  1. I see a lot of Skyline engine bays and it really amazes me about how many people choose the fuel pressure regulator (front of plenum) air line as a "good" location to tap for boost gauges. Dont do that. Instead, tap the line that goes to the stock boost sensor. It exits from the rear of the factory plenum and goes up and then down and then into a little black box at the far left rear of the engine bay. When this hose gets old it cracks very easily so you may want to replace this entire hose with new air line. You need about 40cm or less of hose to do that. Once the new hose is in, cut it in the middle somewhere, insert a t-piece and run your boost gauge air line off that. Voila.
  2. It all looks very DIY in that engine bay. It's likely to have some surprises when it arrives. Good or bad its hard to say.
  3. So their 94 octane is our 98. Sounds a little less crazy now.
  4. Very true. With my old tyres i would get beaten by an freaking Excel in the wet.
  5. do you mean, intake and exhaust gears?

  7. I have used Alexandria bodyworks but its not really near you. Those guys are awesome and get a lot of nice cars in.
  8. I have the first box set of 3 DVD's and the second stage with 3 DVD's and got the third stage (movie) yesterday. The 3 DVD sets cost about $60 each and the movie was $20 in any VCD/DVD shop in Chinatown.
  9. I think a Civic would probably be a good first car. Maybe a corolla. I dont think you should go near a Skyline if you cant remember what year you were born.
  10. Do a search. These items are brand new for < $150 on ebay.
  11. They were total amatures dude. A pro would not have cut any of those wires. To jump start a non-immobilised R33 only a single wire needs cutting. They didnt even touch that wire by the looks of it. None of those wires they actually cut wouldve helped them at all. ****ing clowns.
  12. The stock exhaust is 2.5". A 3" or larger exhaust is usually the first step in any modification process. The mantra "get the air out before you get the air in" should be followed. I drove my stock exhaust R33 GTST around for months. I then changed the dump pipe, front pipe and cat convertor to 3" high flow items. I noticed an increase in low down torque immediately but nothing really up high. I drove that for months. A week ago I completed the exhaust with a custom 3" system to a 3" inlet muffler with twin 2" outlets. I noticed no real increase in low torque but a definate increase in top end. In short. It's very worthwhile. Plus the exhaust note makes the car such a pleasure to drive now and its also a lot smoother to drive when coming off throttle now. A very marked improvement.
  13. I was wondering this the other day when i took my car to an exhaust shop to have some exhaust parts fitted and made. While there the car was on the hoist with the key in the ignition. The alarm armed itself, locked the car and wound all the windows up. This happens by design and I know this happens but the shop did not. Anyway so long story short they had to break into my car. Afterwards i figured out how to do it myself and its so embarissingly easy. I wont say how on here but yeah, a lot can be done to improve security on the average R33.
  14. Ill take the rear pods if you still have them. Ill send you a PM.
  15. weird. why steal a battery? anyway. If the current battery in the car fits then take some measurements and go down to autobarn or supercheap and find a suitable replacement at that size. Ensure it is a sealed type (no maintenance) battery as the regular type are illegal and unsafe. Also ensure the terminals are suitable as the R33 battery terminals are small.
  16. Yeah i find it strange that the only people willing to offer R34 GTR's for import are all very sketchy with details and want a deposit up front. If I could import and comply R34 GTR's i would be advertising like crazy to try and make back the money I spent building and gathering the evidence required to be able to comply them in the first place.
  17. I just restored a set myself. Mine had some minor scratches and the original rubber coating was crap. I removed all of the coating and sprayed them with some flat black enamel and they came up good as new.
  18. what makes that stuff better (apart from adhesive)? I would think neither of them are good by themselves. On my home built airbox I have: - 1 layer of clark rubber foil backed foam (engine bay side) - 2mm aluminium for structural integrity - 2 x 5mm layers of neoprene wetsuit like material adhesive backed (internal side) Data: * Readings taken using Jaycar thermal probe device (-70 - +150 C range) * Readings taken on a 35 degree C day after engine had reached operational temps * Readings taken at front of engine bay, just outside airbox Engine bay temps ----------------------- Idle for 3 minutes: 70 degrees Cruise at 40 km/h: 50 degrees Cruise at 60 km/h: 45 degrees Cruise at 80 km/h: ambient Inside airbox: Idle for 3 minutes: 50 degrees Cruise at 40 km/h: 40 degrees Cruise at 60 km/h: ambient Cruise at 80 km/h: ambient
  19. A friend at work has a TT 91 Soarer. They are very nice cruise mobiles but: - Manuals are very rare - The airbag suspension is boat like - The active suspension model is rare and expensive but the active suspension is awesome - Theyre heavy - I think they dyno about 160rwkw stock so they are still very quick - The TT 6 is much quicker than the V8. I think they can look very phat with a nice paint job and a mild body kit. The 96 models on got VVT and a single turbo engine as well as some cosmetic things and im sure a bucket load more.
  20. A steering wheel cover would melt. Clark rubber is the go.
  21. If they make the high-temp stuff in your desired colour you should go with that. The difference in the paint is elasticity which gives it the ability to flex as hot components expand and contract. This cracks ordinary paint after a while. Are you sure your logo is stuffed? Try buffing it with some brasso to remove surface scratches and ingrained dirt.
