Actually - yeah - it might be the BOV. I recall that it did this (not to the extent that it does now though) before the 3040 went on . Interested to hear from Steve - did/do you have this probelm ? I recall on Merli's ex GTS-t - the BOV was positioned on the plenum side of the cooler - mine is on the turbo side.......
-
It's alright - either do I ..... he he
-
Yes to Cams - Tomei 256/9 Yes to BOV But they were there when the PFC worked OK - (ie before HKS 3040 and Microtech) What's HKS EIDS ??? Might be Cam gear - I was told that with Tomei cams - the cam exh cam gear needs to be set to 0 - mine is not - I bet that what it is ......

he he he Merli is cruisin' for a brusin'. He's got the confidence of the GTR within himself without trying it out for real he he .... I hope you are right Andrew - the GTR is a monster .... But the GTS-t is not too far behind - and with the combined efforts of B-Man, Buster, Doughy, 2Rismo, Sideways, et al you might be just eating your words 4wd boy he he Go the GTS-t ! ! ! Cheers,

Hi all, My Microtech LT12 busted - so I managed to work out what was wrong with my PFC and Q45 AFM - so I got that working now. However, after going back to the PFC - I get a strange problem when the car revs to say 4000 RPM then back down to idle - it will stall. If the revs come down slowly - it's OK - just when the revs come down quickly - it will try to maintain idle but stall. I've taken it to a tuner who says the PFC settings are OK - there is something else wrong. Have changed spark plugs and fuel filter , etc - cleaned the AFM. I've tried adjusting the throttle body stop and idle control valve in many combiniations - The only thing that works is to keep the revs at idle at 1300-1400 - which is silly. Once at idle - it seems to be fine - 900 RPM - stays there rock solid, no hunting or anything. Its just when the revs come down quickly from > 4000 RPM it will stall. I thought it might have something to do with the lightened flywheel. But it worked Ok with the microtech (however I don't really know how the Microtech was tuned) Anyway - if you have any ideas - let me know... Cheers,

Spotted - Black R34 GTT on Mona Vale Rd - Turned into Telegraph Rd - yestrday - Mmmmmm Black R34s look noice at night with bright afterburners
-
Hmmm RB30 bottom end - noice :) me is way jealous - If I had my time again, I do that But hey - I have heard that the RB25 manual gearboxes aren't really matched (geared) for the power range of the Rb30 - is there any truth in this ??
-
Roy - 330 rwkw is more than enough power for circuit racing. I usually run on low boost (275 rwkw) - with 330 rwkw I can overtake most cars in 3rd/4th gear down the straight at EC - but when it comes to turns one and two they always get me on the brakes. I can only really use all that power down the straight. Aslo need a new pair of undies if I brake lateish.... At Wakefield I didn't even bother with high boost - low boost was heaps. Traction is also an issue - semi slicks are a MUST. Don't spend too much $$ getting big power - keep some for brakes, suspension, diff, and tyres and more tyres.

Not very old - 1000 kms after the rebuild (the first failure) - the motor was run in normally - not constant revs, loaded up, etc - Took it out to eastern creek for a crack at the 1/4 - lots of power , hot day , slipping clutch and still had run in oil in it (I didn't know about that bit) - and the rest is hisory. Spun bearing, damaged the crank, and conrod so these needed to be replaced. Pistons and rings were fine - so not such a big job - just a new crank, bearings and conrod .

Hey Sonic - Is the owner of EVLR34 by chance a Chemist ?
-
Congratulations Jumbo (there goes all the Skyline mods) he he Seriously, I am very happy for you two
-
Depends how much money you have - how much risk you want to take - and how good your workshop is. Bottom line - it depends.
-
Congratulations wreckedhead - your car is awsome

1) RB25DET - 5 busted ringlands Root cause - Fuel pump hose clamp not done up tight enough, fuel leaked back into the tank instead of going to the rail & injectors, leaned out - then bang (or pop more like) Running 14 PSI on a hi flow turbo at the time. (about 240 rwkw) 2) RB25DET - Spun Bearing Probable root cause - hot day, bad oil, bad tune, slipping clutch (maybe) - the Jury is still out on this one...... Running bigger turbo (21 PSI) and about 300 rwkw at the time -

Booked in at Unigroup Engineering tomorrow night for full tune. I'm excited. Im also upping the boost from 21 PSI to 25 PSI - just for the hell of it ha ha ha. As Fatz would say - feel my nipples -
That sounds a bit weird - how can your dash/tacho cause RPM drop off at 4K ??? WHat happens if you disconnect your tach ??? The car doesn't work ?? I think someone is yanking your chain.......
-
Sounds like some restriction (either phsical or electronic) on the exhaust or the intake. Check the cat converter & exhaust system (drop the exhaust from the turbo and take it for a spin) Check that you MAF is working and is wored corretly Are you running heaps of boost ?? Might be boost cutout from the std ECU ?? Like Sumo said - could be heaps of things - give us more info.,

Need Q45 AFM pinouts - long story sort of...
B-Man replied to B-Man's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Yeah Joel - I'm getting those already - Hunting a little - (I still have the mesh) Have tried adjusting the idle control valve on the plenum. And stuffed around a little with the PFC settings - (but I don't really know what I am doing) If I rev it in neutral all the way to say 4K - then let is go back down to idle, it will stall. When I bring the revs down gradually , it is OK (won't stall). I'm pretty sure it is the tune (base map) right now. How does one compensate for 550cc injectors on the PFC ?? I took a guess and reduced the 'injector' settings down to 80% accross all 6 injectors - seemed to run a bit better after that. Trying to get a full PFC tune done this week buy someone who knows what they are doing (as oppesed to me) Cheers,, -

And for those of you who thought I was making it up when I siad I had no BDE on the AFM - here is the proof (note the BDE in texta , I put that on there - and only works with the above post) Ignore the I,S,G (in texta) - THIS IS WRONG ! ! -
