Very Very Worried My Fresh Engine Is Not Right
GTR-32U replied to Italiazr1's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Well if there is a problem with the rings engine build is mandatory...Get that check done first so at least you know where you stand. Hope for the best, plan for the worst -
Very Very Worried My Fresh Engine Is Not Right
GTR-32U replied to Italiazr1's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Not good. I would be very closely monitoring that dipstick. Check it at least once a week until you get the car to the mechanics. last thing you want is to starve the engine of oil, Spin a bearing and bang totally lunch your engine -
Very worthwhile installing. One of the best gain for $ mods you can do

Very Very Worried My Fresh Engine Is Not Right

No engine oil at all ?Hmmmmm... or only a little bit left ? I would be getting a compression/Leakdown test performed ASAP. Top up the oil before you even attempt to start it. Sometimes cars with Forged pistons use a " little " amount of oil but not like the amount you are describing. Get the Compression test done .That will give you more info -
The rattles something that happens in all cars when you crank huge Bass. Its usually the numberplate rattling, and if you fix that up you will always find another. Hell in my old Falcon I managed to rattle the sender unit off the fuel tank! Fuel leaked out and stunk like hell. New Gasket and a ton of Silastic later fixed that one. As for the Whistle you hear, Thats a common problem with Amps but not hard stop. Try a noise suppresion circuit..Go to a Car Hifi store and show them and they will sort that one out for you.

I see a lot of that too but to the Toyotas boys credit, other than the badges they are actually the same car most of the time

R32 Thinking About New Diff Gears
GTR-32U replied to Italiazr1's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
GTS4 rear end maybe ? Not a lot lower but may help a little -
Well if they are made to wear a number plate both front and rear just like all of us other road users picking them up running a red shouldnt be a problem
-
Make the Bastards pay rego, Green slips ( after all they can hit and injure people too ) and make the bikes wear a numberplate and have to go for rego inspections just like all of us every 12 months. I dont really know if red light cameras will pick up a cyclist running a red, but if they cant detect a bike, modify it so it can. Also 3rd party insurance a must also

Thats no good. I have always thought that it should be a compulsory subject at School. Proper driver training, as well as basic Auto troubleshooting. Things like where to put the oil, water , fuel even. Checking tyre pressures etc

Bugger its on the Sunday...gotta work.

+1 for all the comments above. Really does sound like the engine is tired. Now what you need to do is get to know a good Mechanic who doesnt Bullshit you and rip you off. Start weighing up your options whether you plan on actually keeping this car for a long time. If so then a rebuilt and regularly serviced engine would be the go. if not then get another engine from Jap import wreckers and have installed in place of severely tired one.Bearing in mind that import engine doesnt necessarily guarantee that it is in Beautiful condition either.Good mechanic friend should be able to sort out something half decent by the way of leak down tests etc Hope that helps

1k Option For Sound System, Which Brand And Model Is Good?
GTR-32U replied to DriftKing06's topic in Car Audio & Electrical
Find out if the original headunit has RCA out. If so hooking it up to Amps etc is no problem -
S2000 would be running in the high 14's there really would not be much seperating them. Credit to Honda they are a very highly tuned machine from factory. Unfortunately going faster really costs big $ in the Hondas. most people who modify them usually end up going backwards. I have a good friend with an integra who just by fitting a full exhaust picked up 3 kw from 7000 rpm to redline. Unfortunately under 7000 rpm he lost 5 kw all the way. So average power from idle to redline still comes as a loss R33 though is SO much easier to improve power on however

Utter Crap ! Have you actually taken a factory dump pipe off and had a look inside of it ? You will find that the wastegate dumps the Gas straight into a flat surface which is not even tapered toward the rest of the pipe. Open Bellmouth type worked just fine on my RB20. Boost came on earlier, ramped up to max Boost faster and top end power increased also

i had a HKS 2510 on mine with standard ECU, it ran ok. But Computer and tune would have made it so much better
-
Yes thats a very common problem with Taxis. They go to take off from the lights,Car stalls and goes BOOOM ! explosion in the intake blows the airbox to pieces. Happens all the time in the city

Snapped And Threaded Wheels Studs.
GTR-32U replied to NYTSKY's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Yep I dont like them either, whenever brand new tyres are fitted and I get home and check to see if the nuts are tight enough. i am always shocked to see that they have locked them up ridiculously tight and I usually back them off to MY setting -

Oil In Intake Pipe And Over Throttle Butterfly!
GTR-32U replied to R32 GTS4 4DOOR's topic in Western Australia
Positive Crankcase Ventilation http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PCV_valve Very good read Something Holden engineers should have done a better job of with the old 308 Which is why they always seem to have oil leaks-even not long after new sump gaskets are installed -
Wow umm a bit of Hostility starting to shape up here....?? Anything that can be put to rest with a few cold Beers ?

Some pretty good advice here I am not sure how old you are but if you are young and really that determined, just do the apprenticeship somewhere and then get out and find something else. It really is the crappest job in the whole automotive trade, with the crappest wages and worst working conditions. Try and picture this, Imagine a 40 degree summer when you are in your overalls dying from heat exhaustion as most mechanic workshops are stinking hot anyway. Imagine then having to work on some burning hot , Oily greasy piece of Garbage searing the flesh on your arms and then trying to perform contortionist types of moves with tools trying to undo or tighten some stupid bolt. it really is that Bad I think I know your predicament and to be honest 99% of car enthusiasts who dont work in the Auto trade are in the same Boat ( myself included ) It really sux that here in Australia to do any sort of Mechanic course you must be an apprentice. There really isnt anything that i know of that caters for us people who dont work in the autotrade. I do know that in the US there are some great courses going where they will teach even the most inexperienced beginner How to fully build and Blueprint engines all the way through to competiition cylinder head porting Check out this link http://www.mondello.com/index_files/Page778.htm

my concern is that I am assuming you need to use the VL block for the extra deck height correct ? Or will the 26 block accept the 30 crankshaft ? If that is the case how do you go legally putting in a block from an 86 - 87 model car into a late 90's car and registering for the street ? Whenever I tried to do a conversion with an older block I always ran into nightmares. Then you get other problems with the increased deck height as Radiator is now sitting lower - need for a header tank so we dont get good ole VL turbo cracked head as was common with them. My choice would be 2.8 litre stroker. Still using standard block keeping things simple. That being said the 30 would be an awesome street motor !! Less chance of it bogging down off boost

Yes electronic odometres can be wound back. Talk to any good auto electricians who specialise in clusters and they will tell you that. However good luck finding anyone who will do it due to it being illegal and all. But yeah I have often wondered about many of these low K imports. When you look at them and the steering wheel looks like a Rotty has been gnawing it,pedals worn on one corner , Gear stick boot and handbrake boot worn right through the black etc...Probably more so in the earlier imports than nowadays
