  1. worst offender i ever seen was a guy in traffic shaving while in traffic...No not with a portable electric type but with shaving cream and a razor...God knows how he was cleaning the razor in between swipes
  2. I am guessing that you got no insurance....bad move....As a rule of thumb any car I own thats worth over 5 grand gets comprehensive...But I am guessing a lecture is the last thing you wanna hear right now.I would say yes give it a go to fix it...shop around for replacement panels and then when you feel you have the right parts then go and talk to a decent panelbeater...What you may think is a throwaway they can probably pull straight in a few hours...I have watched friends who are in the panelbeating trade literally fly through a car that sounds as bad as yours.....at least with front enders the chassis is less inclined to twist like rear ended cars...last thing you want is a car that crabs down the street...what area are you in ?
  3. In a normal installation your tweeters should be connected to a small box known as the crossover..This box basically splits the sound between woofer and tweeter...SO the 2 wires that normally wire directly to speakers will go straight to the crossover, from that one pair will go to the woofer, the other pair go to tweeter.....hope that helps
  4. I know I am asking a lot here...but any chance you could post up a pic of the one you got fitted ??...
  5. I cant speak for Sierras but i can for VN commodores..There is no way they have any sort of Aero advantage over skylines..if ever there was a brick wall of a car this is it. My last done up VN which made 170 kw at the wheels was a prime example. I once compared it to a mates boosted SR20 180 SX...to ride in both my car would have mauled him 0-80km....80-120 it would have been dead even..but 120 + see ya later 180 SX would be dissapearing into the distance...Even comparing my last Skyline , my R32 GTS4....Not as fast as the VN I had...0-100 it would have been eaten alive by the commodore...but 100+ would have been even up to 130 but after that the Skyline will pull away...Even other Commodores I have been in over the years are the same...they just run into that brick wall at 140kmh...maybe the newer ones have improved Aerodynamics
  6. Well I have to admit I dont really know too much about the workings of Dynos...However wouldnt a Dyno be able to measure something like this ? I know one of my Commodores years ago made 170 at the wheels at 195 kmh....So maybe the dyno could give you the reading...I dont know....Ask a dyno operator
  7. It all depends on what you want the caliper to do for you...What is your intention for this car ? If you are going track regularly then I would suggest something bigger..But for the street, The factory calipers are underrated little buggers. I would first do a full bleed and go for a really good brake fluid first....This is a good cheap upgrade...Unfortunately it starts to get very expensive once you start going further..Bigger slotted rotors would be the next upgrade..leave calipers till last, maybe an upgraded pad if you really push the brakes hard
  8. So lets say your car has the potential to hit 300kmh....Where exactly do you plan on using this kind of speed ?....
  9. it could be a lot of things...but through the process of elimination you will narrow it down to certain areas..once you are 100% that the engine itself isnt the problem then you can attack other areas...Fuel or ignition..is where its most likely at....But first be sure that engine is perfect
  10. done a compression test yet ? I would start here just to put your mind at ease that its not the engine itself...
  11. how much does he/she want for the car ? This will be the utlimate decision whether its worth it or not
  12. Sorry...i just dont agree...I was born in Sydney and cant stand the Shithole.Must be the most overrated city.Great for a holiday, but try living here?.Not wrong about the shittest roads either..I been to 3rd world countries that have better roads than ours..Town planner must have definately been on crack or something worse..Tolls....ahhh...try going anywhere in Syd these days without getting rorted for tolls...M7 is a joke...over $6 just to go from one end to the other...total joke..you can easily blow $25 just in tolls going one way if you use a few motorways, cross city tunnels etc.And M5....? yeah pay $3.50 or whatever it is now just to get 2 lanes of motorway...pathetic, I have had traffic jams on that POS of a road so bad that I was in total gridlock in the middle of the toll collection area watching staff work at 6am.....sat there for easy 5-10 mins....
  13. I would get all of them done at once, that way you can rest easy they aint gonna give you grief later on.
  14. My God as if a Busa wasnt fast enough.....Thats one scary lookin ride...definately not for the weak
  15. mate sounds very much like the water hoses that run under the inlet manifold and go right around the back of the cylinder head.If I were in your shoes find a good workshop to replace all these hoses as if one is dead then the rest are only weeks behind. They are a nasty thing to replace too. I did a couple myself but that one that runs behind the head is REALLY difficult.Best to put it up on a hoist, may need to pull starter motor out to get to it...IT really is that nasty, maybe you might get lucky and find a double jointed mechanic....
  16. well easier said than done, but if recorded from the video recorder of a mobile phone and then transferred to disk or something...much more possible.
  17. Damn fine idea...!! even more so if you had a mate in the back seat operating a camera, Then play the coppa at his own game...Inch the car forward as the lights are about to change, rev the engine like you are about to gun it...lights go green you just sit there, hopefully he will be stupid enough to break traction off the line..Your mate gets it all on camera....Bam..get that coppa fined for reckless driving..Undisputable evidence
  18. +1...This is also my tactic..works a treat on highways and such...Get all the Sh*t from your windscreens all over the nice clean paint work of said tosser behind you...Really cheeses off the Merc/BMW driving type bigtime
  19. Well hard to say, I dont really know what both of the local offerings will hit the scales at. I know the GTR is heavy but it does make as much as the 427...I would still tip the Skyline to be a bit quicker.I believe one of the latest motor magazines compares some 427 holden against BMW and Merc. This car was tested making 400 kw ( according to the magazine )..it was quicker than both, but it only ran a 12.8 according to their tests..I am not sure this is the same car as HSV is building ( Maybe an aftermarket job ) but a 12.8 ..? I was expecting a low 12 or high 11 ...Dont really know much about what Ford is building. Potential is there to be fast..who knows
  20. any video footage of this thing floating around ? I wanna hear it...
  21. 10k aint gonna buy you a DC2 Type R...Not even by a long shot...Forget that..MX5 is a great little beast, but check prices also..Hondas are a great little machine, I would go the civic VTiR VTEC engine myself...but with Hondas any modification you make is gonna cost big $$....That said maybe just the civic lowered with decent wheels and a sports exhaust..nothing more done would make for an awesome machine....But 10k may be stretched to do all that..Either way most of the cars people have suggested I dont believe you could go wrong...Decisions....
  22. Good thing also is that Sprinters come standard with the 4age engine.Last of the 20 valves is still a 4 age....So same engine block, worse case scenario you could buy the head, ecu and throttle bodies etc and bolt it all onto the standard motor. This I would only do if its illegal for you to drive due to power weight ratio ruling..But I would just go the whole engine swap rather than this
  23. every now and again I get an old grey haired chinese guy drive in my area with a bog stock, faded blue paint AE86..Now if only I could pull up at the lights next to him oneday.I would offer him $4K on the spot for it. Sprinters are getting snapped up like crazy, even in Japan...awesome little drifters
  24. I cant see how it wouldnt be legal. They are still NA and injected....Very common to come by also...They came standard here in our corolla Seca SX and GTi....I drive an SX...hauls well once the revs are up, But the corollas are heavier than the sprinters...I am in NSW so I am not real sure how the VIC rules are...
