  1. happens to me at 11psi+ yeh ecu sends a rich mixture to prevent it leaning out from high boost. Keep boost lower or get a remapped ECU/piggyback for a quick fix. Long live boost
  2. I have an A'pexi turbo timer (pen style) and as far as i know it automatically sets itself according to how long/hard the engine's been driven. At the moment it's just on a preset 30sec and i manually set it higher if i need to. I can't get it to set itself. Does anyone know how this works? Thanks
  3. I have an HKS foam pod. Works a treat and haven't had problems. Personally i'd replace the filter every second oil change or so, just to be safe.
  4. Yeh had the turbotech for about 6 weeks now. I was astonished at the difference, esp. mid-range boost. It's like Nissan blocked 75% of the turbo's power with the stock solenoid, and the tee just unleashes it all. At 11psi and 6000rpm the RB25 just howls like a mofo. It's excellent for the price. I'd recommend it to anyone as a first mod.
  5. There's no excuse to drive like that on public roads. The Magna dude was intentionally trying to intimidate you. That's just weak. He probably had a sh!t day, or wife cheated on him, or boss fired him (maybe the boss and wife hooked up lol) but there's no excuse for taking his anger out on other drivers...even crappy little sub-50kW Charades That guy will get it back one day. And good on you for not acting like an idiot. We've all driven slow in front of wanker drivers, so no guilt there mate
  6. Good idea James Yeh we'll make a group decision, or decide with a fight to the death

    Topgear: 2007 Gt-r

If you've seen the video of the GTR at the Goodwood festival in the UK you'd notice it's been redesigned slightly. The bonnet has a different shape and overall the new GTR is more refined looking and much sexier It holds its own against those Euro supercars for sure. It ain't no Murcielago or F430, but it's damn pretty and will pack some insane performance with all that power and AWD to hold it to the ground. I can't see how the new GTR will fail, it's got all the ingredients for success both commercially and on the track. Just imagine when Nismo makes a racing model for the SuperGT! It's gonna restart that cult following that the Skyline family left off. I can't wait
  8. hahahahahahahahahaha I learnt how to drive on a VS crappadore. I thought it was strong and torquey, with plenty of room and comfort for the price. Newish holdens aren't bombs, that's definite, but on a level playing field against European and Japanese cars it really lacks an edge- both in performance (mainly everything but straight line grunt) and sophistication. The VS didn't turn heads like my beautiful R33 does, and it's older! But i've never thought highly of Holden anyway. I drove my first Skyline and was astonished at how far ahead the Japs are. Comparing a 1995 model crappadore to a 1993 R33, the Nissan wins it for me. Better technology, more power, better looks, strength. The only thing the Holden has over the Skyline is more rear seat room for the kiddies. But if you have a family you're not really looking for a sports car, or something with tuneability. You're looking for a family car. Ah, well no one cares about you because that's boring. +1 Skylines
  9. Cruise looking great so far What route are we gonna take?
  10. If he wants a thrill why not slide around those corners in a Skyline?
  11. If you want to reach a high power figure like that then pick an exhaust that will make that, and one you can keep (you said you'd cut the muffler to fit the Xforce- yes, a waste). If you can't afford the whole thing (and fair enough, it's not cheap) get part of what you want i.e. dump/front pipe/cat/resonator/canon and buy it piece by piece. But don't chop and change, it's a waste of money i reckon. Find out if the GTR dump is enough, if not (i reckon it isn't) then upgrade. A mate with a 32 GTR told me the exhausts on Skylines are THE biggest factory restriction (after air intake i guess) on power. He said a 3-inch turboback system adds 40hp at all fours. So don't skimp if you want big power. 3.5" all through sounds good for the power you want. Ah, you want a mild or stainless steel system? I have a mild steel setup (installed before it was imported) and has now rusted out around the resonator and sounds crap. Stainless is better if you're gonna build your car over a long period (guess you know that). That's my 2c, sorry for ranting when all you want if a muffler , i reckon wait til you can afford the system you want. If that adjustable muffler is part of the plan, go hard mate. And don't forget to pick me up
  12. Play dumb. Say you bought it like that. Ask 'em where you can get it fixed to the legal decibals
  13. I thought it'd be enough. Check the Dyno results thread and see what exhaust systems make 350awkW. When you make that figure come pick me up
  14. You're doing lots for the phrase 'pedal to the metal' lol
  15. Champion advice mate. I won't bother with stands. Yeh my R33 is my transport, hobby, thrills, chick magnet, etc. I'm seriously in love with it Yeh old man's gonna keep running it, so guess ur right- it's like i'm still here. There's a twinkle in his eye though...like he's gonna learn how to powerslide to Woolies while i'm gone Oh well, as long as it's working when i'm back. Gonna head to UK and wanna travel round Europe a bit, after i finish Uni (finishing soon). Hope i can find a PC over there, so i can keep up with SAU! Thanks brother
  16. Make sure it won't rust...like my exhaust has Sounds like a friggin tugboat...
  17. Go for the better, newer Neo if you can afford it. S2 RB is great engine too, and will be cheaper to buy and probably cheaper to mod (if thats the plan), but it's not as advanced as the R34 Neo. The Neo is more enviromentally friendly. Guess that's not important on this forum
  18. I'm not an expert but here's my ideas: 1) I have a similar problem with cold starting. It wants to stall, though i tap the throttle and it's fine. Seems to be lack of fuel pressure i reckon too. Don't know if the pressure regulator will help, ask someone to put it on if you're not 100% confident. Maybe your fuel filter is dirty and slows everything down. 2) The turbo install, well far as i know most workshops are about $60-$80 an hour. Might end up costing you 3-$400 approx to get it put on. Get some quotes. Go for quality work first (duh), not dirt cheap. Yeh get them to add the dump while you're there. It's not a big thing to screw it to the turbo and saves you the work for a little extra cash. 3) Same as 1. I don't have one so i'm not sure about how to set it, so make sure it's done right either by you or a mechanic. You probably already know, but stock R33 turbos aren't strong so keep it to 11-12psi max. Good luck mate. Enjoy the extra power
  19. Thanks R31Nismoid. Plenum eh? Guess my induction system's gettin ripped apart this weekend... Probably a stupid clamp or something. Cheers
  20. Where do boost gauges take their reading from? At the turbo, near the throttle body, or at the piping leading between everything? I'm trying to isolate where my boost leak is coming from. It's dropped about 3-4psi according to the gauge
  21. It's all good brother. Yeh we'll get some good shots as always. Good luck, i have assessments to do as well! Uni is nearly over for me then i can do even more cruises!
  22. Thanks for all the replies fellas. Bunch of legends. Sounds like all i need to do is prop her up on jack stands. Ahh i know where to put them at thr front, on that panel under the motor, but where do i put the stands at the back?
  23. Hey all, I'm heading overseas for around 6 months. I'm leaving my R33 in the garage and will be covered, have battery disconnected, handbrake off (bricks behind the wheels) and my dad will be there to run it every few weeks. Any advice on something i've missed? Will i come back to any problems? I heard the ECU has its own power source, but how long will that last without the normal battery? I'm guess oiling and fuelling will also be a problem after being left so long. Cheers
  24. Congrats on the car! I got my R33 couple months ago, i'm still in the puppy love stage too Yeh what garage's do you guys in SYdney go to? I'm looking for a good one too.
