  1. Damn sounds like a great mod! Would definitely improve all-round performance. Gtst's have a really heavy front end, so much damn iron in the engine bay and chassis. Sounds like a mission, before i even respray the mofo Ahhh well, guess the only option is a hi-flow turbo instead...sigh
  2. I hope you look like a fool next to all those nice rexies Just give em your donation and come with us Manu!!! U wanna ride with one of us?
  3. I have a working A'pexi boost gauge on my dash. U can come to Sydney and look at it Don't know sh!t about them sorry. Just know that the barb tube on the back is where you stick the vacuum hose. At a guess i don't think they're computer controlled. They operate on an air vacuum to give a reading, and the electrical plug at the back is to light the gauge up when you switch on your dash lights.
  4. Wow This is really gonna change the international motoring scene. It's gonna push the GTR into the dominant European supercar territory. And it's affordable by comparison! I'm gonna get one when i grow up
  5. Yeh still iffy about the exhaust. It was running fine with a manual boost controller @ 11psi. Lots of power and no dropping of boost. I removed and cleaned my side mount intercooler, replaced it and was fine for a week. Actually had to turn down the MBC because the clean side mount flowed an extra pound! Now it can reach 10-11psi, but only for a second and drops down about 3psi. Only time i get power is when i mash the throttle and the leak isn't as obvious. Even then it doesn't hit as hard as before the leak. Yeh man. boost control, as above. I never go above 11psi, usually keep it 10-11psi. Now it will reach 10psi but takes longer to do it and won't sustain it. Leak is most noticable at low rpm, when there isn't as much charge. I can visibly see my boost gauge needle sink after it climbs from -0.5 up to 0 BAR. Past 0 BAR it will climb with the revs, by that pressure i'm doing 3500+. Even the motor isn't howling like it was. So yeh i'm still getting boost, but power is being noticably lost. I'm taking a stab at the intake side of the engine is leaking.
  6. Hmmmm...thanks for the info guys. I'm not worries about the cost because the weight saving outweighs it, plus it'll be cheaper than a $1000 carbon fibre bonnet Only off putting thing is having to mod to bolt it on, plus it needs a respray to match my R33... Is it worth the hassle?
  7. Is an aluminium r33 gtr bonnet a direct bolt on for a gtst? And what's the weight difference between them? Many thanks
  8. If you check the maintenance section about cleaning the o2 sensor it says you need to do some ECU throttle timing crap after you remove/replace the sensor. It's not life and death tho
  9. Running rich not only covers the spark plugs in carbon deposits but can also do the same to your cat. It's bad for your car, bad for performance, bad for the environment (sorry to be a greenie man). When you get a chance i'd get a retune.
  10. It has two settings: below 5000rpm it runs 5psi and about 5500rpm+ it runs 7psi. With stock boost control you'll feel a slight 'kick' when it changes. Come on! Turn that boost up!
  11. My cat could be an issue. I'm pretty sure everything is FINE on my car which is why i'm confused. I noticed a week ago my exhaust was full of rust holes and sh!t, so i patched them up (but it has partially broken the putty off). Car drives little better, though sounds much better. The rust was from the resonator back, cat was fine. Otherwise i'd have to pop off the exhaust to figure it out. Could it be coming from under the hood? The wastegate? Any tests i can do?
  12. You know what time it is... I'm in. Go the Parra Nissans
  13. My r33 is losing boost throughout the rev range . Stock turbo & cooler. All clamping and piping is OK. Could it be a tiny air leak i can't obviously see? Or could it be my wastegate? Might it open earlier than its meant to? I'm no expert on wastegates so could anyone suggest how to check it? Any diagnostic tests i can do?
  14. Oh hectic you're Canadian I didn't think anyone outside Oz or NZ would be interested in SAU! This is like, a moment for me...Skylines have brought us all together lol. You guys have right-hand drive? Or you drive like Americans? Aaahhh sounds like Canada has pretty crappy petrol/gas. I thought we had it bad compared to Japan, but you have only 94-5 octane? Does the car (albeit an N/A) run ok?
  15. Hey dude check this recent thread, see post #58. There's a Gong cruise comin up if you wanna jump on the bandwagon. Keep an eye out for that post, maybe you an Assasin can swap ideas or sumthin. I'm there for sure anyhow
  16. I only joined SAU a couple of months ago when i had just bought my Skyline, but i had surfed it before that and knew it was top stuff. Only after a few days i realised how awesome this network of enthusiasts is. I have learnt enough in this time to converse with Skyline owners of 5 years! And the majority of dudes & gals on here actually give a stuff about basic questions and are relatively patient with n00bs. I have been on a couple of cruises organised on these forums and have really become an 'active' member of the import scene, as far as possible in such a short time period anyhow. I want to thank all the guys who initiated Skylines Australia and to all its contributors who have literally turned a bunch of forum postings into a massive, organic, evolving body of knowledge. I have been able to look after my car without needing to rely on busy mechanics, which means i save $$$ and i get a variety of opinions on here. A mechanic only gives you his opinion, and it usually involves giving him more money. On SAU members comments are posted purely to help each other and share our experiences. With some editing, SAU could definitely become an authentic worldwide authority on owning a Skyline (even performance cars in general) and should be published in a variety of forms to maintain its longevity- it shouldn't become marketed and commodified (it would lose its user-contributor freedom) but could be made into a hard copy of five years of the developing import scene in Oz, and subscribers would be the first in line to benefit from this. I hope to get my kids into SAU. Keep it going strong!
  17. I sprayed WD40 in the hole next to the slave cylinder. Squeak gone! It's easy and takes 1min. Under the car, from the driver's side, look at the gearbox and you'll see a hole that you can finger (don't get carried away while you're down there ). Just put some lube in it (WD is easiest but won't last as long as grease) and see how it goes.
  18. Ya wanna race?
  19. If a couple more ppl are in for Wiseman's Ferry then we're cooking with gas. I'm trying to organise some more ppl at the mo. Check the last Wiseman's Ferry cruise fir comments about it, in the NSW events section. At least 5-6 people is a good start.
  20. Man you don't need to mod a GTR used as a daily driver It'd be powerful enough on the streets, and lots of fun on the odd track day. Listen to the other guys: if you mod it it guzzles fuel and the motor becomes more prone to breakages. Insurance will go up, just modding it will cost heaps (esp. labour too), the attention on a nice GTS-T is bad enough so a GTR would be difficult to live with at times. Lastly, don't import if you can help it. I was gonna import my R33 but at the last minute i bought one from a car yard. Paid a couple grand extra though i took it for a thrash, popped the hood, stuck my head in the wheel wells, asked the dealer heaps of Q's etc etc, then i paid for it. Can't do that when you import.
  21. Stick with 98 premium. It drives better and has more mileage than 91/95 unleaded anyway. Skylines actually need it because our fuel isn't as good as Japanese fuel (they have 100 octane rating as said above) so you need the best possible fuel to keep as close the conditions the Skyline was built for. Service it like the guys said and she'll last you a long time. Very strong cars. Good choice
  22. The SAFC should be compatible between models. I'm not sure if stock r33/34 exhausts swap over, The A'pexi one i'm even less sure of. Most of the layout and components of both models are the same/similar i.e. the intercoolers are different sizes but are interchangable in terms of piping lengths. You should just call an exhaust place and they'll tell you over the phone i reckon.
  23. From the Hills i know of two good cruises: 1. Taking Old Northern Rd to Wisemans Ferry. It's a nice ride up through Middle Dural and Glenorie, smooth & windy road 2. Taking Windsor Rd into Windsor. Similar story here. Both routes have nice views too. Anyone interested?
  24. I'm gonna get a strut brace too, JustJap sounds like a good choice for the price. Yeh, for what it does there's not much point spending double or more on a hectic brand. I have an engine damper- its bracket is bolted onto the right strut, when i put my strut brace over it will it cause problems because it's a few mm higher on that side?
