  1. The guy i spoke to at justcar when i called to cancel my policy couldn't believe i was leaving to goto racv, he seemed to think they had made a mistake and i was just lucky to not be refused by them. I tried to explain to him that, No it's not a mistake and it's different to normal racv because it's the classic, vintage, veteran, but he still seemed doubtfull. when going ahead with my new 'racv' policy the girl told me that it is exactly the same insurance as the nrma, (ie if i called nrma from nsw wanting classic car insurance she is the same person that i would be talking to), She said it's actually a better deal with the racv as i get 8 free roadside assistance call outs per year as opposed to the nrma's 2. I'll vote for thread of the year..........certainly has made me a happy man
  2. The RACV calls it : Veteran, Vintage & Classic Car Insurance here is the link: http://www.racv.com.au/wps/wcm/connect/racv/Internet/Primary/insurance/car+insurance/veteran,+vintage+_+classic The guy i spoke to said it's exactly the same as the NRMA policy
  3. After reading this thread and hearing about people paying about the same for their R32's full comp as i'm paying for just third party +fire&theft i thought it was about time i gave NRMA a call......then i found out they dont insure people in VIC, the woman told me they usually forward people to the RACV. I didn't think they would but i gave them a call and sure enough they will Insure me with a car value of $18000 for $400 odd! that is epic, i'm switching today. The guy told me it's exactly the same as the NRMA policy just branded RACV.
  4. A year ago i received my tax return letter in the post and instead of the modest credit i was expecting it was a bill for $20000!!! After spending a Sh*tload of my time and some of my hard earned, i finally got it cleared. but it was definitely a case of guilty until proved innocent (by own hard work) and then when i had finally succeeded in sorting it out there is no apology or any kind of admittance of incompetence. Good luck sorting it out!
  5. It looks as though i have my air pocket issues sorted. Replaced the reservoir with a second hand item from a 33 that was in much better condition, now the little filter thing in the reservoir is letting the air out and it's no longer building up and causing issues......onto the next issue..there always seems to be something
  6. I can see that, what does it indicate?
  7. can you elaborate on that? mine looks similar
  8. Thanks, have been wondering whether mine were actually -9's (as i was told when i brought the car) or something else, so was just curious to how you knew. When you unplug the solenoid shouldn't you just be getting standard wastegate pressure? and isn't that 10psi? i know when i turn my boost controller off i get around 10-11psi
  9. Thanks for the update! my vibration turned out to be one of the hicas rack ends, Chasers were trying to tell me i needed another new wheel bearing even though they had just been changed, reckoned they had been installed wrong (wasn't done by them).......pfffft, glad i didn't listen to them those OEM bearings and hubs are expensive.
  10. Looks decent man, good luck! i'm really curious now, what is this needle in the haystack you found?
  11. As far as I know if you brought it to Victoria you will need a rwc if you want either regular plates or club plates (which it is eligible for now as it's an 89). I certainly wouldn't want the task of trying to get a rwc for it, you would want to be fairly friendly with the mechanic I would say. :-)
  12. Thought i had seen that 'immaculate' steering wheel before, lol
  13. Attesa Reservoir with cap and the two rubber hoses??? and if so are you willing to post to melbourne?
  14. Sorry, missed your location as i was viewing on my phone. Not quite the close 'pick up' location i was hoping for, haha
  15. update time... cracked the shits with my reservoir, air gap was getting stupid big with f*all driving so i pulled the reservoir out of the car to have a good look inside to figure out what's going on in there and give it abit of a clean out. So for anyone who wants to know what the inside of their reservoir looks like: note that there is also a sensor in the middle of the reservoir which i think may be just a low fluid level sensor, it's just a cylindrical thing that floats up and down with the fluid level (and this is what the wires that come out of the bottom attach to), this is what causes the change in colour effect in the tank (the pink fluid that you can see at the top of the tank is above the maximum height the sensor can travel to, the fluid at the height of the sensor and below appears darker because of the sensor and below that the filter). After i had had a good look and given it a clean i put it back in the car and bled the system, end result: When the manual talks about a 5mm air gap i think what they actually mean is a 0mm air gap, in the photo above there is 0mm of air, but the plastic that separates the top and bottom chambers is around 5mm thick and from the outside looks like an air gap. My leading theory now is that one or both of those little things you can see on top of the lower chamber (first picture) are supposed to let the air out and mine are clogged up and not doing their job properly, when i had the reservoir out and gave it a blow with the compressed air it temporarily unclogged these bots and allowed me to expel all of the air. now of course it's clogged again and my air gap is once again growing. I think my next course of action is going to be to try another reservoir and see if it makes any difference.
  16. ^^^ this 110% If you really want one, get one for a weekend car and have something else for a daily, If i was looking again i would go for one that has already had been rebuilt (my someone reputable, with proof). I got mine a year ago (not rebuilt) and i'm constantly worried it'll go bang! i have spent around 11k on it in the last 12 months getting it upto a standard i want and there is still a fair way to go..........also i'm too scared to track it until i can afford a rebuild. I used to have a r33 gts25t, was in much better condition, was just as fast (in the dry), and overall was much easier on the back pocket and the stress levels............i'm paranoid everywhere i park, it's going to get stolen/keyed/ GTR badge ripped off or something...........
  17. 11k or whatever it was you paid was reasonable.....15k? what a dreamer.........
  18. Thanks, thats what i was after. That really sucks, i sold my R33 and specifically looked for a 89 R32 because i was sick of paying $700+ for rego on a car that only does 2000 km a year. I was waiting until November for club rego as i wasn't aware that for 89 cars the month didn't matter........if there is any positive out of this it is that I at least i already have my full rego now, i was abit bummed that i was going to have to give up my slimline B&W plates for some fatso maroon ones though. anyway back to your build thread, have really enjoyed it, keep it up.
  19. not if you have proof of prior registration in aus
  20. Yeah my AWD works fine, the main problem is when i leave it and the air gap gets so big the reservoir starts overflowing. If anyone else can tell me how theirs goes, how often they have to bleed to reduce the gap or anything else helpfull i'll be keeping an eye on the thread so even if it gets abit old...post...i'll get it thanks
