  1. Yeah thats the only drama - they tend to go off in carparks. Its the sort of thing u would only hook up (its a simple clip, or you can run a switch to bypass it. Use the alarm with the ultrasonic sensors disabled (a switch that breaks the circuit) when parking in carparks etc, but it will still arm ur immobiliser and shock sensor. Then at night, flick the switch before u jump out and arm it. Too easy.
  2. tidy job with the photoshop. Why would you not have it follow the bodyline to the front...? Looks a bit sharper than my quick effort! Pity about the colours tho.... :-( Id probably run a silver pin stripe with the yellow or blue ones i did.
  3. yeah +1 i think thats a nice match. There is a yellow xr8 ute getting about with 20" black lensos. Black tint. Itsa niiice
  4. Stageas, steve? namely the series 2 5spd...? :-)
  5. Do they make these for VT commodores....??? Just kidding.... For stageas? Its a 5spd manual... same setup as a 34 gtst (neo 6). Would they run the same pins you think?
  6. i have a bad habit of honking horns when ppl are working on their engines haha... definitely works. Yes you can hook it up easily. You will find there are trigger wires out of alarms that tell then optional siren to sound. Run these to ur horn and there you have it. Actually its not QUITE that simple, cos u need to run parallel circuits so it still sounds when u hit the button. Go to a car audio store and you can just buy an alarm. They are rated at different dB's so u can choose how loud you want it. Just saw that i wrote tit sensors in post #8. Needless to say, i meant tilt sensors.
  7. Makes for a good pick up line i guess. What can you LEGALLY do in a ferarri around the CBD of bris or sydney that you cant do in a civic? Pull chicks. THATS what. Just so you can say youve got one.
  8. I have nothing to worry about til my Stagea arrives... Mazda 3's arent high on the list of targeted vehicles... I might tag along tho just to see what ppl are doing. When the car arrives i intend to modify it, and yeah as in most cases there will be a couple of 'questionable' modifications, but i intend to drive it. A lot. But if i get busted for something that shouldnt be there, thats my own look out.
  9. Tilt sensor is only worth it if you like parking in handicapped spots or in front of fire hydrants. Strathfield do the cyclops sensors. www.strathfield.com.au www.dynamco.com or .com.au to look at the alarm parts.
  10. being the 80s i bet that girlie has a very hairy...countach....
  11. Sure do - have seen it in their testing videos on a 34 GTR they built. They said it works until you need to be flowing about 600hp of air.
  12. Ok. Microwave and Ultrasonic both detect the mere PRESENCE of a body near the car, or in it. Ultrasonic emits a low frequency humm or something, and detects when it is interrupted. Microwave does something similar. The good thing about dual zone is that it will give you two different sounds. If someone comes within say 1m of your car, it will give a couple of warning chirps. if they hang around, it will go off. Also, if you have your windows down and they stick and arm in, it will go off, they dont even have to have touched anything. Dual zone - outside (warning) inside (full alarm). You could mount it so that ur engine bay or cabin is the fisrt zone and 1m proximity to ur car is 2nd zone. I think they are about $60...? Single zone is cheaper.
  13. Probably about 2 minutes then pop... pop.... I think 'street' tyres is a loose term over there haha.... Thatd be on some hefty slicks tho i think. I'll scan the article and post it up after work tomorrow.
  14. Yeah but that site is a load of shit.
  15. There is a 1970-ish corvette in the U.S. with 2200HP. 3.5 seconds to 100kph? nah.. try 3.5seconds to 350kph. Full registration. No worries. I think Jay Leno owns it or is buying it. Its in the last Street Machine or Unique Cars that i have sitting at work. Americans.
  16. Standard airbox is fine unless you are funning a fair few 100 hp... compare the intake to ur 2.5" piping from ur intercooler..! Run a panel. That way you keep the factory cold air induction setup as opposed to sucking in all the hot air from ur engine bay. You car will run better and have more response down low due to colder intake temps. A K&N panel will flow as well as a pod/mushroom filter. If you insist on a pod then by law you have to have it shielded or you will get canaried. I ran a pod on my race car (a 92 SSS for top gear series and hillclimbs) and ended up switching back to the factory CAI induction with a K&N panel due to it not being effective. Tried em both. BTW this is a 9000RPM redline race car application.
  17. Cyclops are made by dynamco - awesome products. Your shock sensor is definitely adjustable then. You can also add on microwave sensors (stingle or dual zone) ultrasonics (again, single or dual) as well as glass breakage sensors and tit sensors. "This afternoon i woke up to go to work" Cool job!
  18. GAH!!!! that sounds awesome!!! Nice job with the whole setup, brad, very impressive. I like the way youve refrained (probably was an effort) from going crazy with the body mods. Looks excellent and sneaky. Definitely love to see some on tarmac - but impressed at the tyre smoke coming off the grass!!! Cant wait to get mine! 5spd FTW....
  19. Easy fix. Go to ur local cop shop or dept transport and ask for the one way screws that you can get to attach number plates. Your alarm obviously has a shock sensor for it to have gone off while they were playing with ur bar (haha) one thing you might do is turn up the sensitivity - most are adjustable. The screw will be hard to remove, but i wouldnt glue bolts on. Makes for a mess when you go to remove it.
  20. Sorry guys! Sold and GOOORNE!!!! Thank you, mystery bidder. Now give me some trader rating haha....
  21. Sub is a TSW306C.
  22. No hybrid. Toyota market their higher end luxury cars as a Lexus. Being that its called a LEXUS LFA but is said to be the next TOYOTA supra, someones got their wires crossed and decided that its now a hybrid. And now runs on a half petrol/half electric powerplant :-)
  23. Coke can thing - i found this. What you do is remove your factory bov. You will find a gasket that is used to seal it to ur intake pipe. Basically, using this gasket as a template, cut a coke can to bits so you can use the aluminium sheeting to create another gasket but without the hole in the middle for ur bov. Then mount your BOV back with this in place and voila you have a foactory looking setup that is really a dose pipe.
  24. Your dvd player is legal - as long as the screen is disabled when you take the handbrake off. You arent allowed to have a screen in the drivers line of sight that is operational while the car can be moving. Handbrake trigger switch - 9/10 dvd players have a wire out the back for such a purpose. If it has just been run straight to a ground point, ur screen can constantly be on. Not allowed. You should be allowed to NOT run a BOV. It sounds like you just have a cover plate over the mounting point on the inlet? As long as there is nothing that vents directly to atmosphere there should be no problem to my knowledge, but am happy to be corrected there. They cannot say that the flutter noise is noise pollution - it is not loud or constant enough. Seen that one fought and won many a time. As far as the Xenons go - yeah as above. Legal, as long as they self clean and level. If they dont, say goodbye.
