  1. A higher flowing cat would help, being that as you get into higher revs it is trying to push more air through. The free-er flowing the better. No need to tune, a decent stainless manifold will pretty much just do its job without altering ur engines dynamics at all. I think if you were to run a stainless mnifold, then an aftermarket dump pipe as you state, then an apexi 3" cat back sys, it would be a waste not to rn a high flow cat. converter.
  2. the slots are about 2-3mm wide.... considering how fast ur rotors spin as you drive the difference in braking surface area is negligible. Id probably run slotted, if ur doing track days often, but for the sake of $90 just depends on whether u can justify it or not. If ur getting work done on your car, there will no doubt be a car there that has slotted rotors. ask the owner if it made a difference.
  3. A better exhaus manifold willl help you come on boost sooner. Its not necessary but if ur car is in a workshop and you have a manifold handy..... :-)
  4. THe slots vent off gases that are created by the brake pads and rotors rubbing on each other at high speed and pressure, causing a lot of friction and heat. Its meant to reduce brake fade etc. They are fine for everyday driving, but if they cos much more than standard rotors i wouldnt bother as its not going to make any noticable difference in normal day to day driving. If you are going to do a bit of track work then yeah go for it, but a set of better pads will make more of a difference (greenstuff etc)
  5. doesnt running gas make you exempt from emissions testing...? being that it burns clean? On that note but off topic - i wonder if a gas conversion to autechaxis' 2004 M35 would allow it to be complied being that the issue is that they fail emmission laws. Back on topic - a guy who works in the ame building as me runs an 8 with the 4age, running a small turbo and straight gas - for performance purposes. Gets grea mileage per dollar and being that it has the appropriate cams and tune, does MUCH better than it would running petrol.
  6. HAHA my thoughts exactly... wonder if you can switch the turbocharger on and off...?
  7. 6230's and 6230i's are gun phones - had one for three years no need to upgrade yet. But yes CK-7W and 6110 navs - keeps dropping out of bluetooth. CK-20W apparently works.
  8. Check out the pics of it by the roadside... if Mad Max drove a skyline, itd be that one. Would be a cool car to buy if you know someone who could throw some new paint onto it. Look like shite
  9. SO!! who on here wants to offer some SUBSIDISED services in return for say... hmm... my bonnet....!!!! haha seriously tho. It needs some exhaust work, a new computer to run the new engine (PLR built SR20, forged balanced internals good for 9500rpm) and probably a lifetime supply of CV joints
  10. As a few of you know me and my neighbour will be running a SSS Pulsar in topgear events and hillclimbs etc. Car was bought off MY105.com. At present it has the previous drivers designs (you can see it in the 'show me ur race machines' thread). Who do we need to notify of any changes? Whats the procedure for having a numberr changed, or are they allocated? I know there are some things you need to keep eg tow point indicators, kill switch indicator etc. We are looking at using the same colourrs (white car wtih red, blue and yellow livery) just updating it a little. Any info would be great thanks!! Rob
  11. I second that motion, trism. Im forever fixing things caused by auto elecs. (wrong guage wire (eg 16GA earth to a 1200W mono, with a 4ga pos). Standard price to have a 4ch and a 2ch installed (wired and mounted) shouldnt exceed $250 all up. Try autobarn, supercheap, strathfield.
  12. fair enough. Most sony amps dont run two LPFs but that definitely makes things easier for you, leigh! PS lets not be a wanker, now, trism. Not everyone is perfect mate. Try not to sound like such a prick to someone on here who simply answered a PM for help. He asked for advice and a quick sketch and i gave him the info i had. Its great that you tracked down a pic of it and saw that, but you dont need to act like an ass to me about it champ.
  13. Have had dramas of people's 6110 Nav's not running with a CK-7W. Is there a Nokia CK-20W...? Apparently it is meant to work. Chris...?
  14. you also have to fit a drill, unless your gonna 'no more nails' em in there. 32's im not sure, someone mentioned 33s before and i know theyre a bastard to work with.
  15. Ok so thats basically how you bridge the two channel to run sub B, run the two door speaker off the 4ch FRONT outputs, and run sub A off the 4ch's rear outputs, bridged together. To bridge the channels, you use the negative of one channel and the positive of another channel. As said, there should be indicators on both the two and four channel amplifiers on which terminals to you. Then, set the 2ch to low pass frequency (LPF), the rear channels on the 4ch to LPF, and the front two channel son the 4ch to High Pass Frequency (HPF). In a normal world it would make sense to run both subs off the 4ch, sony only put LPF on the rear channels, and you cant run full frequency through a sub. Any other dramas send me another PM
  16. Yeah got the car trailer too, which is handy. As far as towing goes duncan itll prob be a while before i end up with a stagea haha... yeah i know manuals arent fantastic at starting a heavy trailer but it will only be doing so every few weeks i imagine.
  17. PS sony actually put out some VERY good products over the Late 06/Early 07 period - excellent for their money. Pity is that ur amps were in the series before that, so see how you go. PS after a brief good run of a year there, sony are now shit again.
  18. Most R33's have brackets over the speaker for baby seats or something. Also, can due to the angle of the rear window. Sits a bit cloer than the ol' 31s.
  19. It breaks down like this - You have a 4ch and a 2ch. On the 4 channel, you need to bridge 2 channels (the rear two) so that you can run a pair of speakers as well as ONE sub of it. (should be indicators on the speaker terminals on how to bridge it) and run one of the two subs off it as well as a pair of speakers (pref fronts). THen bridge the 2ch (502Z) into one channel, to run the other sub. The reason you cant run both subs off the one amp is that to run the subs you need to set the frequency cutoff to LPF (low pass frequency). You can only do this with the rear channels on a sony amp.
  20. Thanks heaps for the feedback... sounds like a good idea. So if it ever needs work such as an exhaust job/suspension etc, i could have the work discounted in return for having their business promoted on the car, the stickers for which would be done by the current guy. But you def think that as payment for having his graphics/sticker business prominantly displayed on the car (1/3 of the surface are), i should get any that i want for free...? Is that the general trend i should be looking for?
  21. Haha u sure will but will have a slightly diff paint scheme. Got it for a song, too, veru happy with the purchase, so lets see if it pays off!
  22. yeah but ferni for the difference of $25k for a decent 32 to $60k for a decent 34, is it worth it? We are also talking value for money here, right? I wouldnt be able to justify spending 60k on a 34. Id rather buy a 32, then spend 10k on it if need be.
  23. cheers mate can u PM me when they are up?
  24. Hi guys I am going to run a SSS pulsar (its in the "show me ur race cars" thread, page 33) in time attacks, Top gear events, hillclimbs etc. A local guy who does custom car vinyls, stickers and graphic lays has expressed an interest in advertising on my vehicle by means of doinf some artsy cool graphic work with his logo dsplayed prominently on th bonnet, rear and both sides of the car. He said that i could have final say in the design and be part of the whole process so the car has the look i want. I figure the car and its graphics will be being seen by a fair amount of people who may want work done to their cars, both at track days, etc, and while its on the trailer being moved around. What do you think i should ask for? As it is, the car is plain white, and this would get it looking rather sharp, being that i can do the design etc. Should i be askig for an advertising payment every meet? Or a comission off any work done for people who saw it on the car? Whats your opinions? Thanks guys
