  1. i find it interesting that some of you think that adding ten little one inch high sharks fins to the rear of your roof will make a noticeably difference to a car that ways more than 1.5t and is a 1.5m high... do the math :-) Its like putting diffusers in the rear bar to improve undercar dynamics when u have ur exhaust and suspension and etc hanging down anyway... seriously...
  2. Headunit: Pioneer AVHP5950DVD (7"screen, 3x preouts etc) Front: Pioneer TSC1002 x 2pairs Amp: Pioneer GM6100F 4ch runs the two fronts Rear: Pioneer TSA6992 500 5-way Amp: Pioneer GM3100T little bad boy for the 6x9s Sub Amp: Pioneer GM7100F x2 360rms each Sub: Pioneer TSW306DVC x2 400rms dual 4ohm Capacitor: runs a second battery in the boot. Wiring: Too much to go into due to dual batteries! one in engine bay one in boot... Streetwires RCAs and leads. Also runs 6" two ways in the boot, running off the head unit. I pulled the back covers off the subs and masked the amplifiers up to paint them the same burgundy to lilac pearl as the car. Will be DB rated on the 3rd of next month. Car: Make: AHEM 85 XF falcon haha... Did the full installation and wiring by myself, just to see if i could. Turns out i can... now time for the stageas install!
  3. Were you just after stopping rattles, or actual soundproofing? two different things.... To soundproof a boot/door/anything the most effective way is to head to any place that does audio installations (WOW, Autobarn, Strathfield) and pick up sheets of soundproofing material. Comes in squares close to A4 size. $30 upwards. Pull out ur boot trim of remove ur door trims and place the sticky side to the tin, cutting it to fit. The good stuff is about 3mm thick, but still cut-able. THis helps keep the sound in the car, and stops road noise too. Good for SPL, clarity, as well as getting rid of the tinny hollow sound of speakers mounted to door trims.
  4. Much luck mate? Im guessing the amp is a GM5300T and the sub is a KFCW3011? If so, im pretty sure ur amp runs 380W RMS when bridged to two channel, ur sub i THINK is a 400RMS which means they are a fairly decent matchup. If there is a fault it will be with the installation. Its obviously all hooked up to the correc places etc otherwise generally they wont work at all. I dont think ur pioneer has a safety cut-off for when it reaches high temps so it wouldnt be that (normally set at about 80 degrees anyway, which is pretty hot). Im going to second the motion that it is the earth point. Make sure the negative (earth) lead from the amp i 4GA as well, and that it is munted to somewhere solid like a seat belt bolt, chassis point etc and not to a painted surface (which insulates it). Should be a 5min fix if they know what theyre doing. With that sort of setup, the earth from your engine to your battery will be more than sufficient. Rob
  5. Sorry mate but i dont really want to seperate a sub from an amp. You wouldnt run both subs off one mono, so it would make it really hard to sell. You'd be lookin at $600 for one PRSD1100M and TSW3001D4 combo. Find a mate who wants a 3000W pioneer sub for $200 and you've got the amp for $400, i guess. Being that these amps RRP @ $549, its like getting a $50 3000W sub.

  10. Very interested do you have pics? Is the engine engineered for the vehicle/have an engineers report? Was the car originally a manual? Just would like to see how neat the conversion is. I ould probably be buying it as a race car. Cheers
  11. sil80 conversion a no-go? bit too far gone?
  12. Hey davo. Im near the caboolture area myself. If you are keen to go down a bit more on price let me know, or pm me if you drop it more in the future. I have just picked up and SR20 and am lookingfor a home for it, but this is stil a lil out of my budget. GL with the sale, let me know if you dont get a takers ROb
  13. http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/St....html&st=40 found a short thread on this earlier. i have a bunch of JBL gear that was going to go into my mazda but is now gathering dust waiting for a stagea. GTO6011 600RMS monoblock to run two GTO1202 12" 300RMS dual voice coils, GTO607C 6" front splits and GTO637 6" 3-ways for the rear, as well as a GTO7556 6 channel (80RMS x4 + 120RMS x2) to run the four speakers as well as a pair of GTO937 6x9s in the tailgate. Pioneer AVHP5950DVD 7" dvd screen for the head unit. Should be good!
  14. So if at the end of it all you cant by any means get your money back for the vehicle and are forced to sell, what would you do? Sell it to a buyer in NZ? Such a pity. If you were gung ho about it, it would be interesting to see the drivetrain from front to back transplanted into a different car. Big $$. Or just turn it into a ute and take it to car shows. Sell it back to nissan as a prototype.
  15. i might PM you for details, muz. Being that im at the point of importing one myself - things like this that you and matthew have gone through scare the shit out of me. I hope that it works out ok in the end with minimal stress and monetary loss. Good luck to both of you guys.
  16. Definately a top notch job from the photos - congrats on a very nice ride. Running out of things to do to stageas that havent been done yet! Strawberry Face conversion....????
  17. I actually got the idea for the yellow from a hot rod haha... thats how i was going to paint my ford. I reckon seeing as you have to repaint it anyway, why not spend the extra few hundred and go that little further...? But i understand... the missus... car away for one day etc... such a shame. Whenwhite over bayside blue looks so nice.... its KINDA factory colour!
  18. sounds like someone is running their engine in?
  19. Thats effin sweet... Cant wait to see and HEAR that one
  20. Now i want a yellow and white stagea.... :-(
  21. Was the aristo running a V8 4WD, or the 2JZGTE? im guess 2J, or he wouldve had YOU off the line...? 3L twin turbo 6... if toyota made an aristo wagon or similar, itd be aiiight. M35's have a MUCH bigger rolling diameter than C34's and legnums, right? the can run HUGE wheels.
  22. Stomped the aristo huh? nice job. Big wheels on that M35! Pity about that commo gettin on top of it... heavy car for a 2.5t eh?
  23. haha how rough is that line!!! i'll tidy it up if you want any ohther colours done bud
  24. Just a quick one but if you want any more colours let me know. i think having the colour up to the body line looks much classier than just the height of the door protector strip....
  25. "and this was Stagea back when it was a baby - we called it R31 Skyline back then" It was so cute... So ou are going for something that would still pass for factory as opposed to something that stands out like dogs balls? Panda stagea?
