  1. I saw that you had a stagea, was wondering if it was your tow car. Im looking to get rid of the mazda and pick up a stagea (black S2 5sp) as not just a tow car but for my daily as well. Maybe a few long tows. But i have a bike to zip around on from day to day so it cancels out!
  2. JBL and Pioneer both do an 8" 2 or 3 way speaker. One of these in either side off a small two channel will give you heaps of sound, and iff you properly run sound deadener and a diffuser behind ityou will get a fair amount of bass too. No replacement for subs, but do sound nice.
  3. Youve bought a set of JBL GTO937s or something i take it? Simple answer - yes you can but ur head unit will just run hotter, tho still be well within safe temperature. You will find that o the box it has a picture that looks like 4OHM with a tick. Long answer - Yes you can run these off a 4 OHM head unit. You will find that (if you have a multimeter) your speakers actually run about 2.5OHM. If you were to measure the ohmage of thecable from the h.u. to where the speaker is you would find it has resistance as well. I run GTO637s (6") I measured it in my car (the mazda 6) and found that if you measure the ohmage on the pos and neg wire to the speaker with the speaker hooked up, it actually runs about 3.9 in my car, and most others. A 4 ohm speaker gives you about 6-7 ohm once you take the resistance of the speaker wire into account. This is handy cos the lower resistance pulls more power out of your head unit. Makes it run a lil warmer, but nothing crazy.
  4. id be thrilled to knock a .1sec off my quarter mie time... if i thought these would do it id buy em. As it is, they seem a lil bit ghey. Employ some common sense. Yes i remember buying $10 parts in the hope that they'll make my car faster. Bt they were things like spark plugs... CAI piping... water induction.... etc A good clue is that this thread isin the 'cosmetic and styling mods' section, not the performance area. :-)
  5. THanks for the comments guys!! Yeah pretty happy with the car. Picked it up for a very good price and it has all checked out okay. My neigbour is a motor mechanic and weve gone over it with a fine tooth comb. Going for a Top Gear meet soon, should be interesting. Interesting to see what the limits of the car are, used to have a 92 SSS as a daily up til a couple of years ago. Will be an interesting comparison. I can appreciate that a lot of the work is done, but the downside of that is that i lose the knowledge and learning process that is the trial and error of setting up a car. Meaning that it will take a while to see what adjustments to camber/caster/toe/spring rates etc etc as well as tuning and such will bring to the cars handling. Going to be a long process so if you see me out there just cruise around me haha
  6. 4 channel sold. Now just two amps and two monoblocks. Price drop to $1100!!!!! Or $600 for a sub and amp combo! Or $800 for both amps! Or $400 for both Subs!
  7. Dollar for what you get id go for the 32...? Look sharper, (more like the traditional skyline shape). More nimble. Not a big fan of the look of the 33 either. Either were Nissan i think, as the 34 looks more like a 32 than the 33 does. THey went back to the sharper angular look of the GTS-X style. Personal opinion only! i know what id get!
  8. I have a car for sale!!! not a skyline tho, so its not posted in here. Yours for 5k. Just finished, started building it when i lost my licence for 18 months. Have a year left, so im going to sell it and save for something else. $5k gets you.... 1985 Falcon. 4.1L Manual 130,000km Full custom retrim interior Custom Burgundy paint with pink pearl Lowered Suspension Exedy Clutch Colour coded Brakes and suspension Full pioneer system including 2 subs, 3 amps (subs and amps painted same colour as car) 2 pairs of pioneer front splits, 6x9s, custom boot enclosure with perspex sub box. Brand new black tint (legal) Custom 18" wheels, wheels and tyres done about 500m. yes 500 metres. This is just after getting the wheels on a couple of weeks ago. Pearl paint. The car, lowered since having the wheels on - note it now has tint and a windscreen!
  9. Have personally used them and went through 3 inaccurate and inconsistent boost guages from autobarn (not their fault, tho - they were very helpful) . One was even NOISEY. If u r buying one cos u need an accurate reading of what ur engine is doing, then spend the extra for something reliable. If you want something flashy that looks cool? Go for it!
  10. What sort of condition is the actual car in? Bodywise etc and interior. aside from the boot dent and hood lining, any issues? can we get pics of interior and whole car?
  11. To be honest you dont need one. Much more to be gained y just running a decent panel filter (K&N). That way u keep ur factory fitted cold air induction, whereas a pod will just suck in the nice hot air that just come blasting through ur radiator. Unless is is a very hi-po 25DE youve got there it doesnt warrant anything more than that, and you'd probably lose power and efficiency with a pod, as opposed to gaining it.
  12. Our car is just a baby.... 91 SSS Pulsar. Cheated - was boght with a full 7pt cage, race seat and belts, suspension, tyres, B&M short shifter etc. Interior is fairly spartan but is the whole idea. Car came like this, ready for track. This is the new engine we've had built for it - Scat rods, Arias pistons, high volume sump, bigger oil galleries, shaved deck height, ported head, bigger valves, balanced crank etc built by PLR, good for 9,500rpm. $10k. Should do well in its class. Its just for top gear meets and hillclimbs plus random track days etc. Looking for a stagea for a tow car! Look forward to seeing you guys out there! Headedto the Top Gear practice session on the 6th feb, racing on the 15th i believe.
  13. The current pictures are very good and helpful, i was wondering if you also have one of the engine bay showing the conversion and such? Has it been changed to disc brake rear, or did it come with one? Is it an SL or SL/E? Thanks
  14. Went in stageas as of 1996 in DE form (non turbo) then in turbo form for the Series 2. Didnt come into Skylines til R34.
  15. Hmm he seems to be on the wrong side of the fence to be the driver... Poor bloke if he his tho. Guess he will be taking the NSX to work on tuesday.
  16. Found on page one of For Sale, Car parts And Accessories. http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/Rb...-T-t200220.html
  17. Yeah depends on whether you want to do a stock rebuild or an upgrade rebuild. If youre just talking rings and seals an a clean out...? Then there are things like crack testing blocks, balancing teh crankshaft, decking the block, relinishing your cylinder bores etc... call a couple of places and get quotes for a stock rebuild, a rebuild with a bit more strength and reliability, then for a fairly full on rebuild like the one above. I think the best answer is, it costs as muc as you are willing to spend to get the desired result.
  18. No takers! Ill have a crack at it later tonight bwud, im trying to figure out how to use it lol
  19. You can make adapters fairly easy but as above - for the sound you get they arent worth it. If you really want it done, allow at LEAST $200 to have the adapters made, basic soundproofing, and installation. Main issue is that they will sit out from your door a lot, looking bulky, getting in the road of your feet, and putting stress on your door trim.
  20. Thats the stuff i was thinking of! ^^^ Cheers skyliner86
  21. Facing glass is not an issue for subs, just tends to direct the sound forward which is ok. Only issue is that there is no way you can box them into a sealed enclosure, and as such would sound fairly hollow. Soundproof your door properly, sit a diffuser behind the speaker, and run either of these - JBL GTO607C or MTX TX6001. Run them off a small two channel, or run all four speakers of a four channel. Doesnt even have to be something pricey. $150 will do it, now is a good time of year to pick up decent 07 stock for cheap. Guarantee you will be happy.
  22. mate have you priced how much these are brand new....??? :-) Give autobarn or strathfield a call.
  23. For a decent sounding 6.5 that doesnt cost too much try an MTX TX6001. They are 6.5" components. You wouldnt need to run them of a smallish 2ch amp tho as ur head unit wont run them to even halfway close to their capacity for quality and sound volume. Or run those up front and run the coaxial version (not splits) at the rear - TDX6502, and run all four off a four channel amplifier. If you can fit a set of 6x9s in the rear you can get a lot of bass out of them, just look for something with a decent RMS power rating. Again, there is no point running these off a head unit. Depending on your budget, id look for a set of JBL GTO series speakers, ur looking at about $120-130 and sound great for the money. Nice and clear and deep. They do good splits too, for about $180. GTO937 are ur 6x9s, GTO607C are the splits. Your best bet is to go into a store and listen to a few different ones. Dont worry about power ratings or shit like that, just shut ur eyes and flick through a few and pick what SOUNDS nice. Sounds gay, but you only buy em once, they are hidden once theyre installed, so who cares what brand and what they look like. IMHO only! I know there are dfferent brands out there but theyre just a couple ive had really good remarks and feedback about, especially for the cash.
