  1. Economy perhaps but there seems to be an issue with more recent batches with longevity. Really odd..
  2. Nah, mine are still doing 295kw and 10L/100km. HIGH FFIIIIIIVVEE!!
  3. Not true. Having built one from the ground up and changed clutches, timing belts and turbos on a dozen others I can definitely say they are NOT as nice and easy to work on as the old Skyline is. You are in for a world of butt pain if this is a deciding factor in buying the said EVO. Anyway, your motives are as clear as mud and this thread puts the imagine of a peacock into my mind. A peacock standing on the roof of a skyline showing its EVO colours.. Just do the poor skyline some justice and sell it to someone who will actually drive it. Once you get the EVO you can go as far as removing the wing if it gets in the way of your shopping, etc. I say this with love <3
  4. I have previously driven a well set up soarer in anger and loved the setup, bilsteins and 'stock height' King Springs. Just a thought. True to his name this thread is on track as a trip to whitecastle.
  5. Yep, am also in a similar boat and have them maxed out for best ride.
  6. Just so you know, the 'softest' setting is not actually the softest. Its more likely to be 'bumpiest'. Coilovers are usually produced on a generic basis. The shocks are generally made in 3 or 4 sizes and used in all different models. The adjustable valve is moreso for adjusting the damper to suit your car/springrate than it is as a 'hard-soft' setting. You will probably find your car is a lot smoother set to 20 than it is set to 1, just try Back on topic: Ron, drive that 290kw cruise liner like a man and forget about EVOs.
  7. Before I say this I will say I am happy to receive a PM asking for more detail, but I would really say this needs to be done on ones own skills. I would not pay a mechanic to set this up for me, or recommend anyone else for the same. - Hang a Tial 44 off the factory manifold. Contact Stao to get him to mod a manifold and post it to you. - Buy a Kando 8cm housing (move up to 10cm if it chokes, they are CHEAP and personally I would be happy to trial and error). - Make a 3.5" downpipe and reduce to 3" at the cat. Prepare for serious levels of carnage and ball tearing torque. The money you can get for your .82 iwg will mostly pay for the above.
  8. The SS2 and SS3 compressors are successive in power ratings. SO, the SLSS3 just shown will make more power at the expense of lag.
  9. Lol I do most of my driving between 2 and 3krpm, and it definitely motors away from the traffic like that. A friend with a stock NEO 25 (cooler and exhaust) agrees my SR is better in every way. No idea what's wrong with the ones you drove lol
  10. Have had EVO, R33 and S14 in various states of tune. Also have extensive wheel time with all models with different states of tune. I have to say a Skyline is a freaking nice thing. Miss my R33 to bits... Though a 250kw EVO is quite deadly. Very potent, very fast. However, too fast. I have to say the 6 cylinder feel bores me, I much prefer the 4s.. However the EVO is definitely loss of license material. You will be speeding everywhere etc. In my S14 I am quite conscious of using power and don't want to get raped for cracking gate. The great thing is that it has fantastic torque off boost and its easy to keep it in vacuum. Makes for awesome cruising and keeping out of trouble. But, just sometimes, I get a little loose and decide to wake up all of western Sydney at 2AM. Its those moments that makes every other car I've owned redundant.
  11. Seems rare from what I know. Very easy to tell if you get it on stands though. Spins opposite ways like an open but has a whirring feeling.
  12. Yeah, this. I am running a helical centre and have traction for days. 295kw of warp speed anger.
  13. Agreed. Going to Guilt-toy was by far the best tune experience I ever had. Full stop. He took my feedback and suggestions onboard and tried what I asked. By the end of it I was more than satisfied I had the best result possible, and that is saying A LOT as I have never once felt that way prior. You definitely DO NOT need cams or gears to make use of more boost. RBs are well endowed in terms of cams from factory and you are WELL within the range of the stock cams, especially for intention of increasing boost. Though that's not to say you won't run into other issues. As noted by Mick_O I believe intercooler plumbing etc is more than crucial. I had an off the shelf kit with lots of joiners prior and after installing some custom make 1 piece pipes the difference was astounding... To say it was noticeable was an understatement. Furthermore, if PZP think your exhaust is a possible restriction why didn't they drop it before the cat? Instant answer, instant result. Sounds to me like they were too busy to invest the right amount of time into your car, and I am really sorry to put it to you that way. They definitely would have the experience to know an exhaust restriction doesn't require a new one to check.. And certainly would be smart enough to know that not dropping it from the cat may lead to a sales opportunity. That just gives me the shits TBH. Source your own 14-18psi actuator and install it before you go. Then get them to ramp it up on the dyno and see how it goes. If it wants to detonate ask them to drop the exhaust before the cat and try again (2 bolts). If you can afford it I would also look at getting your cooler pipes all redone in 2.5". You can paint them black and use black joiners if you wish, the stock items should be turfed with a setup above 250wasps.
  14. Hey mate, car was tuned yesterday and maxed 295 on 98ron. Results are in the 'GTX slip' thread Stao I will PM you about SS2 SR20 results later today.
  15. Mr Lith has it covered. Just chilling on 98 for the moment, at least until its a little more readily available. Am very happy with it. I was a little tired last night and didn't quite finish what I was trying to say: I have driven my car extensively over the last decade (previously owned by a friend) and have driven it from stock and various levels of modded states. The car has never been this good. It is way more responsive than I'd ever imagined it would be and so far has given no shortage of awe for anyone that has passengered. Most friends specifically comment to say that it feels like any other turbo car until you give it a boot full. It honestly was not this smooth or potent when it was stock.
  16. Updates for one of ye olde GTX variants. Some may be interested to know Guilt-toy is back and doing his thing. I saw him today to retune my car for the new setup and am over the moon with the result. I have never met a more approachable and reasonable tuner, and the result speaks for itself. I have driven my car extensively over the last decade (previously owned by a friend) and have driven it from stock and various levels of modded states. The current setup is as follows: Forged SR20 (not ported, not anything, just forged) 256 Poncams (non VCT) GTX3071R MX performance T3 manifold 38mm gate Nistune, FiveO 850s, Z32 Homebrew dump and all intake plumbing Results as follows: https://scontent-a-sjc.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xap1/t1.0-9/10492077_10152228519029211_1017884650130421043_n.jpg https://scontent-a-sjc.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xpf1/l/t1.0-9/10485661_10152228519059211_2427511659465411306_n.jpg
  17. Speaking of injectors: My five O motorsport 850s are still doing fine. I drove to Newcastle and back today.. Nearly went through a full tank, still have a couple of drives left in it. Have done over 500km on that tank since fill. Includes dyno tuning and a lot of excitement afterwards.
  18. Dale that sounds incredibly good! Am very happy for you mate!! Given the boost level and 98 ron that has a bloody shit load of potential for numbers. Were you not tempted to tickle the 20 mark and see what it would do?
  19. Lith: can confirm inebriation levels were insufficient for impacted coherency. Must try harder next time. As for ethanol blends, as a wog friend as their parents probably have something pretty close to e100. M@&k: when looking at compressor maps you are literally only looking at data for the compressor, so looking at the comp map for the 2867 is fine as long as the two units use the same compressor wheel and housing. As for turbine flow you can pull that chart from whichever other GT30 base unit is available. There are no maps which represent a turbo as a 'whole'. Update on my own car (for those who are aware): I am currently cruising around in it untuned and am loving life. The GTX3071 leaves nothing to be desired over any smaller turbo setup I have driven (on an SR). Trying to keep the gate closed is a challenge and the car is super fast pre-4k. I will upload a video of partial throttle spool shortly.
  20. One gate will work, but the design will be difficult. So, when are you expecting full boost with 2x T67? Before redline, hopefully?
  21. LOL!! My car is the complete opposite. Reasonably very well behaved around town, deafening when the gate cracks. I'm gonna need to sort my shit and go pay Mick a visit.
  22. Since when have we heard Micks car whistle? This is news to me lol
