Forced Performance Hta Turbos
GTScotT replied to 34GeeTeeTee's topic in Forced Induction Performance
What's stopping you exactly? Traction or what? -
I am surprised I am the first to suggest this, however a FP 3582HTA with a garden variety T3 housing would likely be a much better thing all over. In a previous results thread it was back to backed on some form of Audi, showcasing that the 3582HTA spooled closer to a GT3076 but was roughly on par for power with a GT3582. Now I don't want to the one to flog a dead horse, though the 76mm GTX wheel hasn't really had any big wins with anything we've seen so far. Certainly not like we have seen from the GTX3071 nor GTX3582. I believe even the GTX3576 result on this forum wasn't overly 'wow', either. Just going to drop this here: http://store.forcedperformance.net/merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=FP&Product_Code=NTGT3582HTA&Category_Code=Turbo-FP

With a fairly large shift to the left I'd imagine. All dreamy and stuff though, no guarantees. -

Please share the result once done. I am throwing around ideas for a low budget race car. -

They don't boost it. I used the said method with a friends DE+T and it was said to be better than most econo cars with its result. -

Run heat range 5 plugs and mix 5 litres of E85 with 20 litres of 98. It will pass with flying colours. DO NOT BOOST IT -
Don't worry, I am even surprised I was the first. By the time I was bothered to open the thread I thought it would have been resolved ages ago.

OK. Darth Vader huffing is a common GTR problem called turbo shuffle. It is most pronounced on larger twin units (GTRS/-10s) but evident on even small upgrades like the N1s and HKS 2510s. I have personal experience with shuffle using 2510s and it was very amusing. I have also known of a car with -10s to eliminate shuffle through the tune, but a retune at a different shop brought it right back. So seeing as you have reset the tune it is obvious to me that you are simply experiencing shuffle which your old tune had cancelled out. A quick search will bring up HEAPS of results. http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/topic/429218-r33-gtr-running-20-psi-boost-issues-video-inside/?hl=%2Bturbo+%2Bshuffle#entry7207476 http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/topic/419626-rb26-manifold-with-balance-pipe/?hl=%2Bturbo+%2Bshuffle#entry6806082 http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/topic/398415-rb26-twin-turbo-shufflesurge/page-6?hl=%2Bturbo+%2Bshuffle#entry6350006 http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/topic/340270-is-is-compressor-surge/page-2?hl=%2Bturbo+%2Bshuffle#entry5701590 Get reading and good luck!

Please explain the compressor surge phenomenon... What do you feel it is doing? Huffing like Darth Vader or something else?
-
Housing included or not?
-
I thought you had your own CNC machine? I thought that was how you make the billet compressors?
-
What's redline on this? Looks like it will want to break things. Lots. I want one.
-
He's answered it already. Stock ECU said 3k, as did the Nistune (coz its the same fking ecu). Now the PFC says 2600. The PFC is reading the sensor voltage that little bit off and sending the wrong reading to the cluster. WOW SUCH DIFFICULT MANY THINK MUCH SOLVED
-
Do Ron Ron, just so that I understand this properly: your car was running the stock ecu prior and doing 3000rpm @ 100km/h, then you changed to PFC and got it tuned and are now seeing 2600rpm @ 100km/h. Is this correct?

I also got off the twin scroll bandwagon a while ago. I found that the fancier dyno graph wasn't worth the less exciting linear feel. Wasn't for me. -

No. It would be good for an unopened motor also, of any variety IMO. They are about 20 years newer than the 2860, think about that in general technology terms and it should make sense why they are out performing the old stuff. -
Seems his 60ft is 2.5, maybe he didn't stall it up or had bad traction? Definitely a 12.0 in it if the 60ft just comes down to 2.0
-
LOL No. There's just no point is having a tiny little graph in the far right side of the page when there's clearly an RPM reading on the bottom. Having his true powerband printed gives a more accurate description on how it actually performs in that area, which is what counts for the end user IMHO. If it was bunched up it possibly would not be as obvious that its dropping off almost immediately after it comes on, it would possibly look more like it has peaked and was falling off naturally (clearly not the case when represented the way it is). P.S. I may need a price on some 48mm length injectors, PM me if you have le time.
