LOL Simon, that car is fast. Sky is also blue, but I just wanted to say it. How do you get your freaking helmet to fit? Im only 180cm and a helmet like yours in my S14 does nothing but trade colour schemes with my hood lining. Is the Bride mounted super low or your shorter than me or what? It shits me to tears, I need to lay my seat back heaps and slide around like a moron at the track lol

All Show With A Little Go?
GTScotT replied to Themasterbutcher's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
I respect this, your not here saying i want the bestest bestest... Your just wanting something that will still drive reasonably well at a tame boost level but is mostly for looks. Nothing wrong with that, we all build cars for different reasons and if its going to be mostly for looks surely it doesnt need to have a $30,000 engine in it. Both options mentioned above are cost effective and have massive comp housings (T67 and BW). Good luck with it mate, I like the sensible honesty of it. -
yo, that sounds pretty good. I'll start seeing if I can make it. How much will the day cost? Is it like weds nights where its $50?

A Boy's Love For His Rb20
GTScotT replied to Roy's topic in Members Cars, Project Overhauls & Restorations
Interesting to read you fitting the R32 RB25, unexpected! Valuable info tho. Kind of glad you made me read for myself, gained a bit I wanted to know lol -
Nice result Murph :-) would love to see the graph. Roy without checking your actual thread I'm guessing your now running an RB24?

Rb25 Billet Turbo Boostcreep/overboost Problem
GTScotT replied to benelli's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
FYI the spec is actually equal to a t04e with a billet wheel, thus the stage 3 rear. Have you tried watching the flapper open when it boosts? Maybe the actuator itself doesn't push it far enough -
yeah i was going to say, is the tacho right? It sounds more like 6000rpm... and if you shifted to 5th just after you crossed the line then surely you crossed the line at over 7000rpm in 4th, which would be over 200KMH in an R34 anyway (120MPH) unless you have a 4.3 diff in it... I got mine running again today. 3.6 diff in the bin and sporting a 4.11 and twin plate clutch now, its a completely different car.. traction is a nightmare. Im thinking when I go to the drags im not going to bother trying for a time, just gonna smash and grab for a MPH.

[Closed] Borg Warner Efr Series Turbos
GTScotT replied to Lithium's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Nice work mate, I like the originality of it. I want to do a 'mostly' under bonnet setup but I also want to keep AC (want to run an OEM front bar with foglights). Water to air would make that really easy, but im worried that it wont stand up to circuit work at 300kw. Keen to see more detailed results from yours. You may sway me -

That's incredibly early. Your cooler setup has somewhat inspired me, care to give more detail? -
That definitely does not sound laggy aside from the lazy launch. What are you revving it to? I think you need to wring its neck a little further and be a little less forgiving on those shifts. Try cross the line in 4th, shifting to 5th just cost you time and MPH.

lol oh ffs get a video happening. my cars been giving me the shits so im probably going to make a video over the weekend too. going to rip a big 'f*ck you' skid to say thanks for giving me hell the last few weeks. private road as usual, ill try capture my private neighbors and their private shaking fists while I do. Straya.

I'm not wanting to say tuners are fudging numbers, no. I am saying that dynos may be calibrated differently and reflect numbers which are inaccurate to real application as a result (not implying intent or malice). Thus when a customer comes in and says here's my setup, it should make up to 320kw and I would be happy with 280-300. The tuner then runs it up, hits the said number and gives the car back saying here you go - a nice and safe tune. The tuner thinks they arent pushing the motor too hard and the end user thinks they are getting what they wanted. Yet if they pushed the turbo to its maximum it would probably get much more than 300kw and net the said 120mph. In other words I think there are a lot of high reading dynos out there and lots of 'that will do' going on.
-
In relative terms it means you don't have 350HP. Like I said, someone with 300rwkw needs to go out and do 120mph. Then everyone will know they just don't have the power their dyno says they do.

I'm not suggesting that Trent's figures are wrong, but potentially the figures of other users not living up to the service they sold. I myself have been a victim over the years of mechanics with poor attitudes. You tell them you have built something yourself, or using a third party product, and they are far less inclined to give the job their 100%. Let them build the car and use all brand name parts and they are suddenly happy to put in 200% and give you back a rocking car.

Im pretty sure 1 second to build boost back up is bad mmmkay. Will wait to see le video

Nice result Nick, now change your clutch and off to the drags Stao the cars have the ability to hit 220-240km, regardless of model and gear ratio options (of the usual diff and gearbox combos available). The speed at the end of the drag strip is mostly down to weight and power. You can generally calculate what MPH should be reached by knowing those two. What I need to see if a stock manifold IWG G3 with claimed 300kw hit 120MPH (200km) down the strip. Then I will be comfortable to say the cars with low trap speeds must have issues. If we arent able to prove a G3 capable of 120MPH the first thing I would debunk is the FNT. Run with and without to see if there is a difference. Seeing as you have already taken your existing turbo technology to its peak, and are getting good numbers with good response, I would say doing back to back drag runs would be your next point of call. Have a little fun while truly proving the product. I myself am a full believer and own an SS1PU for anyone interested, I am just wanting the proof to back up my beliefs.
-
All we need is one person to do 300kw and trap 120 with a G3 and we can make a call on this situation. Just one result I reckon. I'm not expecting my car to let me down. at present it has an ARP bolt snapped in the crank though, so my planned drag trip is a little delayed.
-
Have seen stock turbo evo's do 120mph, that's a TD05H 16G. Stao you really need to get your car out to the track with an SS2 or G3 attached. It's the only solution.

WOAH, water to air cooler... Care to share any details for a fellow SR owner? Is that going to be drag application only or circuit use also? I can barely see the hoses underneath for water circulation.. How intense is the system? -
another low trap speed.... If only you had a highmount you could be rash and lash out on a T67 to see what happens.
-
That depends on what rims, width and offset. Hardly anyone would be able to answer that properly.. the short answer is yes, with the right rim.
-
For the record the RB20 box is no different to the CA18, SR20, RB30ET etc.. There are plenty of people out there with big power SR's who run the stock box, they aren't tooth picks waiting to snap.. Just need to treat it right. For myself I will probably look for a billet gearset when the time comes as the money on a second hand RB25 box conversion rivals the cost... And I would much rather have a rebuilt billet box than an old sloppy RB25 box.

Actually the forum is for accumulating relevant information to help everyone. It's useless having 300 different threads all about the same thing, forcing people to read too far and wide for one thing and forcing others to answer the same questions over and over. If we keep everything in one thread we can make it easy to find information and most people will probably find that their questions are already answered.
