  1. FYI I recently called 6boobed Kyle about a manifold with alternate evo flange and unfortunately he wasn't interested. He would only do odd flange types if they were basic single scroll options IE evo 3 or tial v band. As for cheaper manifold options I have seen a couple of cheaper manifold based setups go wrong now and I am of the personal opinion the manifold was to blame. Physical damage scenario. Better to stick to a trusted item at the moment as warranty on cheapies is limited.
  2. Just keep it on vacuum and cruise conditions and it should be OK. Don't let it start spooling up though, I've changed cams in a car of mine recently and thought it would be OK to putt around.. Never have I been so wrong. The knock was incredible, am worried ill be pulling the motor my brother just put in the car.
  3. lol @ and a few skids. Just get the intake pipe off and check for shaft play. if its anything to worry about it would be that, and it should be excessive to make any noise. my guess is you have had a pipe shift and its just the sound of turbulence. that OR the turbo to manifold gasket, bolts coming loose. when my rear studs were sabotaged years back the car sounded like a hektic gum leaf surge slot whistler and then suddenly the gasket let go and it became a diesel. was silent once i changed the turbo gasket.
  4. LOL yeah you know, moving house this week. bought my own place. fun times, sir SR is on the back burner for now. what about you? anything to add to the kando land chat thread?
  5. Wait I thought this was stock manifold, what manifold is it for slat to let go? I ask because ive seen a known brand manifold do this to a kando recently.
  6. Det damage is a decent guess, but that would raise massive concern for the motor itself. Scary.. Hope all is well.
  7. Its a 300 page old thread with tons of info and the same questions being asked over and over, usually with guys like me replying and not being a total prick telling people to read the thread from start to finish. I think we are allowed a little banter.
  8. and sing to cheesy 80s tunes, yes. actually i just bought my own home and got the keys on monday, so i will definitely be doing the above just because i can.
  9. Do you have any notes or pics of it laying around? I am in need of inspiration. Mine is the mechanical K-jetronic setup.. I actually got it running nicely with some tweeking but for gods sake the car feels slow compared to anything turbo.
  10. leave it in the garage buddy i recently changed cams in my brothers car and on the slightest load its detonating its ass off. One go around the block and there were pock marks on the plugs. Nothing changed except the cam. Its that sensitive at times, so save yourself the motor and leave it till you can afford the ecu.
  11. Simon s14 already did .63 ewg, he even moved it to his RB30 lol
  12. What have you changed in this new ss2.5? Is it a turbine change? PM me if you would prefer
  13. IMHO the flex fuel will let the .63 sit on the upper limits and net you the magic 300. I am all for this move, I think its going to be great if the rest of the car is up to the task. Just make sure you get the right housing.
  14. lol current thought project of mine is a 4 barrel on my 928 porsche.. just need to think of how id do the intake manifold to sit the carb. 78 model porka, may aswell get 70s tech lol
  15. C'mon mate, we know they don't make em like they used to. It's missing a Holley double pumper and a high rise manifold. Beryl would not approve.
  16. Despite the above I do have a reasonable level of faith/respect for the yellow jacket coils and their suppliers. The suppliers on this forum actually send out a batch of the product to have it tested in the real world by regular users. Given that there will still be a failure here and there that is a good way of getting a feel for the product and its worth in the market. As such I wont write off the yellow jackets just yet, most people do fine out of them.
  17. yep, over stressed and over worked then your immune system says fk you if your not taking a break i will. and WHAM you catch a virus
  18. haha ok no worries. the flu knocks me around like crazy too. get better soon!
  19. ROFL oh man.. dont forget we got to write posts that everyone can follow in future. when you said having put the alloy elbow makes it more of a pain in the ass i just wanted to put a post so that anyone else in future knows its not coz you cant clock it back to the right spot LOL BERYL...
  20. BERYL I guess it will save you fully removing it. You should have done it my way from the start though. Having already done the comp cover is no biggie though coz you can just clock that too
  21. lmfao @ old darren just clock the core man, trust me. I did it to mine when it had the exact same issue and the hose slipped on like a glove. No glove no love! itd be a couple of mils off at the most, just leave the core bolted into the housing loosely and then dummy fit the turbo to the manifold. Fiddle with the core position until you get it to fit with hose down the bottom (so it slips on with no kink in the hose, it wont be too short if u only move it enough to fix the kink). when you have it in the right spot tighten one of the bolts on the rear housing so that it fits and remove it all so you can tighten it properly knowing its in the right spot. then re fit the shit knowing its all tight and clocked in the right spot. Dont overcomplicate whats this easy! lol If you werent out in the desert somewhere id come help out
  22. Darren my SR was the same... and I can tell you why and what it is... its because... stao... can't guess exactly where the turbo needs to be clocked lol. you just need to loosen the bolts on your rear housing and clock it a little to make it line up right again. Then clock the compressor again to put that right too. simple as that! Cmon man I'm too young to be telling you this shit lol
