What Kind Of Turbo Did I Buy?
GTScotT replied to 265kw at the wheels holmes's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Your numbers are wrong. It should be 706451-5015 which means its a 35R, unsure what trim though. You really should have known what you were buying before you bought it lol, rather than buying a random turbo and asking people on a forum what it is. -

so you boosted it to 14, and it started running terrible. now its making a knocking noise when you start it? where are you located dude? -

When you say you adjusted boost, what did you do? Have you tried turning the boost down back to stock? -
Top Mount / Mid Mount Manifold With Stock Turbo.
GTScotT replied to reeceo21's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Just replace the stock manifold unless you are ready to sink 10k into a setup thats actually worth your time. It adds up quick in the long run, and nothing you could do wont need an ecu, injectors and tuning at minimum (3k). proper manifold and turbo setup will cost close to 5k, by the time your supporting mods are also sorted your way over 10. High mounting the stock turbo will need all new pipes and lines, even if you did it using cheap chinese manifolds and bits, and kept the stock ecu etc, i still see it costing up to the 3k mark again. Very long story short: if all of the above is not your plan and you just were thinking about upgrading coz the manifold shat itself.. replace the stock manifold and use the money for other things. -
Gtx Compressors - Did Garrett Set The Bars Right ?
GTScotT replied to discopotato03's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
That's a pretty serious suggestion imo, and shouldn't be overlooked. To arm people with facts this could easily be built by hypergear. In fact the HG highflow profile is actually a small trim 76mm compressor on a T3 turbine of some sort. Something im also going to be asking him about. the said highflow unit is said to be nonsensical in stock housings for response, and is track/hill climb proven. Apparently they breeze to full boost on the highway with the lightest throttle. I've also been out on the road with one, chase cam from a T28 SR.... The particular model was a PU highflow which has the .82 rear housing on the same unit. The car was tuned @ 250kw by jem but had some issues, vct wasn't working for starters and it was running insanely rich. But... No sign of resistance. The T28 SR with its OEM response had nothing over it, and 250kw is obviously out of ballpark for a T28.. so the speed was immense. I am confident in saying an OP6 variant would meet and exceed Disco's demands, if he can stomach the thought of a homebrew turbo. -
Awesome dude, sounding really promising. Maybe grab some cam gears while your on the job? Bring full song closer to the 4k mark, which for an RB20 making reasonable power is a good result I'm sure it also feels a hell of a lot punchier once your moving too, and squirting it in and out of corners. Am anticipating 240kw, let us know how you fare!

Yeah his old TD06 was the 3 bolt internal gate type, the shoddy one we all steer clear of. So now hes on par with everyone else, using a normal T3 Vband housing and the 3" comp cover. Thus using a 10mm spacer like the rest. Kane how does the TD05H go compared to the old TD06H? Happy with the change?
-
it shouldnt have a resistor pack....... maybe the old owner had RB26 injectors on his RB20. rip out the resistor pack asap! Like I said....... Need to check all the wiring and make sure everything is how it should be! Sounds like they didnt do the swap all that carefully.

You know for a thumb suck you have done really well as a guesstimate on how these turbos will match. A 3076R generally DOES want to sit at about 18psi and Mick_O definitely did hit a wall at 25! Generally 14psi is also all that you need from a GTRS also, and 17psi is over stressing the thing. Pretty sure garden variety 3071s also seldom see anywhere near 20psi also. Given there are other variables to be considered I think that plot is a damn fine representation for 'rule of thumb'. -
This resource will help with the AFM: http://www.paulr33.com/ Just to confirm that a green label AFM will work with both an R33 S1 and S2 ecu, no worries. It does sound like you either have an AFM or a TPS issue. My guess is that the wiring to either of these is still the OEM R32 harness and you need to switch the wiring around. Check all your wiring, make sure everything is connected the right way.

Gtx Compressors - Did Garrett Set The Bars Right ?
GTScotT replied to discopotato03's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Where can a laymen like us get the fabled TR30R disco? This I would love to know. -
The T67 comp cover is a lot larger than your usual .60 sized covers and even the garrett .70 Are you sure a 12mm spacer will cut it?

GTScotT replied to discopotato03's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Yep, we certainly arent suggesting a TD05H 20g. However a TD06SL2 turbine is something you yourself have referred to as being wanted in the market - 61mm turbine with a mid 70s trim. Hypergear took that and added his billet compressor to the following E85 based effect: http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/topic/261613-hypergear-hiflow-service-continued/page-345 -
LOL indeed. E85, the greener choice!
-
He's referring to the fact there's still something in it LOL

Realistically a TD06SL2 20G covers the 68mm gap, and that is exactly what FP sell. The 68mm wheel is from their MHI range of turbos and replaces an OE 68mm wheel on the said OE MHI turbo. There are results on this thread already for what a said SL2 20G can do, they are in the upper 200kw bracket on pump and an easy 300 on E85. Stao at hypergear has also redeveloped his own 20.5G billet item which recently maxed out at 350kw with amazing response. My thoughts are that people should explore the left field options also before consistently relying on garrett results. -

You just need to tell me what housing to supply, as I will be buying the Tial housing soon. At the moment I was going to buy a .64 suit GT28, but if you want me to get a GT30 spec housing just let me know. Yet the GT30 are 60mm 84 trim, so we might be better off using the .64 GT28 housing anyway so we can profile it up. The GT30 housing would need a sleeve which I am not too confident in doing. Can you tell me the specs of your highflow turbine? From memory its a 60mm but different to whats in a G3?
-
Yet a 363kw 3037 can't be a bad thing. Are you looking for more power or just want to try it out?
-
I'm curious if a GTX3576R would be happy in a .63 housing. I have seen 1JZ dudes run 35R's in .63s and they have been fine. The turbine wheel size makes up for the housing constraint and its fairly responsive. I'm not totally confident but that could be an option in a high mounted and well gated setup.

Gt3582 On A Hks Cast Iron Low Mount On A 25/30 In A R33 ?

Well if a 3040 fit a 35R will also fit. Same housings and chra.
