  1. My SR SS1PU tune is now complete. Result was 235rwkw on 98 in todays 45 degree heat, 18psi of boost. Unigroup noted the tune has been pegged back a little more than normal as the motor is brand new (no road time) and will be used for track only duties over the next 12 months. They state it reached 248 with an extra degree of timing but chose not to push it because of the above mentioned factors, told me to bring it back once its done some actual road time and they can stretch it further but also mentioned its probably not going to be that noticeable. Not bad for a 45 degree day, Im sure it will be a rocket. Thanks for the great turbo Stao.
  2. LOL just decided to drop that off did you? lol cant wait man
  3. Very nice build mate! I liked the page and am very impressed. This was something I always dreamed about as a boy, but ended up living with far more ordinary setups haha
  4. cheers for posting, it turns out the 3794 is a much larger turbo than I expected. Ive been curious about their 3788 HTA for some time now, but dont think it will spool anywhere near like what I had imagined after seeing this.
  5. my SR SS1PU is at unigroup now. am going to give them a call with some final instructions for how id like my powerband to fall so i can sit back and wait for the results. possibly going to have to trade some of my top end for response though as im not running VCT. will still be a good indication for S13 type SR owners.
  6. Tomei Poncams 256/256 should give a gain over the entire powerband (with an aftermarket turbo mostly). If you went 264 - 272 you would then be trading low range power for top end.
  7. haha game on! I'll let you know when im heading down.
  8. if I were to own another R33 I would definitely be running his normal 2IU highflow on it. Simple setup which will be really hard to beat on the short courses and twisties. one of those with a plug n play ecu he can sell as a pack, FMIC and TBE, fuel pump and injectors, metal intake, wham 240kw. 4 grand could do it all with change depending on what you have on the car already.
  9. if you remember I came out to st marys station and bought a .64 housing off you ages ago lol im the same guy
  10. Non VCT man, I ditched the VCT because its too problematic in the SR's. Went with S13 type cams and got adjustable gears instead. I'll just let them boost it till it stops making power to be honest lol, yeah I will get out to the creek once its all done for sure. Never been before though so for the first few times I plan to be just watching the traps to see if it backs up the power. Dont have any bags either so a little worried about what tyres to run too.
  11. lol thanks man. so far so good, it runs well and sounds solid without a drop of oil or smoke. Its taken me 6 months to build it, funds permitting, so Im really looking forward to a rewarding result wherever possible.
  12. Mine is running Poncam type R's 256/11.5 Also a freshly built motor, bc springs/retainers/gears, cp pistons, manley rods, 850ccs, the works. The only thing im worried about is my HD clutch, fingers crossed on that front. It will be dropped off at unigroup on Tuesday and ill be telling them to put my backyard skills to the real test.
  13. Yeah, I'm wondering if its something to that effect or if the SS1PU is just superior. By COB next week I will know just how well the SS1PU performs on my SR.
  14. Stao I had been waiting for these results for some time now, but I can see that the SS1PU on 98 fuel is still trumping them in every way? On 98 the SS1PU (71mm) has more power and torque @ 3000 and 4000 RPM than both. In theory the 60 and 64mm compressors should at least have more @ 3000 and I would have thought the 64mm would have more at 4000? Especially considering the 60 and 64 were tested on E85 and highmount and the SS1PU was not. Ultimately I cannot see the SS1PU doing anything but smashing these turbos in every way once on par. Considering your SS1PU result was on the stock manifold and 98, and these are on a highmount EWG with E85. Any thoughts?
  15. Part and parcel of modding a car. From memory Birds got 260kw from a Hypergear SS1PU using stock intake pipe, airbox and cooler pipes. Running a full 3" TBE and return flow intercooler IIRC. nothing to say the OP couldnt do the same... I would recommend the 3" intake though.
  16. The GCG highflow is something like $2500 Hypergear is more like $880, and I prefer his service every day of the week. I have heard extremely good feedback re his highflow. OP please remember that if you change the turbo to something other than stock you will need a tunable ecu and a tune at minimum (to make it work safely). However, you will then be limited by everything else that should have been changed. Here are your two options: - replace the blown turbo - replace your intercooler with a front mount kit (you will want it later anyway) Do this and you will be back on the road ASAP, provided that you clean everything well and no damage was done to the motor (no point fretting on it just install the parts and see what happens). OR - Have turbo rebuilt by Hypergear to whichever spec you decide (normal hiflow profile works well and is cheap) - order a adaptronic ECU from Hypergear with your turbo, you will get an awesome discount buying as a package. this ecu will also mean you don't need an AFM anymore and dont need to buy a Z32 AFM. Get the car tuned by the same tuner Hypergear uses Chequered Tuning. - replace intercooler with front mount - ensure you have a 3" turbo back exhaust - put a 3" metal intake - install walbro fuel pump or similar - install upgrade injectors if seeking over 220kw (550cc minimum but recommend larger) The second option is likely to cost you about 5 grand but will be rewarding once done. If you cant afford the 5 grand stick to option 1 and just fix it.
  17. All the T3/T4 ones are, AFAIK. If you got one of their garret copy items it would have a water cooled core (IE the T28/GT30 variant stuff).
  18. Yours honestly isnt laggy Ron, its pretty decent. Full boost threshold is pre 4000 which is decent. Peak toque isnt far off. It didnt make the 300 you hoped for but then again its close enough. The result is pretty decent as is
  19. later go a set of poncams and E85, will be a different beast again
  20. Post the sheet if possible as I'm checking interest with a couple of mates currently. Its priced too well to let slip.
  21. This. I'm sure I've seen it but damned it I could find it over the weekend... Spent hours searching.
  22. that is insanely priced.... should sell in a heart beat. I am assuming the ECU is already tuned and the new owner just needs to install and rock on?
  23. Lol will be an epic build story in the end
  24. what farking car have you had at a paint shop for 2 years? I would assume the panel shop stole it off me LOL and what size is that PT?
  25. If you take your time with this and do an EPIC amount of research you should be able to save a lot of money and get the job done much cheaper. If you are not skilled in the area you should have the motor stripped down to a long motor (cover to sump). For what you describe I would purchase the following items and deliver them along with the motor to a reputable builder: - Forged pistons and rods (buy these after builder confirms what size bore you will need to use) - Upgraded oil pump - New water pump - New timing belt kit - Crank nose extension (if pre 94 R32 crank being used) - Oil gallery restrictors to head - Quality head gasket (buy this in a kit with intake gaskets etc) Let the builder do the rest and give you back the long motor all reassembled and ready to put back in. I am confident this can be done within the 15k budget. If you are SUPER ANAL I think you could squeeze a pair of -9s and a Nistune into the mix too and be 90% of the way to your 330kw goal within the rebuild budget. Be it myself I am very confident I could get it done, based on my own recent build.
