I pitty tuners! Especially you It seems so many cars get given to you and they are just loads of problems and so hard to get right Will be interesting to see if you can get results that give a clear indication of whether the anti surge housings hurt performance at all.
-
Exactly, but you know come a big accident it is going to blow back that way. You hear it all the time "the scrutineers let it run". There are plenty of good fabricators, and cage builders out there but you wonder what would happen to some of the cars if they went in at turn 1 Skaife-Winfield Commodore style etc. You prey another Todd Wilkes isnt on the cards as some of the cars have nothing structural forward of front suspension pick ups and you have to wonder how they would go in a big off doing sub 1;35s

Did anyone else see the aero failure on the EVO the other day at EC? Looked pretty scary! I would hate to be a scrutineer at WTAC

The noise thing will always leave people upset. You can be sure the officials hate being the ones telling you that you have to go home....it is a thankless job and they are just doing what track management instruct them to do re noise warnings. A guy I know who races in the state series was telling me that the noise is a strange thing....he was saying on overcast days his and fellow competitors cars always read higher. On windy days they get away with their better flowing mufflers...and he had to do a custom weber airbox as after quietening up his 9,000rpm twin cam 4 he was still getting pinged for what ended up being induction noise. So gates etc are a no-no and even street systems will have trouble on certain days. Leon got away at Sandown with the worlds loudest SR20 but I got done only bedding brakes and cruising around in 1:25s. Its BS, and part of the reason why I have not tried Sandown since being booted twice in 4 weeks -
I read he went the whole race with no KERS. Pretty difficult to hold off the likes of FI, Sauber etc with no KERS

Any updates? I imagine you would be having some cracking weather at the moment...keen to see some in car vids

High Octane Coatings Vs Comp Coatings Vs Jet Hot Vs Hpc Etc
Roy replied to Roy's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
All encouraging, but how long have you been running the manifold, turbine housing coatings. This ca is driven around 1000kms a month and does some sustained wide open throttle stuff so will get plenty of heat in it doing some fun days at the track. I have decided will be givign Comp Coating a go in Coburg and see how they go -
Meant to be me. I got persmission about 8 weeks ago and slowly going through the thread from back to front noting times in a spreadsheet to update. Probably another 2-3 weeks away

Hi people, just wanting to hear peoples thoughts on High Octane coatings. I have used Competition Coatings, HPC, Jet Hot in the past and have my thoughts on the respective pros and cons of them....I have not used High Octane coatings in the past. Anyone used their black manifold/turbine housing coating and can speak to its durability? http://www.performancecoating.com.au/turbocharger-coating My own experience has HPC the best for quality and durability...no surprise they are they most expensive. Competition Coatings and Jet Hot about the same, with perhaps Jet Hot being a tad more durable but less range of colours and finishes.

Do you have the manifold and gate to go with it? What size compressor cover does it have? 2.4" or 3". It could be basically the same setup as I am running which means around 250-265rwkws is doable if you have all the right bits and a decent tune

Seriously cheap turbo!

44 but had loads more in it conidering the problems he was having...thought he put it on the trailer early after popping the engine that weekend as well

Lewis you dirty little root rat. Would think if Lewis leaves a club with some girls who come back to his room then you would have to think he could do better than these munters!

That S15 was quick at PI too with very limited running...Nicely built and presented car
-
So what McLaren are saying that is a gold kart with some sparklers off the back is as quick as their 2012 F1 car

I want to buy locally, but not when I can import and even with shipping charges I can still get a free tyre. ie only pay 75% the local cost. I don't understand why their pricing structure is so much higher then OS agents -

This is doing my head in. So the RS3 are cheaper then the AD08 and 595RSR...so maybe these would be the go. I have to go local if I want to enter PI, or can import and go with a saving. And may I just add, I dont begrudge anybody a living. Good on them being able to make a comfortable living...but I got soem local vs import prices for RS3s and they still come out$200 cheaper if you import them ... Crazy!!!! Long live the internet. Oh and Artz...no dice re pads....it seems I made the offer to someone else previously and never got them back Leon got my old spare calipers so whatever Sumitomo pads I had left I think they were in those GTR calipers. I do have some F40s with near new pads though -
Havent listed above but also have an R32 RB26 block which has N1 water and oil pumps, crank collar and rwd sump. Was rebuilt less than 5,000kms ok but a ring failure means slight scoring iin one of the cylinders. Currently running R33 N1 pistons and balanced, shot peened std rods with ARP bolts. Asking $800 collection only....otherwise it will be the building block for the RB24

So just read a review and in the same dry test on a track the KU36 was only 0.2sec slower then the AD08 and are about half the price. They claim they actually have more grip but dont have the feel or stability of the AD08 so in some of the quick changes of direction the car wallowed a little. Tempting to try and get some 275 rears and 255 fronts. Have to do some ringing around in the morning -

Well I got done for a scary amount of money due to tax law changes whilst I was working OS. That burn meant I couldn't buy an R31 GTS-R that I am pining for -

I am waiting to see what tax man has in store for me this year after years of being severelly anally raped by him. I would like to make the most of the next few track days with the RB20 making the power it is so will hold off until i have some AO50s. That was if the engine pops then I at least had a chance of getting the most out of the setup with a std RB20...as the next step will be stroked goodness with billet bits, multi throttle inlet and 6 speed -

Nope...I only have my 18s with a set of 10yr old Pirellis that have bulges in the sidewall My 17s are bald and wont pass scrutineering and can't bring myself to spend 2k on tyres...so no track work for me until I have had a holiday -

It still has a 20G on it at the moment but have a billet TD06L2 to try when I can get around to installing it and the tuner is a little bit quieter. Racepace are pretty busy with preparing some World Time Attack entered cars so don't want to bother him with tuning my thing until he has had a breather
