It seems Webber had a different final gear as well so he was even slower than Vettel. Nothing is payingg off for Webz...hope he gets a fair crack next race otherwise he will lose touch with vettel/Alonso for the WDC

Come on...you always judge driving in a vacuum. At the same track last year Hamo moved over on Kobayashi and caused a nasty accident at Les Combes. Button moved over on Hamilton and put him into the wall. When its all going on and you are moving past a car and judging whether you have cleared them many have made mistakes in their careers. Others have done and do it. Agree about spatial awareness but Hamo got a poor start and Romain was clearing him and made an error with Hamo still hanging around on the inside. You have to look at things on merit and you cant say Romain is to blame for the 7 incidents he has had early this year! Australia was a hatchet job by Maldanado. The Schuey clash was a light touch in the wet and a racing incident (More experience may have avoided it) . The start at Monaco was just the meat in the grinder between Massa and Schuey. Romain has had a 2nd, two 3rds, a 4th and two 6ths...he has had one poor incident at Spa. He was probably on for a solid second at Valencia as well. I like and rate the guy but we have seen this sort of thing time and time again. People forget the changes KERS and DRS have made to race starts. Pre the devices people used to commonly push for gaps that may close up knowing that the first lap was where the race was made. These days everyone is more patient knowing there will be opportunities due to tyre deg, KERS and DRS....so no saying it was not a mistake but I dont get the penalty and all the blood in the water. Either way it will be a good test for him to come back and see how he drives. I still really hope he and Kimi each bag a win before the end of the year. Just found this to jog peoples memories when they start going about his "overly aggressive starts" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x90zXuS1xKc I reckon this article has it about right http://willthef1journo.wordpress.com/2012/09/03/spa-stewards-standards-and-safety/

I hope that doesnt mean dead 350Z -
I can't believe with some of the hatchet moves we have seen from drivers the past two years that Romain has been given a one race ban for the start line accident. THATS IS WAY TOO HARSH A PENALTY!!!!

Webber screwed again by RBR reliability! FARK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How come Crompton gets to sit in Webber's car? He is Channel 7 these days...lucky bastard

My car doesnt do that many kms these days because I don't have far to travel for work. When I am on site it does plenty, like the 400km one way trip to Mulwala etc. But I still drive the thing most weekends and 3 days of the working week. The last 6 years I have been OS for almost 3.5years of it but my car still has done 60,000kms since moving to Melb in 2004...so factoring in the time OS its still >10,000kms per year. So you could be right about the number of kms being less than some...but still on the road frequently. And GTSBoy, I dont get it ....you list reasons why its illegal and then say you have the same thing done to your car and never had a trouble with Regency, because its not dodgy? Well, that's the same experience I am echoing, do it right and neatly and I doubt you will have a problem. Hell yours is probably worse than mine as if you look at the drivers side inner guard you can see the pressed stell markings where on a GTR they would be cut from the factory. There is no welds in the skin or ribs that I remember that you cut through, and the whole thing is basically the same between GTSt and GTR. Cutting an additional hole on the passenger side is probably worse as the shell may not have been designed to ever have a cutout there.

I know someone running Farndon gear in a Mk1 Escort. Has proven to be a good thing but for a 4 cylinder crank I don't think their 6 cylinder option is going to be any cheaper than other options.
-
Wow. I have had my car for 13 years and for 12 of those it has had a hole cut in the inner guard for the intercooler. It has been for countless road worthiness certificates in NSW and also passed in Vic. I have had two accidents with two different insurers and one of them required replacement of the exhaust and intercooler...no voiding of insurance. If you can get cooler piping sorted for a reasonable price then go for it. The problem with GTR coolers is that they work out far more expensive then all the kits getting around which include piping for connecting it; all well under the cost of custom piping to make the GTR cooler work

I recognise the inlet is not factory...when the new rules came in the Holden engine users were allowed to run different inlets. But you are probably right if the car is genuine its probably running a chev of some other non original engine.
-
How can you tell it has a Chev? If you are looking at the siamese headers then its possible its running early 304/308 heads

If this thing is the real deal then you would kill to own it http://my105.com/Lis...6/Default.aspx# One of the best quali laps ever http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SWOq94g2HB0&feature=player_embedded#!

Stick with the std crank and enjoy the 8k left in your bank to do 10-12 track days or go on a holiday with the change. You will still have a bonkers fast car with a properly sorted 2.6L. But if you must surely the Brian Crower kits add up on the performance vs cost stakes

Oh I agree. But my god the spend in the sport is stoooooopidly high just to get your name on the dance card. I am a BIG Caterham fan and out of all the new teams I love how Fernandes has approached building the team. Gascoyne is a clever guy at pulling things together and getting teams operating on small budgets but the team needs more engineering grunt. Its a shame they didnt get Kay and it seems Symonds is going to Marussia upon completion of his ban

Crazy amount of money being spent to be 18th with the hope of better
-
I picked up the OE, std equipment, that is original factory Nissan, ie doesn't break gearboxes and allows for faster shifts shifter for you on the weekend. Irrespective of whether you need to keep the gearbox or not...you should use a std shifter !
-
Done. Will get on it over the next few days once I have finished the new loom for the Sierra
-
Serious it was a Chasers engine? I thought I read somewhere that it was a Nitto stroker kit which was assembled by JHH including all the head work
-
So when are we going to see the footage from one of the WTAC laps?
-
That is bonkers quick! What tyres?
-
Either way...they built a weapon of a car and its his money so good luck to him. I know if I had the same opportunity I would build my car for me and probably wouldnt let on what it cost. But from what I had read he has been very open about the build process so good on him. I have changed my tune

So I had a heater hose under the inlet go on me the other week in traffic. I completely cooked the engine with so much steam coming out the bonnet I had trouble steering down a slip road. It turns out with steam whistling through the system I cracked the overflow bottle. Have you got anything to replace the std reservoir. I may cut and tape up a breather.overflow setup that you can go to town on for me?!?!?

Yeh, some numbers I heard for a carbon rear diffuser and bar was 20-30K not including the plug. So there would be loads of hours in the plug to make that a pretty scary number for about a 1/4 of the cars aero

He would know better then anyone being the owner. The question is whether he really wants people to know how much its cost. I know when I dream up muy ultimate Exige etc Gearbox 35k + setup and clutches and paddle shift...so more like 50k Engine 30k Suspension and brakes 20k Diffs and wheels/tyres - 10k Data Logging and electronics - 20k The good gear means the cost goes through the roof very quick
