  1. Man, my old val had a rebuilt 245, box and diff with nothing special in the brakes department it towed 32' boats, Chev Impalas, RX3s I bought it off my mechanic that didnt want to tow with his Calais so this was the workhorse with mechanicals that he rebuilt. That's why it was a good buy. It certainly didnt tow like a landcruiser but it did the job Will have to wait and see how tidy this thing is this weekend
  2. I can't believe the traffic you have to contend with. I have been to a few Pistenclub days and they're never near as packed.
  3. XR6 Turbo engine and box/loom are pretty cheap. Chuck it on gas and should still be a decent enough thing economy wise...sound better too. This animal even has blinds. Is it wrong to want your first car again 18 years later?
  4. Yeh but his age is? Also what experience does he have of actually racing? Defending a line, overtaking...the sort of race craft the likes of Faildanado and Romain Cashagain have more of. None the less it was impressive but at the time I remember reading James Allen or Joe Saward saying that it was on quali fuel load and new tyres against others doing testing - development work, so suggested it was much like Rossi's Fezz tests. Impressive at the turn of pace they have but a long way off being able to drive the things at the speed required to have a seat
  5. Well I should have been clearer. I am looking at a neat VF Valiant this weekend and the old slant 6 wont be much chop for towing so want to throw some late model engine/box at it for towing. Sounds like the TD42 is a decent enough thing...which is what a friend was recommending
  6. Hoping others can save me some research which I will probably end up getting wrong anyway. If you were to retrofit a diesel 6cylinder into an older car what would you go for? Preferably behind a good auto but if manual is the way to go then happy to go manual. Landcruiser, Patrol..other. Just needs to be a grunty, reliable and ecnomical 6cyl good for towing a 1300kg Skyline.
  7. 3076R...Als thing is amazing and ditto other RB30 guys who have copied/run the same setup
  8. That footage you posted of Aus GP looks bad. If you watch the BBC on boards and replay, mostly showing the lead up to the corner it doesnt look so black and white. All the commentary seems to back up Faildanado being a but ruthless. I also just went back and watched the Malaysian GP incident. Again you cant see enough to judge on the footage you posted. BBC show on board from Schuey and then from Vettel who was directly behind and Webber got around the outside of Romain under braking and Schuey tied himself to Webber's bum and went aroun the outside. Romain hugged the corner and stayed tied and picked up some white line and kerb and drifted a tad sideways holding it too tight and when side by side just past the apex made light contact. I say light contact as thats all it took as it was a wet race, with spray and cars going side by side through turns 1, 2, 3 and 4 before contact. Fault does lie with Romain but its hardly any different to the other loads of accidents that happened in that race, several far more moronic like Vettel-Karthikayan-Button etc. DC calls Romains mistake and I agree.
  9. Have you seen the incident from other angles? I re-watched the Aus GP a few weeks back and Romain gave him some space on the inside even though Faildanado was nowhere near alongside of him. In the vid you posted you can see how Romain didnt carry any throttle and took a wide line with lock on to avoid impact, he gave all the room he could. Sure I hear what you say about the inside driver taking the racing line but the great thing about Button, Alonso, DiResta, Hulk, Senna, Kimi and to a lesser extent Webber, Rosberg and co reaslise that crowding the other guy is a pretty good way of damaging your own race result, especially when you have the job done. Romain in European GP raced like a champ with respect for others...I cant think of many times Faildanado has raced hard and neatly with others without hatchet moves of putting the other driver to the sword. I have to say you only have to look at Alonso's moves on Massa, Vettels on Webber etc to see that team mates often put the other driver to the sword as they know the other will fold to avoid clashing....its open season when you try that with other teams
  10. Also "In 15 races this season, Grosjean has been involved in seven first-lap, and one second-lap, incidents." Is anybody bothered to list them? Also ... http://www.bbc.co.uk...rmula1/19866129 Gary Anderson used to be a commentator on the F1 telecasts in Asia and when I want in Singapore/India/Malaysia he was the only guy that had a clue and I generally go along with his way of thinking. I happen to agree with him in this instance. Japan was in my eyes his only really stupid mistake this year. The rest are all either close calls or racing incidents which are adding up to him getting a beating. Hence why I am curios to review the incidents. Ok...from memory - Aus GP - Lap 2 Maldanado. No way it was his fault, Faildanado was heavy handed much like he was on DiResta in Hungary - Malaysia when he got jiggy wth Schuey in some 3 wide action on the opening lap which resulted in Schuey spinning? 100% racing incident but his hopeless lose in the slippery conditions in later laps was ordinary - Monaco, Fezz moved over on him and he moved left clipping the front of Schuey who was on the rail behind him and to his left. 100% start line racing incident - Spa , silly move to the right trying to shore up his inside line to the first corner. Having overtaken Hamo off the line thought he was clear but wasnt. It was miles less stupid then Hamo's move on Kamui at Spa last year at Les Combe and other incidents and had none of the malice Vettel had when running into Webber in the sphincter of the universe...so clumsy yes but not enough to demand a tar and feathering - Now Japan which was a stupid mistake trying to keep the Sauber to the outside...to the point he didnt see the closing speed to Webber I cant remember the other hatchet drives he is being accused of? I read them on the BBC website but dont remember them. I susepct the Spanish GP was a shocker but cant really remember it Australia - collides with Pastor Maldonado on lap two Malaysia - sends Michael Schumacher into a spin on lap one Spain - taps Sergio Perez and punctures the Sauber driver's right rear on lap one Monaco - squeezes Schumacher into the barriers at the start, ruining his own race in the process Britain - clips Paul di Resta, puncturing the Force India driver's right rear tyre Germany - makes contact coming down to the hairpin and picks up a puncture Belgium - hits Lewis Hamilton, sparking a mass pile-up Japan - takes out Mark Webber, sending the Red Bull driver to the back of the field
  11. Nobody KNOWS for sure. But general consensus os all anti-surge housings cost you a little bit in response so if you dont expect that turbo to run into surge issues on your setup then dont use it
  12. No tyres except bald A050s, and car is broken...ditto my Sierra which I am still fixing...so no:(. All my efforts are going into Nationals and by efforts I mean money. Still, the R32 is capable of a few 0-400mtr blasts but not much more There are some not so great signs...it boiled all its coolant and burnt about 1L of oil the the other week when it split a heater hose under the inlet manifold and overheated in peak hour on a Friday night. Changed all the coolant lines/hoses but some strange things still happening which concern me. Its now just a matter of time I think
  13. FARKTARD!
  14. Cars cannot select first gear until the fuel hose is removed and prox switch confirms
  15. Nothing wrong with things made in China provided you have your own QA through the life cycle or as many do you don't actually simply let a contract manufacturer but invest in the tooling/plant which is operated under licence in China. In my eyes there is no problem with big players getting things done in China ... but there is a reason why loads of industries do their own QA on raw materials, plus loads of other practices to ensure made in China doesnt ruin their brand. Now a chinese company going it alone with a product made in China too often = rubbish. My experience is not car parts but engineering industry experiece
  16. 20th sounds good. I will have bald semis and as much boost as it will take to fix my engine
  17. When is the next Calder street meet. I want to give my car a run
  18. I am in the middle of interviews for a gig OS and looking good so just want this stuff gone
  19. Shame to see you sell it before you really got it dialled in for track work Did you ever track any of your GTRs? Were they quicker?
  20. I dot mind how the cars look. Sure they are not as great as some past, but you can instantly see the era of car...if they go an dumb the design to look like a GP2 car then I will be disappointed
  21. Not a good race when 2 of your fav 3 drivers run into each other. Another messy mistake from Romain. focussing trying to keep the Sauber on the outside and binned it into the back of Webber Webber had next to no chance but now no chance. Lets hope Webbers, Kimi and Romain can at least get a win each (ideally but any one of them will do) before the end of the year
  22. That's woeful! I take back what i said....
  23. Bugger ! Was hoping he was going to get a ream http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/103148 Webber needs a helping hand this weekend if he is going to get back in the hunt only to ultimately disappoint me again in a few races time
  24. I have seen things that have holes etc punched end up under diameter as tooling wears etc, but profiled flanges be it water cut, laser cut, plasma cut etc etc wont generally have tolerance issues. More than likely the machined adaptor is a little out. Better too much meat that you can grind back then not enough material. Std turbo http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/index.php?app=core&module=attach&section=attach&attach_rel_module=post&attach_id=50489
  25. Bugger, that is the big bad boy rear turbine. So not the smaller turbine that most people run on a 2L or people here are using on their T67 etc. From what I can see on the Kando website they only do a T25 8cm housing for that turbine. So you still need to do an adaptor for T25 to T3....then still running the biggest turbine you can run in the TD06 range. May be best to give that turbo the flick to an RB25 owner who wants punchy 260-280rwkws that hangs in there nicely in the higher rpm
