PK Jr can gag on cock...romain did a better job when he replaced him and there is no hope he could match either Lotus drier'd performances...so take your "lucky" comments and jam them

Powertune sell the 5130 for something like $1300. Its basically what I think I have decided is the go for my 2L 4cylinder...just need to do some more homework regarding internal vs external wastegate and flange connections and stack it up against the 71HTA with Cossie rear housing

2860s dont seem to do much on RB20s...if you are going 6boost high mount may as well ring its neck with a 3071 or similar...and stay with std cams for a while before trying aftermarket. I am making just over 300rwks on std cams and E85

20Gs make power at 19psi...Precision turbos seem to like over 24psi so if you don't have s built engine?!?!

Phillip Island Sprints 1St & 2Nd Sept With Piarc
Roy replied to billywhiz's topic in Archived Events
OH YEH! Will be getting the Sierra back on the road next week which means I can get stuck into the R32 for this weekend. Cant wait. Will be almost 12 months since I have punted the R32 at speed -
I cant find any results with this turbo. It looks about the right size for my YB Cosworth (cruiser/street car) but still thinking an FP71HTA. Do the internal gate setups work well...all the results i am googling are external setups. The R34 GTT seemed to be external for its 350rwkws so perhaps a 5130 is all i need for a grunty 280-300rwkws...happy to run up to 26psi

So any more news on places able to do Elise/Exige compliance for a reasonable cost? -
App 6 Pot Front Brake Kit - Bnr32
Roy replied to $$slowmedown's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
In Jap magazines they are placed as a premium brand but when you can get AP, Alcon, Brembo, Endless who are all specialised, well proven brake component manufacturers it begs the question why would you deviate from these premium brands? -
Interesting comparison. It appears the -5s may have its measure when you factor in they ramp a tad sooner and with E85 may be able to get the ignition wound in sooner ? Real curious to know if they drive as per the textbooks with the twins offering a little more transient response ...any torque graphs?

STIs can oversteer... why would you want an EVO?
-
I am guessing the EVO pilot would not be popular dropping it where he did! Plenty of folks taking brave pills under brakes it seems

Meh to international rules. The Japanese GT racing is different to the Europeans which is different to the Americans so what chance has a club level scene got? I think the main thing is to stay away from slicks. I would be interested to know the one lap pace difference of a slick vs semi....as loads of the slicks out there are for controlled series and doubt they are that brilliant a tyre

My opinion is Revolution RX7 no more Mazda then Nemo is Misubishi. Main difference is Revolution chose proven GT300 aero and Nemo chose custom design aero

If you think back there are always going to be the cars to push the definition of tuning. Thing back to the CT230R. What was that, 4-5 years ago of carbon, widebody stroked carbon goodness. Then you had ex- GT300 based car against tune cars...now an Australian team has gone bonkers and pushed the boundary. The Tilton car is bonkers fast and more in line with what people commonly accept. But if HKS want to use the tag of building ultimate time attack car then they have to accept that others can out develop-engineer-spend them

One thing people are forgetting or not considering is that whilst the Freddy manifolds are cast these Plazmaman knock offs are welded and it pays to be prepared to take the thing off at one point and weld up splits. You hear of cheap welded alloy manifolds splitting and it's my guess that it is going to be worse these days with E85 and people throwing more boost at their cars

Plazmaman told me that the std throttle body is fine for my power (TD06-20G). They said a throttle body would help improve performance further but they understood why I had reservations about spending more dollars given the results I was getting. Plazmaman were great to chat to...they returned calls promptly and were helpful with things I need to check but I am about 90% sure they arent issues as I had already checked them all as part of the original install. BUT, I will be trying it once I get my other car back on the road. Give it a nudge, will be interesting to see what results you get. I am making over 300rwkws now out of my RB20 so if there is something that will help make it it a little easier with less then 23psi etc then I am willing to give it a try. I still have Poncams laying around which are getting trialled after my next track day ...oh and for what its worth part of the reason I keep my engine pretty basic is that I happen to know a guy with a Gibson R31 GTS-R and its real interesting to hear all the things they tried and ended up with to end up with the 420hp odd that they raced with and likewise my tuner is a fan of a lot of std gear on the engine for a responsive street/track engine combination

Ferrari have hired the head of Bridgestones F1 tyre development. He has been with Ferrari since December now working full time with a team on understanding how the tyres will work. Sauber, Ferrari even Williams understood the tyres better than the others. RBR took a while to catch up, Lotus seem to have it backwards to the other teams with their car quicker on tyres other struggle to turn on and vice versa. I think its overly simplistic to say they all worked out the tyres at the same time. Look at McLaren, they are still struggling after a good start to the season and cant find the consistency they need. Not saying there isnt a chance you are right about the tyres....but I just dont see it. Go back and consider the nature of the race weekends and the compounds used for the weekends where majority struggled vs good weekends and you will see the compounds are not the same

That thing is bonkers fast. Also highlights just how much more track is available to use with all the concrete run off added to several corners

Aussie Delivered R32 Gtr's
Roy replied to BoyWhoCriedWolf's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
Long shot and I know this isn't a For Sale thread but I have a Koyo replacement radiator for an R32 GTR so looks original equipment only better for anyone looking to keep their Aus delivered R32 looking std and original -
The compounds are fixed for a season and you would have heard something from the teams if the compounds had changed. More likely everyone is driving around way off the pace conserving them and they are simply starting to understand how to set up the cars and get life out of the tyres. A few races ago RBR came out with a new rear end with different upper arm geometry to help tyre life. Others are no doubt doing something similar

And we will be talking about it for 4 weeks as there is nothing else to do for the summer break...except cry that this is the best time to be touring around Europe and how awesome it would be to go to Spa.

If you go back and look at the race footage those two laps had traffic. Look what happened to Alonso's pace when he hit the traffic that had held up Webber those fractions you are referring to. Anyway, its not the point. The tyres were fine and they admitted as much post race. It was a mistake of RBR to pit, they thought the tyres were going to go off like in the past and they got it wrong.
