So Will Sau Folk Still Refuse To Watch V8 Supercars
Roy replied to Roy's topic in Motorsport Discussion & Builds
Actually the worst thing about Nissan coming back to local tin top racing is having to read a whole new wave of muppet posts about how the GTR was banned -
On E85 with the billet gold the same EVO 8 makes 335rwkws

Claim is both runs at same boost, only difference is turbo

The lack of technical development and speed is a downer. But if they change up the rules every two years then you can see the spend increasing. Despite the series being pretty healthy, a lot of the teams still seem to fly pretty close to the "doors about to close" threshold. Developing a car to its nth degree within controlled regs to be the fastest is far more technical than developing a car within loose regs on the best platform. They are tin tops, if you want the latest tech then need to look at GT1 and open wheelers. Not sure you are ever really going to get massive amounts of development in a tin top series based on models that only get mild face lifts every 4 or so years. I am not sure I agree, but I can see why the limit it, can be a massive spend for no real gain for the series as a whole. I would love to see the V8 Superstar cars and our rules be closer. That way our teams can go and do a few rounds over there and their top teams can come for our major races. Would be cool to see Mercs, BMWs, Maseratis etc up against our boys. But their cars are a lot slower then ours Streamline the regs and as well as every country having their domestic series then you can go up against one another at places like Bathurst, Spa, Monza, Abu Dhabi etc -
Price to be $600, ie less than cost of my engine

I Have Always Wanted To Build An Ultima Or Caterham
Roy replied to Roy's topic in Motorsport Discussion & Builds
That Corvette is pretty cool. I love Vettes, but know them well enough to know many are garbage. From memory the 84 Vette has 185hp And being the first of C4s they are pretty rubbish. 89 - 94 is what I would be after. But the biggest problem is housing prices in Aus, I cant afford a house for the toys Hence the plan to get to Europe with work, get the dream car. Import dream car and then when in 4-5 years when I am around 40 build a Caterham with S2000 running gear or Ultima, depending on cash, and what my 22yr old Russian bride prefers -

I saw the other night that only just over 1million cars were sold in Aus last year. Holden sold 40,000 Commodores last year. In Japan the last few years have been lean for them due to a number of reasons yet have still domestically sold 4.5million cars. Thats not including cars they export. So looking purely at domestic markets, the Japanese market is 4.5 times bigger then Australia. Then you have export markets. So they can design cars with far bigger budgets vs local companies. So all things considered I think Holden and Ford do a great job. Hell GM now use the Holden designed chassis as a global platform for the rwd cars Also, when you see the likes of Clarkson and Hammond driving the HSVs and raving about how fun they are, it amuses me when import owners still look at the local product as pieces of rubbish. They have a place. I know if I had kids and needed a 4dr I would be punting around in an Gen Commodore with some pipes on it The fact that we even have a domestic race series is a good thing. Looking OS plenty of countries have hopeless series. The series generally appeals to people who want to see the country's best race teams and drivers race. The series appeals to the average punter as its what their company car is....and its giggles to see what hot rodding mass produce shopping trollies can produce Even if the management of our series leaves the sport generally poorer -
Why would Nissan run an AMG V8?

So I am trying the FP Green 73HTA compressor on my TD06L2 turbine and 8cm housing. Who is going to give their TD06L2 to ATP in Melbourne for one of their billet wheel upgrades? I am waiting for a reply to my email at the moment. Real keen to see which of all these turbos makes the numbers or whether all their claims are hype. Here is the claimed difference between their billet 20G wheel replacement (anodised Gold) and the std 20G compressor. The above is on an EVO so you could almost add 30-40rwkws for an indication of what it would make on a Skyline The claim that they also make 30kws more then the FB Green compressor which is a little alarming since that is what I have The wheel looks as close to identical to the BBK billet compressors only gold vs blue.

Ultima is genuinely on my one day list of things. I have the bucket R32 fun club car. Now have the Sierra Cosworth to break down on me and leave me stranded in places. Now I just need a big house/garage to move on to one more project before the Ultima. That is getting a gig in Europe and bringing back the uber personal import -

Wish my predictions were always that good. I guessed it would be either Kelly Racing or Rogers Motorsport to go the Nissan route. So Kelly is the first on board. I still think Rogers could jump ship too giving Nissan the two teams they will most likely be looking to support -
Just give her a good service. Dump the fuel and get some ULP in there to wash through all the lines. I would drop the tank and clean it out. Put 10L of ulp in there, diconnect the igniter and crank that bad boy and get some fuel flushed through the pumps and lines. You could always blow compressed air through the lines...perhaps people with experience with old E85 in the tank can tell you just how critical it is. But suspect as long as you give it all a good fluch with ULP then dump it as well. From there, just a good service, Check gearbox fluids, PS fluid, brkae and clutch fluid. AFM is clean., new plugs etc. A wheel alignment and check the brake calipers have not seized. Nothing major, just things to check

Because the Skyline has no local market relevance for Nissan.

I am told Lily Tenue is Belgian. If you have seen the Discoplis film clip you would tend to look on Belgian girls rather favorably But back to motorsport pics... Anf 2011 F1

What is wrong with being Falcodores? GT1 cars are just spaceframes with panels. To a lesser extent the same with GT2 and even GT3. Get to GT4 and they are semi production cars. Nobody rights off GT500 cars as being sports sedans. I dont get why people right off them as being Falcodores...as though any race car has to be 100% based on a production chassis car. I agree that the people running around thinking their SS is a V8 Supercar is a worry, but at the end of the day that association is what is most appealing to many of the manufacturers. I havent read the COTF regs since early last year. The talk of Mercedes being interested seemed to be torpedoed by their desire to use a production engine rather then an badged control engine. That and they didnt want to have develop to much aero (spend $$$$) I hope they allow some freedom with engines. At the end of the day they engines that Ford run with are not that relevant to Ford these days, nor is the Chev so will have to move on sooner or later -
Even then, if it wins it will be as a rwd V8 Not a AWD TT V6

Havent you been reading Marlin. I have a new turbo and suspension setup. When I do mods it normally means the car is slower than last time out (err yeh 34s...but the above still applies so would be happy if its at least as quick as it used to be) -

Sure did...all part of the plan to get into the 44s at Winton. Driver has to lose 25kgs -
Last time I was paying attention the COTF regs meant it had to be a 4 dr, rwd and V8. Because its now a silhouette series any manufacturer can come along and grab a chassis and put its panels on and be up and running for very low associated costs. So unless Nissan plan on importing some of their UA/Japanese V8 4drs the Nissan they will be running here will be a hotted up Maxima, with its V6 and FWD drive thrown in a bin...which isnt even remotely related to its road goign cousin. But who cares, the series like many touring car series isnt about production car racing...its a platform for a race series that at least look like cars some people drive day to day and manufacturer have in show rooms. The fact that they are all pretty close to being spaceframes with control suspension, gearbox engines etc doesnt bother me at all. it will be about the best race team and drivers more then the best manufacturer

Be interesting if you would say the same thing if you watched the whole race flag to flag? It is good racing and the stewards allow them to play up a little. Being fwd (well most) you can get into the sides of one another without always spinning the other guy around. Also they have no power so slip stream and punting is rife. BUT, the coverage is always great because they edit the footage and the coverage is never live. When you are able to put a reel of coverage together then it is always easier to make what was a 35 min race look like an action packed 15min race And Jr Moffat, DJ etc can all get stuffed. They dont have the talent to have their seats!!!! People, including myself don't like Rick Kelly, but he gained hugely from sharing the other seat with Murphy and he got his head round the cars and is quick. It is motorsport so unless your Dad is a an exCAMS official, Ex driver, circuit owner or just vastly wealthy then you don't get the chance to throw your hat in the ring. -
Would have to be a Maxima wouldn't it? There is nothing else in their domestic line up that makes much sense.

I like the vids. The car looks pretty sorted and has some good poke. The final left hander and sections of the pit straight look like ep[ic fun with steering the car on the throttle and having to brake with some steering attitude on the car! Love that sort of stuff ! Years ago we organised some Tas track days and pulled the pin due to NSW being cheaper/easier. Now that I am back in Aus for good need to start the annual Vic Motorsport trips back up -

People that complain about the quality of the V8 Supercars racing need to actually watch a GT500/GT300 race. They are boring as bat shit with cars very rarely actually racing. As a motorsport fan still great to watch due to the variety of cars, but its hardly good , close racing.
