Odds are the DS2500s work from cold and the PMUs need to be over 300deg C before they are in their operating range. So the DS2500s are offering a higher co-efficient of friction from cold when the fronts are still thinking about getting up to temp. If you still have the DS2500s that the car came with slap them back in and see of the problem goes away. If it does than thats the issue. Has anyone ran a Pagid RS4-2 with their Alcons. On paper they are a tad better than DS2500s....they are the next pad I am trying

Are you at the Augu-Winton day John....Need to side swipe you to slow you down

If someone comes across an R31 GTS-R manifold in good condition or a HKS manidfold then let me know. I am keen to run one of these bad boys but need to get rid of my Trust based manifold. Part of the reason why I went 73HTA was that I could run it on my TD06 based turbo
-
Is there any truth to the fact that the HKS turbos use a steel bearing race vs the Garrets using plastic?

LOL...Who knows. When I asked those questiosn about your setup inc tyre type and condition front to rear...I assumed you were running the same pad! So is it squirmy always. On cold stops, Only after hard stops? Generally if you are buying a properly engineered front and rear kit for a car you run the same pads front to rear. Rule being its all about temps and pads generally all behave differently. The rear rotors are generally smaller in diameter and thickness because they need less cooling. Whilst the rears will always run cooler than the fronts, they will run in the operating window of the pad temp range and offer the bite, consistency of the front pad ad generally the same co-efficient of friction. Mixing that range and friction co-effecients could contribute to a bot of instability in the brakes. Running a DS2500 that offers the same friction coeffient cold as the PMU Club racers when they get up to temp at 300deg ...on paper I am guessing when you get the fronts well up to temp the instability may improve My old brake setup could only run rather dull pads in the rear. If I ran the same compound as the front it was a handful. Now with my current setup I am able to run the same compound all round and the car is happy

I am pumped. Dan has been called up to test the RBR at Silverstone. Lets hope he can seal the deal and we see another Aussie in a top seat next year Joe Saward seems to think its the wrong choice fro RBR and they should be looking at JEV. Also interesting to see Coughlan has left Wiliams and Pat Symonds has signed up. SO many changes cant be good for Williams but hopefully Symonds can convince Maldanado to bin it and get Bottas in a good spot after a safety car

Oh HELL YES https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L9wEVHQHUlI

There are worse tragedies than Petrov getting a seat at Sauber! Be good to see him get back into F1 as any guy that can defend against Alonso for lap after lap over several GPs is a good driver....and anyone that can outpace/keep pace with Heikki isnt a hack...not to mention that back end of the season he wasnt too bad against Kubica Lets hope it kicks off and that hack Mexican runs off to Indycar or Nascar

This car is a credit to you and those that help by throwing spanners and time at it with you! Its proof that its all about seat time....car mods lose out to seat time everytime.

JEZUZ TITTY FARK! THAT THING LOOKS AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!

LOL, not quite the truth but close. But it stems from the fact that next to nobody plays with a non-ABS rwd car. So what works for others doesnt work for me. THe DS2500s are pretty average pad, agree....but for a non ABS car then pads that are progressive without a load of bite can be easier to modulate. If you have ABS then anchors ahoy and bitey pads are quite nice...but even the ABS crew will notice that with the bitey pads that the ABS kicks in. Then you hear people complaining that the ABS is too sensitive and kicks in too early

Isnt there a long thread on Ross balancers being...ummm...err...not that great?
-
So they dont plan on winning anything or being good. Just sound goo. V-Tec YO! ) Truth is the Japanese Engineers want to be working in the UK because of the amount of Romanian and Russian strippers they have in their "gentemens clubs".

Re Hulk. Itd funny that Williams have acrually bloofed the two most impressuve rookies of late. Hulk and Bottas both need a strong seat. Di Resta is in the wings and driving well too. Surely Massa doesnt stand a chance with so many drivers that look solid in their current drives and have loads of potential in a better car
-
You people worry me! Running out of brakes on the road when running 365mm rotord with DS2500s !
-
My other prediction is whilst everyone is talking Lotus and RBR...the real issue will be Ferrari. Massa has had his chance and is throwing the car away more than Romain. The team cant have a guy throwing away so many points when they want to win the WCC. Hulk is a shoe in and would fit in well and if a performer can easily get a good 4-5 years out of him, a good carry over for when Alonso steps aside and the likes of Vettel or whichever young gun arrives in the next 3 years
-
So, Vettel is easily quite capable of winning any WDC given a car capable. Kimi too. Two gun drivers would take points off each other as much as other drivers. Good for the WCC but not good at bagging the WDC as well. Kimi is only 3 years younger than Webber. So assuming he signs a 2 year contract with option of 1 yr extension....he would likely retire after RBR stint. So with Vettel under cotnract to end of 2015...do you put yourself in a position where you risk one driver retiring and the other chasing a change and new challenge after 7 years with the one team? all within 12 months or at the same time? On the face of things it looks an easy decision to take on Kimi...fast, popular and wont upset the team with politics...just drive and drive fast. But frankly they are not strugfgling to win WDC or WCC with Seb in the car. Dan and Vergne both look capable of consistant and solid points finishes. Dan looks the better option simply because of his quali advantage and the fact that of the two Vergne has thrown the car away in crashes far more often that Dan. So when I mull over it I think the question is does Dan have enough speed to push Vettel and get a strong haul of points? I think the answer is yes. Dose he have the turn of speed of either Kimi or Vettel...well he was DAMN fast in the RBR in testing. They have the data and know. Every week that passes i think Dan makes sense for RBR...and is a better long term option and gives them the chance to put de Costa ion the STR for next year to push Jev along. They get a year to look at Dan alongside vettel to understand if they have a good pilot for another 4 or so years. I think back to how they didnt rate Bourdais at all but obviously fell in love with Vettel. On the track the DNFs, and marginal differences in speed meant that to me there didnt appear to be worlds between them. There obviously was. I remember back to that when trying to understand is Dan doing enough against Jev...and with the cars development coming along nicely with James Key...ou get the feeling that STR will be racing FI and McLarens for the rest of the year so both dreivers have better equipment than Buemi and Jaimie to show their ability The flip side is Kimi...Lotus make his life easy...he drives and thats it. RBR may be able to accomodate a load less PR for him...but it will be more work at RBR than Lotus.

Some valve springs and a small bump in cam duration to around 260 and get lift up there at 10.25mm whilst its apart. If you want life in the 9,000rpm range I think that would suffice considering basic rebuilt RB26s with a set of pistons are good to 8,500rpm, With your bottom end, the trick will be underdriving the water pump and power steering and making sure the oil temp and flow is well controlled. If you wanted to spin to 10,000rpm and make big power than I think it gets a lot more expensive. Lighter valves and lifters, springs etc etc all to try make life easier at those revs and cylinder pressures. But for years people put 2530s on RB26s and spun them to 8,500-9,000rpm with no issue. But there is a decent step in speeds and loads from 9,000rpm to 9,500rpm. So a 10cm housing with a 50mm gate on a TD06H-25G would on good fuel be a good 350-380rwkws setup. If you do a search for BU5TER, Brett was one of the early day Trust lovers and his RB25 sang to well into the 8,500rpm range on a std bottom end and make 340rwkws odd for its low 11sec passes. I think you are on the right track with the same turbo as he used in teh TD06H-25G
-
Or just put the 25G on an RB20 with solid lifter conversion and some springs and 260/10.25mm cams on a properly balanced bottom end. Will bag 350rwkws on E85 quite comfortably and because of the stroke and smaller, lighter pistons will pull those revs without anything near the piston speeds and big end loads of the larger RB engines
-
Twin TD06-25G will pull to 9,500rm EASILY
-
I think its purely the French connection...but cant really see it. Lotus could get Hulk or DiResta or Bottas if they liked...all seem to be a better bet than JEV at the moment. How car you back a guy that has been outqualified something like 21-8 and has been out done for points scoring finishes. He is like Heidfeld and a clever racer which is why he came out on top in points last year and currently sits ahead Dan this year,,,,but the perfrmances do not reflect the scorecard nd think he needs a very strong second half of the season if he is to be on anybodies radar for next year
-
My boy Romain will be around for a while yet. Its not hurting to have a French drive at Lotus and if they can manage his head space than he can grown into something very special. But he doesnt seem to have enough asshole, arrogant everyone is wrong except me self belief that most have to keep on keeping on
-
So my 2c is Hulk will be at Ferrari next year. Massa gone ... Sauber struggling and perhaps picking up a few dollars and Kobi back after a year out.

Webber shoudl have bashed wheels with Vettel. Hang in and see if he could have stuffed up the inside for the left hander
