LOL, that's is a thrown comparison as I go through Eau Rouge faster than those suposed GT cars
-
I don't think it will upset many at all.

Nobody mentioning that Gary Rogers will be running two Volvos next year? Good to see the series kicking a few goals re manfacturers. Next test will be to get some satellite series going and then have a 4 World Championship rounds. Spa, Bathurst, a US circuit and Silverstone or something

I dont think you give them enough credit . Sure they have Mac gearbox etc but aero and suspension is all FI. They are doing an amazing job!

Pads And Rotors After Track Day
Roy replied to jonathon's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
RB74s in my pad shape are dirt cheap. Something like $140. I have plenty of rotor and cooling so luckily able to get away with cheap pads. Am going to give RS4-2s a go next. And yes,..I carry a fair whack of brake up to the Apex. I set my car up so its a bit dosey in turning as it is easier to wrestle the car to the apex and have good power down then a nice front end that the read doesnt want to follow and blases tyres on exit. Maybe a more switched on person could set the car up better but meh...it is what it is -
Massa really needs to continue to trip on his d1ck though for Webber to even get clsoe to having a look at Ferrari. Massa has been doing a pretty good job for the past 12 months

So While The Head Is Off My R32 Rb20Det...
Roy replied to BobbysCustoms's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
If you speak to the likes of Toshi etc then that may help you out with the direction you should take some tight tweaks as I believe he has a few stc chipped plug and play tunes for people that are running 2530s, RB25 turbos with std fuel injectors and afm etc. If you can get one of his chips that suit std injectos, afm and fuel reg...just with a nice fresh fuel pump pumping away ensuring sufficient flow. You could end up with a nice 180-190rwkws car for rather cheap (~$300 for one of his chipped ecus?) -
I personally think Kimi would have trouble with Vettels ability to qualify...but race pace and craft would be to Kimi. I think Vettel is more likely to get ruffled than Kimi. Didnt hear a peep from Kimi when Massa was in the hunt in 2008-2009. My god just realised Kimi won the WDC in 2007...so long ago!

If nothing else it will be interesting to see anotehr driver alongside Vettel. The Lewis-Rosberg has been interesting and will be good to see if someone can put Vettel into the shade or be destroyed by him. Fact is mush like Benetton-Renault in the Alonso days no team mate is going to really have a chance along Vettel at RBR. But if its the best car on the grid it is their best chance of getting a few GP wins. I read a recount of the 2010 WDC a few weeks back and said it was laughable that Webber wasnt backed for the WDC since it woudl have been RBRs first. It did hurth to read a seasoned F1 journo talk like that

I know what I would do if my car was a dedicate track car and not a club car It would be awesome

R33 Hub And Brakes For R32
Roy replied to Humpty Dumpty's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Bearings are $240 new plus install. Just doing it now myself -
Quali 20-7. Disco Dan shoudl have beaten Jev in teh WDC last year but for two mech failures at the end of races in points scoring positions. Jev crashed when in points scoring positions, caused a few big crashes etc. First year in F1 so excusable and no real blame deserved when put in context of gorwing pains. STD have commented that Dan never spins, crashes or crashes and always looks in complete control. JA is expecting that the upcoming GPs will favour Dans style as i read theyir driving styles are very different and Dan should outperform Jev on circuits that require ability to get the most out of the balance of the car in high speed stuff.

So will be real interesting now that Vettel is confirmed. Webber off contract, Kimi off contract and two young punks at STR killing to give it a go. I think that with Mercedes looming large as a threat for coming years with easily the strongest pairing in F1...RBR have to be looking at Kimi. He doesnt ruffle feathers. Is fast and versatile and conistant. Kimi and Zetool would be a better combination then any other team on the grid. So if Webber wants to continue then it is easy to see either Kimi's seat or Romain's seat being offered to him at Lotus. Whether he is up to it or willing to give it a nudge now they have lost one of the top 3 engineers in the sport remains to be seen. If Kimi doesnt spring for the seat and the assumption that Webber is GONESKI, then who woudl you take ...Dan or Jev? I think Jev is looking as though there is room for the guy to improve where as Dan already looks the more conistant of the two. He has destroyed him something like 20-7 in quali so if you have thefastest car on the grid in the RBR then they woudl surely be looking for a guy that can quali well and have good race pace. The apst two GPS have been very good for Jev and bad for Dan....i cross my fingers but I think a pesky Frenchman may get in the way of Dans dream

Pads And Rotors After Track Day
Roy replied to jonathon's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
LOL, i bet you have ABS I cant drive with bitey pads like some Hawks and Endless CCR. I just forever lock up and flat spot tyres Lap 1 Lap 2 Lap 3 Lap 4 = SQUARE TYRES and reverting back to RB74 sporty street pads -
Give the guy a chance to learn from his mistake....up to officials to report him and note on his licence. Not sure we have enough info to lynch the guy But if you supply the beers then i can hunt around for some tar and feathers
-
Not the organisers fault as they can only do so much. But hope that the guys really bust balls at the next driver briefing as I have always loved attending their well run days. If people think because they are faster than me I don't deserve to be on the same track as them despite having paid the same entry fee....and they are not told to pull their head in by clerk of course then I will soon voice my concerns and go home as well
-
And I am a complete liability which is why I always try to find my own space to go crazy on. Traffic management is a very hard thing to learn. I only ever started to think to understand how much of a science it was when I drove a car with no hp and good handling. You can drive close to your best lap times even with traffic if you learn to read their pace and be a little analytical with where you catch them. An ealy lift and brake early so not to crowd each other under brakes so you can get your usual corner speed and exit will likely lose you less then a second. Its hard to do but fun learning how to do. Avoids accidents and a useful tool if you do want too race and need to be able to lap slower cars without losing time over the duration of the race

Thats wrong. It is not a race meet. It is a club sprint. Contact is unforgivable and overtaking should only be on the straights or when indicated by the front car. Of course nobody meant that to happen but you have to accept your mistake and make sure as sh1t it never happens again. Looking at a FB link and discussion, if these vids are all the same driver....The guy needs to seriously look at how aggressive he is. You can forgive one mishap bt he is a serial offender! If someone knows this guy sit him down and tell him its not his track and it is not a race. He is not a race car driver. Its a club sprint and each other car needs to be given loads of space. Even if he has a full PC licence it means nothing, these are not race meets http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SwcNSg2PWTQ I hope the OP reads this and accepts his attitude needs to change. Even if they are all different drivers they are all guilty of the same thing. Contact is not excusable and you need to give everyone enough room and only pass on the straights.

The revs and road speed dont quite match my run on a Mainline dyno with std diff and 235/40/17" RE55 semis. My road speed and revs match up prety well according do the AiM dash so I suspect your car may actually be a little more responsive as I suspect the revs are calculated from road speed? so perhaps a tad wrong with the rpm? I dont know how the Mainline dynos work out rpm. Did Jem seem to think cam gears are a good option? I would be doing that years before I think about putting a FFP on a car
-
Bugger. Never nice to see an accident at a track day. Main thing is nobody was hurt. If I was the guy in the silver EVO that got clouted in the door I would be very annoyed as I dont think that car had any place diving up the inside.
-
Looks pretty grunty Kane. Looks like a good alternative to a 2530 with making better grunt. A few things...I am guessing you are running 18" wheels? Is it an 8cm or 10cm housing? Also do you have cam gears and if so what are they set at?

Both those graphs are my 20G. I dont have results for my 18G. I gave it to a friend who is going to run it on his SR20 Cortina The Plazmaman plenum is actually laggier than std but the curve doesnt nose over at the top. For me I wouldnt put a plenum on an RB20. You lose torque and the only way they end up faster is if you absolutely flog the guts out of them with revs. I used to use 8,800 in 1st, 2nd and 3rd gears and about 8,000 in 4th gear. If you care about the life of your engine I am not sure that is a good recipe for a std engine with std oil punp etc etc and 23psi
-
Thats a great result. I bought a TD05-18G but struck engine problems before I could get to test it back to back with the 20G. I was able to make 275rwkws om 100RON. Below is my Unite 100 tune with the Plazmaman vs the std plenum. Be interesting to see how it goes against your graph to see how much more punchy the 18G is

Ok, you need fluids and a good general service where they look at the condition of your fuel lilnes, brake lilnes, cooler pipes, location of loom next to any mods to exhaust dumps etc. Check thed condition of your coolant hoses etc. Condition of rod ends, suspension bushes etc etc. Life of brake pads etc? All that up assuming your car is fine should probably be around $500. Tyres? Anything used so that it doesnt have full tread blocks to walk around on and strip/throw around the circuit. Thats it. Just get out there and start enjoying it. Even good drivers go out there and are miles off what the car can do and having tyres which dont cost the earth without loads of grip help you feel the car under you and be smooth...and mos importantly do lap after lap
