I have tried a ~ 0.63 housing and a 0.86 housing on the same turbo and same engine. Made the same peak power but moved the curve a long way with far poorer response with the bigger housing. So if you are running E85 then go the smaller housing. If you are running pump the tune wont seem to handle the back pressure as well. If its a track car that is going to see sustained high revs and load then perhaps make sure you are not giving it a gob whack of boost when at the track like you can on the street. I am now running a T67 with a 10cm (~0.74) housing but once a few things are fixed on my car will be gong back to the 8cm housing (~0.63) Thats on a 2.5L 6cyl

Be interesting to know if Massa will be ok for Canada. His crashes were very strange and from what I have read none are the result of car failure Be good to see Kobi come in as a super sub but reality is it will make more sense for Pedro to come back . He did the Pirelli test earlier in the eyar, knows the team and simulator etc. Big picture makes more sense then putting a guy who doesnt know the team, the car or the tyres and team workings in for a GP or two.

Shame I missed it Dan. With moving house, fixing broken cars and being drunk too often I didnt get to enter the Touring. They are some great roads with plenty of runs. Shame they are still struggling to get numbers

He needed to though. Its a long season and if there is a guy only out for fame from a move or a single race then it can hurt his championship. Perez likes some of the rough stuff which is fine with me. But there is rough stuff and dangerous stuff. I dont know what is worse, Perez doing it as a strategy or Romain doing it being absent minded Anyway, Kimi has at least given Perez something to think about next time Perez thinks he can muscle Kimi. They say they chose Perez because he is good and has potential to be even better. Kobi had shown what he was capable of and there wasnt any potential left. As it stands seeing them in the same car for two seasons and Perez in a McLaren alongside Button for a season I think Perez may be at 95% rather than the 65% that McLaren had hoped and on merit Kobi is ultimately the better driver. Suppose McLaren will be on the lookout for Kimi as well as Red Bull and Lotus I will add that I was reading that Bernie is trying to sweet talk Renault in again taking a steak in Lotus as it looks like Williams are going to Mercedes for next year. Bernie telling Renault they get far more exposure at a race meet with corporate facilities etc rather than Lotus being Lotus and RBR being Infiniti RBR. Lotus Renault does sound good but seems rather far fetched though having plausible foundations

Kimi absolutely squeezed him. He was never going to get it done on that lap from where he was trying. Kimi did increase the likelihood of contact but Kimi needed to do something otherwise he was just going to launch silly attack after silly attack until they ended up in a proper crash or just a comedy of being forced off the track. So I think Kimi tried to pull his chain by waltzing up to the apex. Not the racing line but is free to take the corner as shallow as he wants as the car with track position. I rate Perez for having a go but it was LOOOSE...and I personally think he is driving like he has nothing left to give and is desperate to try and get a turn of speed. Strange as early on he was nowhere which is to be expected in new car and team but now is driving like he wants to go into the wall again and miss Canada for a second time

Perez was taking the pi55...so far back and just lunging at the apex. How many times did he have to take to the run off, let alone force the other guy wide? Romain pork chopped it again last night? But at least he was close enough to Dan to take alunge as he was right there....just messed it up. Perez was just sailing up the inside knowing others woudl jump out of the way rather than be punted. He had several goes at Kimi so good on Kimi for cruising up to the apex

Fasest Hamo went thisweekend was in his road car

The only limit on the new engines is basically fuel. They are only allowed to carry a certain amount of fuel and it means they will have to be pretty conservative with boost and power if they want to make it to the end of the race. Hopefully they will hot them up to serious power then turn them down for economy but at points of the race lean on it for more power and speed...strategies will be interesting

If you want a good harness then Sabelt or Schroth are the industry standards. Many of the Sparco harnesses etc are actually Sabelt. Have a look at the adjusters, some are nightmares...generally the alloy being more expensive function better. That said as long as you know what you want...3", alloy or steel adjusters....saloon style, 4/5/6 point and you are not worried about brand then OMP, Sparco, Willans, Racetech, Velow, Takata, RPM...just shop around and get the best buy. Also, when looking at ebay and cheap harnesses...often the cheap ones are 2 or so years into their validity period.

Basic Roll Cage Options And Saftey

There are different schools of thoughts. I wanted mine between the the rear legs. WRC cars and other race cars have gone full circle. First short, then long and they generally seem to be short again these days. The reasoning I use is that in a big hit you can generate some massive Gs. If the harness is short then there is no slack and your organs/body cop the Gs. If they are long like mine then the belts can actually stretch a few cms which gives an elastic style response and in tests has been shown to reduce the amount of Gs the body absorbs. Of course the flip side is with longer harnesses in a big hit that distorts the car you can more easily see a situation where the cage moves relative to the seat and harnesses slacken and you are on for an interesting ride. Swings and round abouts -
If you are entertaining the idea of 5/6 point then have a good look at your seat. I think for skinny guys a 4 point harness with the side straps mounted at the correct angle work fine for 99% of people. If you ever want to upgrade then you can get a crotch strap then as most 4 point harnesses can be upgraded with a crotch strap at a later date. That way you also avoid the issue Snowie pointed out re the buckle being on the waisst strap
