  1. mine copped another wash and some wheel cleaner at last, i hate brake dust and i'm one small step closer to some more mods
  2. cool guys carpark is here Car Park meeting up around 2 pm
  3. Just checked the weather and it looks like another nice day tmrw so who is keen for meeting up for a chat in the arvo? i'm thinking at the uni (same place the cruise will start) cos its out of the way, and not shady so it should be warm i'm thinking 2ish till whenever (maybe 3 or 4) let me know if you'd be keen on coming and getting the car scene up and going again
  4. hey guys been noticing a bit of a noise thats deff coming from the head area on my stagea (rb25 neo) not sure if its normal or from the solid lifters i used to have a 32 and never noticed it but it was a lot louder so i may not have been able to hear it its not a ticking or anything horrible, just sounds like slightly sloppy lifters (light whirring noise really, and only with no load on the motor) Does this sound normal? i've never owned anything with solid lifters before it was also recently serviced with 10w40 (GW sougi s6000, but had the same noise before) Tell me what you think, Tom
  5. no worries mate, trying to cater for all here and keep things safe apparently the sideling tends not to see much sun in winter and gets pretty slippery be good to see you guys at the start tho
  6. Seeing as i can't edit my post (wtf sau?) The cruise will meet up saturday morning (time to be confirmed) at the Launceston UTAS lower car park (between the 2 roundabouts on the straight road) Destination is Beauty point vial this route: The Route we're aiming to get there for about 11 as we've got the wharf booked for 11-12 for photos and chatting then we will return bring a walkie talkie if you have one, its not really necessary but handy to have See you all there
  7. sure are welcome mate will be the morning of the 26th of june exact time to be confirmed yet meeting at the lower uni car park (in the middle of the straight road between the two roundabouts)
  8. you can probably run higher pressures now due to and advance in technology and materials too
  9. oh, i only had one drivers side, gives you much more spread without it
  10. I'd love to come guys but i wont be back in qld with my car till november
  11. it only takes them a few days, im sure if you ask them and say that you need it asap they could have it done in less (i.e. tell you when there is only 1 highflow in front of yours so you can then pull it off) or scour the forums for a blown r34 turbo (r34 has a bigger rear housing and flows that little bit more than an r33 one)
  12. i did that a few weeks ago, did you take out the metal bulb cover from the drivers side one? it even unscrewed, no need to smash anything unlike what i'd heard
  13. check out the "goods on oils" thread in the general maintenance section also Gulf western make an oil that is on par with the Motul 300V but costs around $60 from a wholesaler i bought some from their recommendations and its pretty good stuff (rb25 tho) its a proper group 5 ester synthetic which is the same as the 300v, redline and royal purple things like nulon and castrol full syn are only group 3 which is barely synthetic at all
  14. the east coast one will be a great drive but i think we should save it for when the weather heats up a bit there is a lack of sun at the best of times so we'd have to keep pushing on and moving forwards i think its better to do a few smaller cruises than one massive one
  15. everyone over on boost is keen for the short easy cruise this is not going to be the only cruise this year i'll organise another one as we come back into some warmth (maybe even a ski trip for those who are keen) i'm happy with going to beauty point, meeting up and getting to know everyone and just chilling we'll leave the longer, more scenic cruises to later in the year when its warmer
  16. gcg (garret) will be about $1500 which takes you into aftermarket turbo territory or hypergear will do highflows for about $900 both are good for about 20psi, gcg will use a ball bearing core which gives you a tiny bit more response
  17. Ok guys looks like we're just gonna do a gentle meet up and cruise to beauty point CLICK ME i know its not the most exciting drive but it'll be good to get out and meet up thoughts?
  18. can you please come and replace my lecturer, we call him the story teller because all he does it read the book to the class coupled to the fact that he is indian (not being racist) its hard to understand him and so basically we've had to teach ourselves
  19. isothermal expansion the temp stays the same (p1v1=p2v2) i dont think it really matters 195/70's i'd go with something normal 32-34 maybe its a pretty high profile tyre
  20. is that isothermal, adiabatic or polytropic expansion? haha just studying for my thermal eng. exam as we speak
  21. if you run a lot of stretch you need high pressures but i never go over 40 mine are normally 36-38 for better fuel consumption (plenty of grip with the awd) and as jetwreck said, if you want more grip on the street you would drop them down a bit, you dont really need stiff sidewalls on the street but you need more straight line grip
  22. strange that the stock one flashed when you lock/unlock i wish mine did too, maybe there is some secret sequence to get it to activate?
  23. yeah distributer after the 20 years the bearing dries up and heats the crank angle sensor up which is in the bottom of the dizzy not too complicated to do, just set the engine to tdc, pull the leads off the top, pull it out and slot it back in (remembering the orientation) i know what you mean about abs, its an excellent thing to have and no doubt it has saved many ppl's lives but i think too many ppl rely on it and dont understand what its designed to do and how it does it but for the sort of money you are thinking of spending i doubt you will get anything with abs and airbags unless its korean and if you want something safe without abs the 31 is about as solid as they come mine rolled down my driveway cos i didn't pull the handbrake on enough (its an average design and you're best to leave it in gear too) and it rolled into our house, put a small ding into the bricks but left nothing on the car i also know someone who had the same thing happen but it took out his shed, just went straight through it lol. car was fine, shed was not
  24. Bump Need these shifted, good upgrade for 32 (280mm to 296)
  25. just renewed the insurance on my 31, should have been $270 but went up to $340 cos we changed the address, still cheap tho the good thing with the 31's is that a new motor is only gonna set you back a few hundred and they don't tend to die (many stories involving motors being pulled down and the factory hone marks are still there!) would be good if it was better on fuel but i think the handbrake is dragging on ours and the diff is a bit f**ked so it would contribute to increased fuel consumption
