  1. The engine torque my old girl made stripped the material on the teeth gears (case hardening????) and killed the syncros and other little bits in there, smurfs blood worked for a while, but in the end the box was painful to use It was sent of for a full rebuild to "Award" I think 🤔, organised by UNIGROUP, for new springs, syncros, "things", gears and some internal baffling or something All was well until I hit the circuit and drags a few times when it started not wanting to shift and making a slight "whining" sound, then after a few more hits at the strip on drag radials it was whining like ten whining things Rinse and repeat, until it started to whine a little again, I then priced up the fix, better gears, syncos and things, which I couldn't really justify, I was recommended to drop the power down if I wanted the standard box to live if I didn't upgrade it all, I then proceed to dropped my showbags and sell the thing The added torque the engine puts out from running "high power" and sticky tyres is far over what the box and its internal stuff are rated for I just tried googling the torque limits for the RB boxes, but was unsuccessful, the best I could find was 600-700hpatw, so around 480-560 hpatw if you use a 20% drivetrain loss (rule of thumb) My old 25/30 ended up making 500hpatw, that's when the gearbox hated life IIRC, which isn't really likely, the GTR box is rated to 600 "ish" nm at the engine, a RB, with a good page up for boost, would easily be making over that Again, IIRC, my 25/30 was making over 800nm atw around 4500rpm Nissan did over engineer their boxes a bit, but not by that much Are there any RB's out there making 500hpatw reliability that see the track or circuit? It seems like a common reliability modification to build them with all the fancy stuff, or change the stock boxes out for a delicious or something when your making good power for circuit, or a slush box for the drags I'm triggered now with all this talk about RB gearboxs and torque ratings, I'm going to light a candle and pray to the gods of "infernal combustion" for my 4l60e and half shafts, that are dealing with more torque than they should really see Happy trails Dose
  2. The Yaris's transmission is basically rebuilt, well.... new fluid and filter anyways, and slightly overfilled, so perfect. Also order the new tyres for it today, the old ones were 7 years old and toast, so instead of just getting some fresh random cheapo's I got "cheapish" 195/60 15 RE003's on a buy 3 get the 4th free deal, get them fitted tomorrow, so basically race slicks to keep the 80 kwat....engine, in check And because I'm a idiot consumer, I got a 22mm Whiteline rear sway bar, "apparently" it helps alot with the thing wallowing around in corners and roundabouts going to the shops to get groceries I even washed it today, and by wash I mean hit it with the gernie foamer with some wash and wax in it, then pressure washed it, then wiped it over with a old T-shirt, perfect
  3. And because I'm a consumer Some "hektic" black steel wheel nuts (+10hp) If there "not-shit" I might get some for the Bogan mobile For $24 bucks delivered next week they are worth the risk
  4. Lost a hub cap on the Yaris, somewhere..... I've found that people want way to much for some used OEM alloys, even a set was mildly guttered and had old worn tyres was $500, fark that So, Facebook Marketplace "rebuild" The Yaris is basically a VL BT1 now LOL Yes, it does need new tyres, that's a job for next week Also, because "why not", some fresh trans fluid and filter for the "big block" Yaris, I'm just dropping the pan though as I couldn't be arsed flushing it properly Time for the second coat of race car silver
  5. Nah, it is perfect for what it is now More power will end up just being another car that breaks all the time and spends it's days, broken, waiting on parts, or in the workshop I'm happy to just cruise around in it with the family I'm an old bogan at heart, so cruising around Australia in a blown V8 Commodore gives me the joys Waiting for it to get fixed because I am trying to get a PB, not so much, hell, that there reminds me of the Skyline, fix it, break it, spend more money to fix it and make it faster, break it, spend more money to fix it and make it faster, break it, spend more money to fix it and make it faster, break it, totally drop my show bags and end up hating the car to the point of selling it, nope, not again I did come close to going full retard with it though, solid rear, T400, build engine, more boosters, but after having a good hard think, I gave myself a uppercut, it would just end up like the Skyline, a sometimes car that had the tendency to break I'll let you take the reigns with your build
  6. Took out the Cruise Ship for a, um...., cruise Started early, 0645, Heathcote Road, Princess Hwy, Gong, and then back along the coast and through Nasho, then down to Cronulla beach, ended up coming home via the M5 Fun little drive, apart from one group of push bikes in the Nasho, doing 30kmph in some of the uphill twisties is was "smoooooth sailing" It is all tucked up into bed now, so....stop......Yaris time
  7. The Bogan Bike is sold With my neck the way it is it was safer for me and everyone around me to stop riding, plus 90% of drivers are to busy looking at phones or not paying attention to their surroundings, I started to think it was only time before some idiot ran into me again Plus whilst I'm happy to plod around on the street in a car, I tend to revert to "full retard" on a bike, and I've had a few close calls Got a super quick sale (1 day advertised) and the money I wanted so happy there Goodbye Bogan bike, you probably won't be missed In other "tin top" news: I'm loving the Yaris as a daily hack, heaps fuel efficient as expected, and enough room for daily duties, but, I'm already thing of flipping it for something the same size, but with more mod cons, well, 1 mod con that I really like, cruise control. The daughters Kia Cerato GT is a really nice little thing, they release a new version soon, so I will wait for that to drop before I flip the Yaris As for the Bogan Cruise Ship, that basically only comes out for weekend cruising duties now, it is going as good as ever, well, as long as I don't take it to the drags again, in the end it was built for (OEM+) cruising, and it does it like a champion Long live the Bogan Cruise Ship

  9. I actually like Goulburn, it has that rural vibe, and in reality it isn't too far from anywhere, Sydney, Canberra, and the South Coast, whilst there are some local deadshits they typically stick to themselves in their own areas, unlike Sydney or Brisbane where the deadshits are everywhere The only advantage of big cities I can see is employment opportunities, but then I'm a older "gent", and have no interest in the night life scene or anything else that big cities offer, at my age I just want to spend my time in the garage cleaning cars, or in the garden growing veggies and burning meat on a BBQ, and basically annoying my family with my opinionated views of people and the world Bang for your buck, IRT property, cannot be beat in rural areas compared to what what you get for your coin in the city areas Goulburn is on my short list for when I retire in...... Not that I'm counting
  10. Word around Goulburn is that Wakefield will be reopening When? Restrictions?
  11. To me, black rims, from a distance anyway, looks like the car has had some love by a tea leaf, and is now sitting on bricks with no wheels I personally believe there needs some colour separation between a tyre and wheel I the end it is personal taste, hell, I own and love my red SS Commodore wirh gold bogan spec FR-1 rims, so there is that to take into consideration about my taste in things I do think FRP1 rims suit the R32 and R33 extremely well In the end changing the colour of rims is pretty simple if the colour you do choose doesn't end up floating your boat
  12. LOL, it was yesterday 🤣
  13. Just spoke with the Minister for War and Finances and...... I'm in Is there a link for donations?
  14. I had one of those NISMO organic twin plates in my RB25/30 making around 380 killer wasps and it was great My gearbox lasted well on street tyres as well But once I used sticky rubber at the strip the gearbox was a "consumable" item Seems to be a theme with me IRT gearbox's, and diffs, and tailshafts......
  15. Not to many wasps, to many torques and too sticky rubber mate Tone wheel is part of the half shafts on a M80
  16. Yeap, just rolling it on, it didn't brake at launch, it just gripped up and left, it broke during the 1-2 shift, although I assume the launch probably make it very unhappy and the shift into 2nd was the last straw
  17. Tone wheel fixture is unknown, I'll have a gander tomorrow 275/40 17 Mickey Thompson ET street SS, so the sidewall is firmish, basically a street tyre with really soft rubber I just roll into the loud pedal to launch mate, as I have a PD supercharger boost is basically instant off idle, so no trans brake or foot braking is required to build boost
  18. And fixed, and another box of broken parts for the steel bin at work, notice the one that didn't break has a nice twist in it down the splines
  19. So.....after pulling the diff to fix the broken half shaft, they found the Eaton truetrac has a cracked in the body #sadface Sooooo.......it is getting a new Harrop Truetrac installed The Eaton is rated to 500hpatw, I'm also making 500hpatw, so there's that, the Harrop, rated to 500kwatw has a stronger billet body, the Eaton body is cast Not sure what came first, the broken half shaft or the crack in the Eaton truetrac body, did one go first and take the other with it? I'll ask more later when the car is ready to pick up, maybe no one knows, maybe it was aliens, maybe it was Covid vaccines On the bright side the Hardy Spicer ring and pinion gears are undamaged and can be reused
  20. Good news, transmission is fine Bad news, a half shaft went kaboom Transmission is still coming out for a health check and service to be on the safe side, and also getting a a heavy duty flex plate and some fresh bolts fitted, might as well as cost is minimal for the flex plate and bolts As I would still be rolling the dice with the 4l60e on a prepped track with drag radials though, there will be no more drag racing at WSID, so sad face 😞 Diff is getting pulled and sent off for some love IRT new half shafts In other, "car that actually runs" news, I hit the Yaris seats and carpet with the Bissell I didn't think they were that bad after the initial spounge down and clean I did, but after letting the stain remover sit for a little longer, a good scrub, and then some Bissell action I was proved wrong Lots of American Staffie sweat and dribble was removed The Yaris is now sitting all opened up in the sun to dry out The initial results were yucky to say they least, 🤮, a second time around with the Bissell was required
  21. The Yaris has the floor mats from my 86 They are the best part of the interior LOL
