  1. Hahaha oh man, i had it the wrong way round! I was under the impression that he lived near me, and his girlfriend lived a few houses down. That makes a lot more sense, thanks for clearing that up.
  2. I have a fairly standard R34 GT-T. Paying $1186 with just cars full comp. I have adjusted my excess so if i need to make a claim, i'm looking at big money ($3800). Pretty happy with the price
  3. Lol, thanks mate. Yer was cold that morning, turbo is loving the cold air. I also saw you going the opposite direction on the way home from work. Tristian? Not Dillon? Another person that lives near me that also works at NEC? Sheesh
  4. Saw Ashneel heading down Wellington road this morning. As always, your car is looking good :-)
  5. I'm glad they have toughened the P plater laws for these reasons. 18 Year old + high power car = big potential for disaster. Don't get me started on commondore drivers! That's another topic
  6. Do it man! Highly recommended
  7. Ahhh kids. Am i the only one that finds this topic ridiculously hilarious? Here's my suggestion: -Keep your R34 as is. -Follow the rules Your talk of a stealth supercharger will simply not work (For cheap + in order to fool a half decent cop + everything else that needs to be done to the car to get your setup working). Upgrade when you are off your P's. This is exactly what i did and it gave me something to look forward to. You cannot get away with anything these days. As other people have mentioned. Cops have it in for imports, more so skylines + p platers. I have a p plater friend with a bog stock r33 gts4 (non-turbo) that has been pulled over multiple times in a week. Not to mention the problems i had (Full license + R34 GT-T) Save your money, drive safe, best advice i can give you :-)
  8. I've been in love with Sky High ever since i discovered it when i got my license. Good drive, awesome restaurant and overall a good place to spend some time with the GF. Make sure you get there via Mountain Highway, nice twisty road not recommended for people that get car sick! Oh, i believe it closes at 10PM, entry is $4 but that fee is re-imbursed if you order 2 main meals (Unless things have changed)
  9. Oh man i'm paranoid, i'm slowly becoming a little more relaxed but when i first got the car i would go back to it every 30 mins to see if it was alright, they don't come much more paranoid than me! One thing i miss about the silvia lol, endured nearly 2 years of parking at FTG train station without incident.
  10. I personally wouldn't go down the DIY path. The unit i installed is a small self contained black box with an internal battery, sim card slot and antennae port (GPS + GSM) Works flawlessly (Has been operating in my car for the last month without a single hitch). I got it for $250, pretty impressed with the quality too. It has 2 SMS controllable outputs for immobilization. It's a simple matter (Well not really simple depending on how extreme you want to hide the thing) of installing it in an obscure spot and discreetly tapping into an immobilization point independant of your immobilizer for maximum security. Also has a microphone which allows you to dial in and listen to what's happening within your car. Trigger port which sends an SMS to your phone when your alarm goes off, and a host of other features. If you want a nice slice of peace of mind, i'd recommend any worried line owner to go down this path. It ain't a silver bullet but it's as close as you are going to get short of hiring a full time security guard to look over your car.
  11. Call me paranoid but i did my best to make sure my r34 is hard to steal. Consider buying a proper gsm/gps tracker like i did (Install it properly, took a total of 12-14 hours to install gps tracker & immobilizer system). My car SMSes me if the alarm is triggered. I have the option of SMSing a command back to the car to immobilize it. This is independant to my alarm/immobilizer system making it very secure. Even if someone manages to bypass it or tow the car, which they cannot really do short of taking the car apart. The system is battery backed and reports its co-ordinates back to me. Not to mention the fact that if i receive a message from my car saying the alarm has been triggered, i'll run bloody fast to see why it was set off. A part of me wants my car to get stolen so i can tell the police the exact co-ordinates of the car, would be priceless to see the filthy thieves face :-) You can never be too cautious with your skylines security
  12. Without doubt Mountain highway (Enter from the mount dandenong tourist road). The speed limit is 70km/h and its very twisty and windy. Highly recommended. The speed limit is simply stupid, way too fast for the average driver.
  13. Hell no! On the news it appeared to be 91 + ethanol. Not putting that shit in my car. As far as i know they didn't have dissies (Discounts) on premium
  14. Dude it's really simple, if you got your license before 1st July 2007, you are still bound by the 125kw/tonne rule as well as 3.5L/1000Kg. You cannot drive the v35 legally. The new rules are even more restrictive.
  15. But herein lies the problem. If we deport a few, we are deemed as racist and un-Australian. You just can't win. Any attempt to curb the problem will result in outcries of racism. It would be great to have a zero tolerance policy on this sort of violence, watching this video makes me feel very unsafe. Deport the troublemakers ASAP...I wish
  16. That's amazing! Why on earth would someone do such a thing? Perhaps he flicked it out on habit, completely forgot what area he was in. In any case, you should never flick cigarette butts out the window. Would have been good to get his rego.
  17. Ahh the young, gotta love them.
  18. Hey Ashneel did you see me coming home last night at about 11:30PM, just before i pulled into my court i saw your sexy tail lights. Geez R34's look good
  19. Man that sucks! Anyways guys, my defect is now cleared ($517 later). Went back to vicroads and they had trouble finding the certificate again!! They eventually found it on the system, stamped my defect and said have a nice day. No more strange looks at my car now with the yellow sticker gone. I think to onlookers, a defect sticker gives them the impression you are a criminal and/or serial killer/rapist
  20. Hey guys, I've been talking to Pettett via email. The guy is quite friendly and he is more than happy to answer any questions in regards to modification. If you're in doubt about anything, fire off an email to Knox TMU and you'll get a reply. Back to vicroads tomorrow for the third time, everything should be fine :-)
  21. You are kind of right. I knew some mods on the car were illegal so i pulled them off. I honestly had no idea about the intercooler piping. On second thought i spose having a nice car does outweigh the problems. The engineer got in touch with me, apparently VicRoads changed their certificate numbering system or something. Hopefully i can pick up my new certificate today.
  22. Well an update: I am very very pissed off at the moment. To the point where i am tempted to sell the car and make everyone happy. So: -I took all the paperwork to vicroads, waited only to discover that the roadworthy had the incorrect rego on it (Honest mistake). So they couldn't clear the defect. -I went to the mechanic and had the road worthy fixed. -I just went to vicroads only to discover that the engineering certificate had the wrong certificate number for the date (Honest mistake). They wouldn't accept it the 2nd time after talking to management. -The defect expires tomorrow at 5pm. So i ring the engineer, couldn't get in touch with him :-( I rang knox TMU asking politely for an extension to the defect due to work purposes and the stuff around i've experienced. Darryl (TMU) said no, there's too much paperwork to chase around. I'm screwed, i need to use my car to get to work. After tomorrow i can't. 3 weeks owning the car and all this trouble. Sadly i think this will be the last performance import i'll own. Cops don't like them and the stuff around i have experienced is just a sign telling me 'You shouldn't have bought this car' You may see a white R34 GT-T popping up on carsales very soon
  23. God help us if the guy had the plates 'R35GTR' I don't think ebay would accept the number of zeroes in the price he would be after
  24. Haha dude don't worry i was taking the piss out of myself. I have the plates LUKEB. Thought it would be cool to be recognised. Certainly gets a lot of attention at work. Co-worker: Is that your skyline in the carpark Me: Yer, how did you know it's mine Co-worker: The plates Me: Oh yerrrr, right. Yep shes mine
