HKS do make a VCT cam kit but it is very expensive (Andrew may dig it though!) - it was priced perhaps a fair amount more than say Jun cams. I have not seen any car with it though besides HKS's own demo car and well... that's hardly independent. If you believe the HKS spiel, response is greatly improved. T.

As far as I know, there's no thermostat in my Earls kit but you're free to ask the workshop who installed mine. My 19 row cooler is not installed in the normal place (no room!) but it only gets lukewarm but I expected this - I asked the distributor for Serck/Marston if this is normal and they said it was. The oil filter gets hot but I guess no more than say 50c because it's never uncomfortably hot. Otherwise the car runs as if the core was not there - warms up as quick as a stock car. T.

rb25det series II o2 sensor - where to get?
T0nyGTSt replied to paulr33's topic in General Automotive Discussion
If you want to be anal raped HARDDD... Get a 300zx sensor like, comes with a V. LONG tether for the funny VG30 block, standard Nissan plug. I got 400km out of tank and THIS INCLUDED high speed, high rpm. tuning so.... Oh well... live and learn. T. -
I've been ok with cops. I mainly drive in the north west... castle hill, auburn, granville, out to Vietnamland and maybe out to Lane Cove, Chatswood. I admittedly drive fast, on quiet backroads I give it a bit of a cain. Never had much problem with cops I could not talk out of. Those of you who've seen my know it's pretty stock looking except for wheels and the loud-ish exhaust. I often even tempt fate. I pulled into a Shell servo and there were half a dozen Hwy Patrol SS Commodores on a refuel/porkroll break. By the time I woke up to myself I was already 'committed' to the fuel pump and you'd look suspicious if you drove straight out again. Well you could cut the tension with a knife! I never felt so many eyes on the back of my neck. T.

This is my impression. Like Frank I use a Serck/Earls kilt. It's way overkill esp. in winter, although we'll see this weekend I do notice that the oil filter is very cool in normal driving? It's my impression that the motor sends the dirty oil to the filter thence to the cooler and back to the motor? This is the normal flow as the oil MUST pass the filter therefore must flow to the cooler? T.

Do r33gtst stock fuel pumps hummmm..?
T0nyGTSt replied to Trust33's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
That's the strange thing - new 044 pumps (like mine are very quiet) until you give it a big ol' hit on the gas pedal and then the pump accelerates up and shoots up more fuel. In theory if you cover it in that rubber and mount it on rubber washers, the pump should be quiet. No idea if you can knock one up from Clark rubber or somesuch. T. -

They are soft in a GT-R because it's in a rubber sheath. Most likely they installed it in your cars without the rubber sheath. They are even louder than old Bosch 044 pumps! T. -
Series 1 or 2? S2 is probably twice as expensive. Unfortunately GOOD clear, non hazed lights are something like $650 - $700 a pair. The ones you see for $300 or less are really rubbish ones off a 1993 that have turned yellow in the sun. Notice the bottom is painted black and as it ages, it goes clear. I supplied one to someone on the forum here and I think he's happy with it (Where are ya Chris?). Mine are good now although I suspect my left isn't watertight - it mists a bit and dries out in the sun. Here's some pics of my new looking lights... http://www.nitroware.net/~tony/xenon1.jpg http://www.nitroware.net/~tony/xenon2.jpg http://www.nitroware.net/~tony/xenon3.jpg If you're really stuck, gimme a yell and I'll see what I can do - I fixed mine ages ago after lots of hunting around. It was pinched off their complex on Silverwater Road? That is ballsy. T.
-
Yeah but Chris... Do you know where they insert the O2 Lambda probe? T.
-
What causes this? The car runs the FC with perfect A/F ratios. Power is dead strong with excellent throttle response due to some snappy Power Excel tuning. Fuel economy is admittedly excellent (400km on a tank) and the rear bar is clean. O2 sensor is new. I know just about everybody (including the tuners!) thinks it sounds mad... but it's driving me up the wall. T.
-
I just did 360km/55 litres which includes a full on 50-60km road tune and I hammer it quite often with a single way trip of 12km. Not the best for economy. I think 400km is doable with some care. My motor also runs lowish compression (8.5:1 maybe). T.

Yeh... it's been a while... Middle 2003? CRD again? T.

WHERE to get Hicas checked out ?
T0nyGTSt replied to gunjack's topic in General Automotive Discussion
I think most of you got the right idea with hicas. Unique has some good pictures: http://www.uniqueautosports.com.au/priceli...0suspension.htm I don't like the Tomei for obvious reasons: http://www.uniqueautosports.com.au/priceli...eihicaslock.jpg Their Aussie made look kit looks nice: http://www.uniqueautosports.com.au/priceli...yhicasbrace.jpg Looks like a Kazama but cheaper. T. -
N1 has a better block. Ribbed for your pleasure. N1 pistons are different but it's all a much in a muchness since they are all cast. I would say that your could get yourself an N1 block and fill it full of Arias forged, Carillo rods, Tomei crank, composite gasket, Nismo 581 turbines, FC management and how da fark would they know??? Or am I taking an unfair advantage? T.

I use Cusco. And a 1 litre catchcan is damn overkill... Unless you're SkylineGeoff... ha ha... T.

T0nyGTSt replied to gunjack's topic in General Automotive Discussion
f**k it off. If it's playing up you may as well get a Kazama or local lock kit and get rid of all that shit. T. -
You assume though that the VH45 will mate up to the 5 speed RB25 gearbox bell housing. T.
-
Jeez you're keen. 350km is a full tank for the RB25. Where are you headed anyway? T.
-
Does anyone know of a place in Sydney with a dyno that can produce a similar format. I've only seen the dynodynamics sheets which aren't as detailed. T.

There's a general respect here for cars of any type that are outstanding. The XR6T is an outstanding car. Be that as it may, I would take this: http://www.prestigemotorsport.com.au/?/au/...sp?StockID=1544 "You know you want it" German Ford Fiesta Engineer T.

On a pure power basis, 4.0 litres and a GT40 sized unit is always gonna see off a little 2.5 or 2.6 - you'll always have to run the little RB sixes up to the redline to keep up. But a 1,400kg vs. 1,750kg car is always going to make some people unhappy and it's not going to help on the track. T.
-
What do they say about Ford and Holden owners? All a bit one eyed? On the whole, that XR6 forum isn't too bad but of course you're always gonna get brainless clowns who think their car is the one and only. You can see it there where one guy says the C&V Falcon did a 10.9 therefore the XR6T is such a fast car with unlimited performance and that reflects on all our Falcons. It's as ridiculous as saying that Mario's GTR700 has any sort of association with the cars we drive. Of course an R34 GTt sedan with some carefully selected mods would have the potential to better the XR6T in almost every area be it track or drag. They are just different cars and some of their owners just can't see past their own bucket of bolts. But at least it's not N/A Silvia owners thinking they can beat GT-R's... T.
-
I know where you're going with this. If there were only 228 N1 R32 GT-R's made, how come they all turn up at some motorsport events? In practice, one can build a car to better than N1 spec for strict motorsport regs. but it will never have that unique Nissan N1 build plate. T.
