That's exactly what they did with my car but the morons couldn't get it started. The other car they pushed it with would have been stolen too, 100%.

Nice...was it dumped? Any significant damage?

Sell it... ...to me

How much do the inspections cost? Why not have a shot at it with a quiet exhaust and changing over the other obvious things they'll pick up on? The turbos and engine itself shouldn't be picked up (assuming you haven't notified them of the different engine number, perhaps say it needed replacing and you hadn't updated it yet). As long as you swap around intake and exhaust you might get lucky on the rest? Worth it if it's a couple hundred to test...

Interesting that the former BMW M head honcho is now in charge of Kia's performance division. He was quizzed on whether we would see more out of the Stinger's performance from a factory point of view, e.g. a GTR model...

Kias have come a long way But for the price point and performance, I'd be asking why not a similarly performing HSV or FPV? At least until those become extinct. Fuel economy, maybe. But unless that car gets aftermarket tuning support it's by no means extraordinary Do agree it's a good step for the company though. I think they need to do more than flagship it. Needs to trickle down to their other models - build a hot hatch. As the article said, this is their WRX moment. Hyundai reimagined itself by overhauling the whole range of offerings.

Well assuming you can connect that hose to the boost tee directly to the actuator and get 6psi, it can only be the boost T responsible. I'd just get an RB20 actuator and fit that...think they are 10psi stock from memory.

Need help losing oil but no oil leak?

The R8 LSA I sat behind (temporarily) this morning might reluctantly agree with you! -

Constantly trips me out that my R33 daily is older now than VH Commodores were when I first got my licence...I thought VNs were old shitters back then lol (they were) -
Whilst I don't disagree, he had the same issue with the previous boost tee he was using...so unless they're the same model of boost tee, I think it'll be in the plumbing of what he's done or something to do with that solenoid that changes boost depending on RPM. Speaking of, have you tried grounding that yet for the constant boost pressure? Make sure no splits/leaks in the vacuum hose going to boost tee.

R33 loss of power (fuel pump)
Birds replied to Mitch r33's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
Believe it or not, I was going to suggest the pump had sucked up some sediment...but after googling your pump, saw that it had a sock filter like the standard pump and ruled it out. Well done on finding that though...it's almost certainly the cause of your issues. What may look like good fuel flow from the hose may not be enough under heavy throttle / higher RPM. Testing the flow this way doesn't have the resistance of the fuel rail / regulator to build up pressure and really push the pump. But it can sometimes show if a pump is not working at all. Might be a good idea to drain the fuel tank / give it a flush out to stop it happening again. Also replace your fuel filter as it'll no doubt have copped some of the crap the pump sucked up. Alternatively, I can't recommend the 040 enough as a replacement pump if you can be bothered doing the hose clamp stuff to make it fit the cradle. They are a tractor pump so hardy against sediment and have a metal mesh on the end to stop heavier stuff getting in anyway. -

Remove hose and check that fuel flow. It kind of sounds like the pump may be fked. -
Kind of balances out selling your GTR at its lowest

There's access, but something about the bore fluid not dealing well with arctic temperatures...blah blah Unless it's just a unionised work force being too soft about working in low temperature conditions...in which case dezz finds himself a victim of industrial action.

Boggles my mind how people think the 26 is much of an upgrade over the 25. Older engine design with more flaws; GTR taxed parts and less availability; more prone to catastrophic failure...all for a negligible increase in displacement and a different soundtrack. -

R33 loss of power (fuel pump)
Birds replied to Mitch r33's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
Trace the fuel line from filter to the start of the rail and pull the hose off...then hold the hose into an empty bottle while someone turns the key to ignition...fuel pump will try to prime the rail but it'll effectively just keep squirting into the bottle. It should be a fairly strong stream. That might at least save you the hassle of fking around with that damn pump cradle bracket... -
Wheel size/offset for R33 GTS-T
Birds replied to sp_96's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Don't forget tyres and camber guys...plays a big part in whether the guards will get rubbed going over bumps or when turning the wheel full lock. I run 18x9+32 all four and had to roll guards. With 235/40 front, 265/35 rear, zero camber, lowered about 10cm off the ground, rolled guards...only scraped the guard liners on full lock so I took them out. With 245/40 all round now I get no scrapes anywhere. So I would say anything equally or more aggressive than I'm running, yes roll guards. Whether you need to flare or not will depend on camber and tyres and ride height and soft/firm suspension. -
R33 loss of power (fuel pump)
Birds replied to Mitch r33's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
Could be stuffed or blocked. You can check fuel pressure by disconnecting fuel line after filter and priming it into a bucket (ignition, no start) Check the fuel filter isn't clogged, too. But yeah failing that stuff, might be time to pull it out and have a look. Did you wire it with the stock wiring? Think I remember with the walbros you need to get rid of the variable voltage wiring that the stock pumps use. -
Help; car wont start (and its not the starter)

I was going to ask...first and foremost look at the belts and pulleys to see if the engine is even turning over... -
Car bogging with more the half throttle
Birds replied to Liam brah's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
Put a gauge on it as the factory boost gauge is shit and not measured in PSI from memory. Also take note of what boost it gets to at half throttle (when everything is going sweet) and at what boost it starts to turn to shit (full throttle etc.). Also check if it does this for half and full throttle conditions off boost, e.g. in 5th gear at 60 km/h so you can see if the turbo is involved in the bogging down. Factory boost is approx 7-10psi, ~0.5-0.7bar max.- 12 replies

Car bogging with more the half throttle
Birds replied to Liam brah's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
Missing some key information here... - Is it turbo...if so, what boost does it get to with the half throttle and what does it get to before it bogs down under full throttle? - Factory ECU or aftermarket w/tune? - Boost controller? If so, what boost is it set to? If it is turbo, my initial thoughts are that it is related to an inability to build pressure in the manifold causing the ECU to run rich, e.g. a leak or loose hose somewhere in the intake piping, wastegate stuck open, turbo fked etc. Factory ECU in the 25 does have a rich and retard mode which it will enter if the engine is boosted too high above the factory settings. Those with wastegates stuck shut, a boost controller set too high, or shitty/worn coilpacks will be familiar with this. As you've replaced TPS and fuel system components, the above is all I can think of that is also affected by throttle position (vacuum).- 12 replies
