This thread could give the sun cancer -
That's what I was referring to when you make a claim with your own insurance company and it gets logged. However, in this age of online quoting, unless recent claims (a common form/algorithm question) prevent you from starting a policy online, your insurance premiums are not likely to be affected otherwise.

After googling I can see there are a lot of interesting removal scams out there and $150 overcharge sounds like I got off lightly. Judging by all the positive reviews of the company, I'm guessing my situation was more a case of them expecting me to pay for their lazy admin work than a common scam. The things that stopped me kicking up a huge fuss are: they did work lightning fast and without damage; I wasn't in a good mental state to argue my point; and I also have a rule about starting shit with people who know where you live...

To be fair I did say no rush last I saw, need money for other stuff right now
-
Yep...now trying to achieve that house ownership / GTR balance Haven't been out there for a while...might head up on Saturday and see if another bolt has found its way into a hole...
-
I'd rather not give them an open referral based on how they treated me post-service, but if you're struggling to find a good company text me and I'll pass details.

Our last move was hybrid. Rented a driver's licence truck with a hydraulic tailgate (~$150 for 24 hours from Budget) to move most of our boxes, garage stuff and hardy/soft furniture. About two easy/single layer truck loads worth. Then hired professionals to move the delicates, glass, TVs etc. I think you can save a bit of money doing it this way depending how much stuff you have. Removalists were awesome during the move, very quick and efficient, knew how to pack everything and refused to let us help out. No items damaged. On the admin side, not so good. Was quoted for 2 guys + truck, 3 hours minimum on a Saturday move $500. They sent 3 guys (because the job after us required 3) and were done in only 2 hours - office bitch charged us $650 and denied it a case of overcharging, claiming that 3 people got the job done quicker and that with 2 people I'd have paid the same or more anyway because it would have taken longer. I didn't bother arguing the point over $150, but changing the arrangement on the customer like that is not cool. Shame because they were referred by friends who use them all the time. But in general I would say get professionals to do it. Just be aware that you get what you pay for. Some companies are f**king terrible. Like our previous move, where we paid only $300 and had two guys turn up - one with the IQ of a clock who only did it as a part time job on weekends, the other for whom it was his first week in the job and barely spoke English. The two of them spent more time talking and working out how they were going to move out stuff than actually moving it - you don't want to be teaching removalists how to do their job better.

This particular model took out fastest FWD around the ring; 7:54 https://www.carsales.com.au/dealer/details/Renault-Megane-2015/OAG-AD-15017086

Leigh considered a Megane RS? https://www.carsales.com.au/dealer/details/Renault-Megane-2016/OAG-AD-14835438 These things are seriously fun, well equipped and good handling cars for the money

Surely the standard 1.8 is alloy and half its size?

Buy another one for parts lol

Nah most 5 speed Supras came with a W58. They only used R154 in the MK3 to handle 1JZ no shit + in Soarers and Chasers. Originally a JDM Hilux 2WD box, which explains why they have a horribly agricultural shift feel. W58/57/55 boxes are the most common Supra boxes found in conversions cause they are small, relatively strong, have a range of shifter housing lengths (including remote), and were plentiful before all the kit car and 70s Holden/Ford manual conversion guys pillaged them from wreckers. The R154 is slightly larger but still a small box considering the power it holds. Used to upsell people to it when they asked for a W58 box to put behind a decent V8. Not many Aussie converters knew about them, but they also used to be rare cause the JDM / Supra guys would snap them up for their own conversions. Obviously not a problem now you can buy brand new lol. So there's a chance it could still be an R154 in there, particularly when he's done a Toyota V8 conversion and adaptor plates were/are available on eBay. Strong box but the GTS-T one is much nicer to shift.

This in Australind?

Just looked it up...does look nice and factory. Wonder if the LS upset the handling at all...apparently doesn't bother the RX7s too much. That's probably something I'd say excessive / tyre frying. Be happy with about 200rwkw in an MX5; would be plenty to have fun and keep it tractable on the street.
-
I've seen them make a few appearances...something different and probably nicer to drive. The only thing that doesn't make sense to me in the build is a Porsche fuel pump. Where did it say/show it had an R154? They did come in 1JZ Supras. Great box but I wouldn't want to break it with how rare and expensive they are now. Edit: just saw you can buy them brand new on eBay from Toyota for 3k? Daduq? When did this happen!

What a fantastic mongrel of a car https://www.carsales.com.au/private/details/AC-Cobra-2010/SSE-AD-2425806

If Mazda had given the latest MX5 the balls to pull a 5.5 second 0-100 it would have smashed the 86 for sales In other small targa/convertible options... I see Alfa 4Cs are still commanding huge prices Lotus' seem like good second hand value if you consider the depreciation from new And last of the MR2s converted to the last Celica engine look like fun
-
With the prices they are asking I'd rather SR20 a standard one...you know...just drop one in cause that's how easy engine conversions are
-
Guy seems to have trouble keeping grip under throttle...not sure if it's damp or just a tail-happy lightweight car Sounds alright but you'd be pushing that 1.4 hard to get it where you want it performance wise...I'm talking a hypergear high flow....Nismo 555s...PFC...Z32...GTR intake mod...

This is usually to account for a situation where that illegal modification contributed to an accident, or cover replacement/cost of modifications when making a total loss claim. Like I said, the interpretation is in the exact wording of your individual PDS as they all differ. I don't trust insurance companies either, but rest assured they have reputations to look after and still have to operate within what you can rationally argue in a tribunal. Your car making more power from an ECU isn't grounds for denial of a claim any more than a Ferrari over a Hyundai because the former is capable of going faster. Most exhaust systems are illegally loud but cannot possibly contribute to an accident because of this. The illegal modifications they are concerned about need to have an impact, e.g. your non factory HIDs blinded an oncoming driver; your slicks made you slide out in the wet; your car being 8cm off the ground made you smack your chassis on a speed hump; your locked diff made you lose control around a corner; your aftermarket drift handbrake caused the car to roll back into another; your car blew up because NOS; your car was in gear and your remote engine starter sent it rolling into the car/object in front. If you look hard enough every car on the road over 10 years old is unroadworthy and therefore illegal in some way. However, I do agree with you that the only 100% sure way to play it safe is to avoid illegal modifications. But 99% of the time you'll be right. Unless you take out a million bucks worth of public property, they aren't gonna be scrutinizing your car too closely, only the damage. -
Need help losing oil but no oil leak?

Also possible oil is pressurized / making its way from breather/s into the throttle body and burning off there. -

Comprehensive insurance is compreshensive - even if you caused the accident / were at fault they will pay you out. This includes losing control of the vehicle, which unless they can prove an illegal or unroadworthy modification was responsible for, you should be fine with. The secret with insurance is to check your product disclosure statement - every legal condition is written in there and that's the wording they will base a case on should a claim ever be challenged or should you ever have to take your insurance company to court over not paying you out. Make sure your vehicle/behaviour complies with the PDS and you're good.
