  1. basics -locked diff. sure you can get a 1.5 or 2 way LSD but they are expensive and not required. Lockers aren't perfect but it's a drift car, not a time attack race car. -a working clutch -skid rims and tyres. -remove HICAS -alignment. extras -coilovers -swaybars Power isn't needed. You want the car to handle well and be predictable. Save funds for repairs, servicing and tyres. Car damage is apart of drifting.
  2. OP; ignoring CO2 and global warning, what do you think should be done to solve rising energy costs? Considering all fossil fuels are exponentially depleting and we can't run our cars on petrol forever.
  3. In Victoria, if you follow EPA laws to the letter, EVERY performance modification to the engine is illegal. I highly doubt they can do much worse. On other note, humans can dramatically damage the earth. The OZONE layer is a great example of this. The OZONE layer had a huge hole in it, over Antarctica up until global bans on the production of CFCs. Guess what happened? The OZONE hole is decreasing. I think it is naive to assume that cutting down nearly all the worlds forest, burning unbelievably large amounts of fuels, will have no effect on the Earth. But, I don't think Australia should do anything about it. Australia produces 1% of human CO2 output. Without China, India and America greatly reducing their CO2 levels, nothing is going to change. Another way to look at is a nation security perspective. The less Australia relies on foreign sources of energy the better thus encouraging renewable energies is in our best interests.
  4. $100 no points. that is all. I drove my silvia around for a month on my automatic p's until i got my manual license.

    Sau Vic Tv...

great videos. cant wait for the deca footage.
  6. a mix of sound, timing and the feel of the car. It's not 100% though. Hit limiter jumping on a hwy the other day. SRs tend to drop off a bit before redline so i tend to change a bit earlier, if going hard.
  7. I would say either KE70 or R31 skyline but both are getting a bit pricey these days in manual.
  8. yep. car was off the road for like 2weeks then again, i did have to repair it one day.
  9. Got EPA a while back. might as well write up the story. Got a letter in the mail, some EPA car bitched. I found it amusing considering i had just put on a new muffler that was quieter then my practically straight pipe i was running beforehand. So, found a stock s14 exhaust and stock cat. The owner said the stock s14 had the original resonator replaced with something better. Awesome, every bit helps. Replaced the exhausted, realized I had leaks coming from the front of the car. Fixed a large front pipe leak but I could now hear leaks coming from the engine bay. Thought my manifold had cracked, only choice was to remove the entire turbo, check the manifold and all the gaskets. Asked for an extensionand got a 1 week extension. Removed everything and found that my last exhaust manifold stud had broken off in the head. Paid for something to drill out the stud. Bought a standard manifold and started to put everything back on the car only to find I managed to damage the thread of the turbo oil line on the block cuz of the banjo bolt. Asked the EPA for an extension and got a 2 week extension after writing a letter. Tapped the damaged thread and bought a braided oil line. Fixed all the leaks between the exhaust sections. 830am on a saturday got a test. Passed on 85db. The tester draws a diagram of the exhaust and writes down what he thinks he standard or not. He had a question marked over my cat. Tips to pass, stock system. 90db is quiet as. No leaks. Tester didn't check emission control systems.
  10. is this going to be a pure track/road car is will it be the daily that goes to the track? interesting in seeing how this progress. Maybe make a build thread.
  11. you can still have good offset rims and good handling. you just don't need to dump it on the ground and ruin roll centres. plus, macpherson struts greatly benefit from negative camber since under corner the camber angles changes vastly more then a multi-link or a double wishbone setup. not saying that hellaflush is good just saying you can have a bit of both worlds.
  12. i bought a set of air horns for my silvia because i was sick of getting cut off by tards in traffic. anyways, at first the two horns weren't that loud but i had the brilliant idea of only using one horn. so double the air into that horn would make it louder and it made a huge difference. It's quite a lot louder then a normal "beep" horn. I was thinking about buying another air compressor to increase the volume even more.
  13. so basically driving in a group of cars is illegal? last time i checked we lived in Australia not Iran. A public road is a public road, it doesn't matter where or when i drive, i am perfectly allowed to drive on it. Police cant "tell you to go home", they have no authority over where i can drive. Unfortunately they can just start writing out bullshit defects and send out EPAs if you annoy them.
  14. if you live in victoria, having two cars is a great idea if you can afford it. you are treated like a criminal for driving a modified vehicle in victoria so driving it to and from work only increases the chances of defects. it's not like driving in peak hour is fun in any car.
  15. i was trying to find a camber calculator to see how much camber would change with different LCAs. the only thing i could find was a piece of software that would cost $85. so does anyone know a free application that calculates camber for a macpherson strut or the maths to calculate it myself?
  16. a BLACK skin request. like the old one. PLEASE. cheers.
  17. was a good day but my own stupidity got myself badly sunburnt. that killed my energy. might volunteer again but in such hot weather seats and umbrellas would be a good idea for everyone. i keep saying it but i might actually enter next time.
  18. sif. SR20 is a great engine. its a space frame racing car, it doesn't need huge power to be very fast.
  19. its barely an excel. its a space frame race car with an SR20 and rwd. doesn't even use the stock engine or drive layout. neither the less awesome build.
  20. yeh better for more expensive and larger tyres.
  21. top quote 4 tyres. bottom quote 2 tyres. i didn't want 4 so i only bought 2. that cost $228. yeh it took 5 days.
  22. for that to happen though, the seat belt mounts or seat mounts would need to break.
  23. nope. these are LMs.
  24. i disagree. i find modern day super cars have lost all the passion from the past. most have move to luxury fast cars and no longer the raw racing supercar feel. if i was ever to buy a true super car it was be a F40. mustang is heavy, boring and dirt cheap. waste of money IMO. for many other cars i'd rather own. yet as they say, each to their own. which is good, less demand means cheaper cars for people who actually want them.
