Rad.. You could do a whole lineup of these for Stageas and s chassis etc. I say do it! 3D printing would be the way to go though [emoji848]

Rb26- Enlarging Std Throttle Bodies
LaurelPWR replied to XRATED's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Saw this on facebook when I was researching the enlarged throttle idea... Naprec claiming 40ps gains from their 49mm throttles and 49mm plenum ..is a big claim.. -

So the site seems to have crashed and now restored but many recent posts have been lost.....? Anyways my last post was something like "I might just start an antilag thread to get more detailed info from other who have had hands on experience with it, unless there is already a decent thread out in SAU"

No mate hahhaa.....I'm definitely not wrong. Do a Google search and you'll find a myriad of info on what I'm talking about... Below are a couple of pictures of examples of antilag systems... Here's a link to an aftermarket kit I'll be using - https://brewedmotors.com/blog/rally-style-anti-lag-system-tuning.html

Not Holding Boost! Hks 2835 Pro S .87 A/r
LaurelPWR replied to LaurelPWR's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
So I put around 22-23psi through the actuator and it opens and closes no worries and the linkage has roughly 10-15mm of travel out & in.... Everything in this situation has checked out normal and ok.... The only thing left to do is drop the exhaust completely and test boost again and then remove the turbo and have it inspected -

I did do all that at the start when all this first started but I can't remember for sure how it all went... Worth another try tho for sure -
Not Holding Boost! Hks 2835 Pro S .87 A/r
LaurelPWR replied to LaurelPWR's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
I'm not sure what else there is to say dude... The turbo was a new HKS 2835 Pro S internally gated with an .87 a/r rear. It's not a model specific kit for an rb or Jz or anything... Just a "universal" or "off he shelf" HKS turbo. So I had to rotate the housings before fitting it. After rotating the housings the actuator didn't line up with the bracket so I re-drilled the holes and re mounted it where it needed to be to line up twitch the flapper linkage. These are the only pics I can find of the turbo off the car. The first two (black background) are before any modification or rotating. The. There's a pic of the actuator after I re drilled it and then last two of ofer it was re mounted and housing rotated. -

One thing I don't think I've mentioned is that I had to rotate the housings and customise the actuator bracket before fitting the turbo... Maybe one the housings isn't seating exactly perfectly...?? Or maybe the actuator isn't happy with its position in relation to the gate flapper..? -

LaurelPWR replied to LaurelPWR's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
So I ran the turbo off the actuator yesterday and it struggled to make 20-22psi (has 22psi springs in it) So may be safe to say my boost control is playing up [emoji848] -

Haha nah dude.... Like I said, I was cruising when I heard the noise and it sounded like a small rock or 10mm socket tinging up under the car.... -

Not Holding Boost! Hks 2835 Pro S .87 A/r
LaurelPWR replied to LaurelPWR's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
While I was on the highway of said night that i noticed the "free boosting", I heard a "rattle & ting" type noise come from the engine bay around the turbo/dump area and from what I could hear over the loud highway driving noise it went nearly all the way to the back of the car...it sounded like a 10mm nut or something falling from the bay and flicking up under the car BUT I'm beginning to wonder if there was a restriction of some sort inside the exhaust and it's somehow cleared itself and flew out the back whilst cruising the m1 that night hahha -
Not Holding Boost! Hks 2835 Pro S .87 A/r
LaurelPWR replied to LaurelPWR's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
We did in fact test the opening/closing of the flapper multiple times in the first weeks when it wasn't making boost and it was a-ok. There's no physical way the dump can move and the special 2835proS split dumps are a work of art with the way they are welded all the way to the flange etc. -
Not Holding Boost! Hks 2835 Pro S .87 A/r
LaurelPWR replied to LaurelPWR's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Basics tell us- If a turbo car is going to over boost, it will do it in higher gears as there's more load on the engine thus more concentrated/energetic exhaust charge to push the turbine.... Stumped as to why my car only make target boost in 4th but free boosts in 1st, 2nd & 3rd now -
Not Holding Boost! Hks 2835 Pro S .87 A/r
LaurelPWR replied to LaurelPWR's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
I've also wondered about that a fair bit but when I do my regular boost leak tests, I put 10-20psi more than my max boost through the system and nothing leaks... BUT!!! the problem now is not the boost drop, it's OVERBOOST Hahahahah seeing 30+psi in 2nd and 3rd gear midway through the rev range is just not making any sense and if I don't lift off throttle it would keep going .... Wtf my dudes -

This turbo I have is still different and much worse than anything else... It didn't even hold 12psi of boost to 6500rpm and then dropping off sharply to 0psi... I've never seen a turbo do that -

LaurelPWR replied to LaurelPWR's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
I never did find a solution to the strange happenings and never pulled the turbo off to inspect it etc. I've just been driving the car as is from the graph/tune in the 1st post. Around 6 months ago the car stopped hitting target boost on my high boost setting (25psi) in fourth gear and was on 100% injector duty.. If was however, making full boost in lower gears...Turned out my z32 afm tune within the power fc had somehow changed itself .... An Hour on the dyno sorted the afm out and fixed the flat spots but never fixed or explained the boost discrepancies. Now, Whilst driving around randomly last night I noticed the cars acceleration felt a lot stronger in a few 2nd 3rd gear pulls I did after exiting the m1 highway... I did a few more pulls from 1st to 4th and monitored both boost gauges (one gets signal from the comp housing and the other from the plenum) 1st gear hit 26psi at around 7k rpm, 2nd went 31psi at roughly 5500-6500k rpm (and as quick as I could look and lift off the throttle at the same time), 3rd did the same as 2nd and 4th makes 24-25psi (which is my target) ..... I couldn't do a solid 5th gear run as road length is limited haha This is the same turbo that I talk about in the original post ^^ the one that wouldn't make boost without dropping off to 0psi unless I put 23psi of springs in the actuator What the actual f**k.... Anyone got any ideas ?
