What Do You Guys Think?
LANDSCRIBBLE replied to LANDSCRIBBLE's topic in RB Series - R31, R32, R33, R34 (1986-2002)
Just realised this isnt really the right place for this thread.. -
That is the rear part of the sump and it was quite oily and grimey as you can see. Do you guys think its from driving over something, or from a car jack/hoist?
-
Pretty much! I'm sure it has the potential to break into the 12's. One day when im bored i might get hold of some stock rear shockies and dampers. Instead of either bogging down or lighting the tyres up every time, it might absorb some of the initial shock and grip a little better. I need to also get some new bushes for my diff, helps with dreaded axle tramp apparently. I know for sure one of them are knackered.

Yep, mine is internal with a hybrid lowmount manifold and tomei 256 poncams . watching it lately its making 17psi by 4500 and holding to redline (7500 i think).

How To Make An R33 Gts-T Handle Better?
LANDSCRIBBLE replied to LANDSCRIBBLE's topic in Suspension, braking and tyres
Woops I meant KU36's on the front. Thanks for that. When funds permit i shall be on the lookout for some proper semi's, though maybe not the Dunlops or Yoko's, those prices just scare me, lol. I think so too, a 245 front and 255 would be ideal for me. What sort of air pressures are best? Or is it a case of dialing it in for each car. Yep, height/damper and springs are adjustable, havent had it corner weighted (only found out about that last night actually). Waiting to be installed are some front slotted DBA rotors with PMU HC+ pads, and fresh rear standard rotors with PMU B-spec pads. Aswell as some braided brake lines and RBF660 fluid. I think i read somewhere that with a GTS-t, to upgrade the front swaybar and leave the rear, apparently inducing understeer. There was a Whiteline swaybar group-buy at the time, lol. Not exactly getting any dramas with the car. I probably wasnt pushing it hard enough at the track day i went to (had some Achillies ATR sport tyres on at the time and was getting brake fade). So wasnt super confident + being my first time on Barbagello at night time. That is the Achillies 123 tyre is it? I also heard they are good, that they just dont last as long as the others. -
How To Make An R33 Gts-T Handle Better?

I'm curious to know with these cars which things can make a vast or not so vast improvement in the way of handling and balance, that doesnt cost a couple week's paycheck. I'll try and list all the things it currently has upgraded.. 18X9 +23 all round 235/40 Kumho KU31 front 265/35 Federal RSR rear Front strut brace BC BR Coilovers (8 and 6kg) 27mm whiteline front swaybar Nismo castor arms Shimmed diff (Pretty much locked) Aftermarket rear lower control arms HICAS lock bar Aluminium subframe bushes Relocate spare wheel and jack to shed I'm thinking maybe a bit more neg camber on the front could help, but what do i know, lol. Can any of the guru's out there recommend some things worth upgrading (that are good bang for buck) that might get this barge of a car faster lap times? Thanks. -
I was looking into directing some ducts at the back of the front brakes. I dont think theres enough room at full lock though unless it hangs really low.

Trap speeds arent too far off Martin. Were you getting wheelspin in 1st? I am interested to find out what would happen if we both took our cars to a roller dyno somewhere, along with a volunteer who can bring his/her 300rwkw car.. It takes a little over a second until its back on song for mine.

Brake Pads Users Ratings Guide
LANDSCRIBBLE replied to Snowman's topic in Suspension, braking and tyres
With regards to the HC+ pads. How did you go about bedding them in? -
mine had a nice oval muffler positioned shortly after the catalyct converter (sorta in the middle of the exhaust system). i took it to a exhaust shop and told them to remove that muffler for me. they cut pipes on infront and after the muffler and welded some new pipe in its place, so now it just has the cannon on the back.
-
Ive got an apexi exhaust with the big mid oval muffler cut off and welded inplace some pipe. It was cool at first but now im completely over the annoying drone noise. Currently looking for another big oval muffler.

I wish i could have changed it on the night but i didnt bring the laptop with me. Thanks, I'll try this next time, is there no point changing the spring rates for the rear? Has BC racing BR coilies with 6kg on the rears as standard i believe. 2.325 sec. Yea i did tend to just hammer through the gears, and when i changed back to my federal RSR's they did lose a bit of traction..
-
Yea might do Martin. I wonder if i could adjust the rear spring settings to make it less stiff, would that help with axle tramp? I had the dampers wound all the way down (soft). The launch control wasnt doing me much good with mickey thompsons on. Rpm limit set to 4000, dumping the clutch it would grip within a second and just bog down at 2500-3000rpm, i dont get any power until 4400 lol..

Sorry that run was 172kph. When it was doing 13.9's and 14's it was 176kph. Its an ATR43g3 internal gate.

Here ya go man, 13.6 at 176kph. Just couldnt get the thing off the line nicely last night. Will post some videos later of what i mean.

Potential Of Stock 33 Gtst Brakes
LANDSCRIBBLE replied to eightsixboy's topic in Suspension, braking and tyres
I'll be getting some new stock discs for the rear. I'm pretty keen on some Ferodo DS2500 pads for the front, but they are hard to find cheaper than $350 inc postage at the moment! -

Im thinking of upgrading my front rotors to DBA4000 T3 along with some new hi-po pads. Im wondering if the rear stock rotors are ok for track work? Ive seen a pair of DBA4000 T3 rear rotors for $338 and new stock rotors for $120. Is it worth spending the extra $200 odd on the DBA's? Also i heard the QFM A1RM pads are good but dont last very long, is this true? -
Also got my car back from tuning by C-Red today. I was a little sad panda when Mark said It made 335rwhp on 16psi (they say they have a low reading dyno). However it pulls hard once again, like it did with 375rwhp on 21psi last year, so im wrapped. It didnt seem to like 20psi very much with lots of pinging, so timing had to be taken out a fair bit. Taking it to the drags on wednesday to see what's what.
