Nope - only driving record is admissible, not the fact that you choose to defend it in court (as is your right). The more time I spend in other countries, the more I realise that Australia is becomming a police state.
I believe a lot of judges think along these lines also as they don't automatically side with the police prosecutor (who spends all day, everyday in court).
Also, the worst that can happen is that you are found guilty and given prescribed fine (which you will get anyway), plus court costs.
I guess it depends on how understanding your boss/lecturer is in giving you time off. Luckily my boss sides with me.
Well done fella
As Steve says, would be interesting to see times with some bigger terbs bolted on!
Goes to show how much additional power a GTR has to make in order to overcome the extra weight and drive train loss.
I take every speeding fine to court on principle.
Be very careful about what you admit to, as it will be read back as evidence in court - (no such thing as Miranda warning in Oz!)
As said above, be polite but deny everything. Less is more!
Write everything down as soon as you leave the scene and save the arguements for court. You have nothing to lose except for court costs of around $54 (last time I was there). More often than not I have had it either thrown out or at least discounted to the next lower bracket (which recovers your $50 odd bucks anyway).
BTW - I just recieved a summons posted to Bulgaria for a 70 in a 60 zone from July 2002!
I've been stringing this one out for a while now, so it will be interesting to see if they still have their Multinova calibration records for this period when I go to court in Jan next year!
Me be happy - my GTR that I imported 1 year ago from Japan is still worth what it cost me.
Now the zaust, PFC, boost kit, brake pads, repairs for a spin off at Collie, suspension.................., that's a different matter!
Kym
I'd lay money on the igniter module being on the way out.
Borrow a replacement from a mate to diagnose.
Also - the ohm test of the coilpack I've never found to be reliable.
Borrow a coil pack at the same time and swap them out one by one.
Funny thing was when I was doing this, by the time I went fanging up my favourite hill for the 6th time in an hour, there was a cop at the top with a speed gun! Obviously the locals got a bit pissed off.
They are 2 dimensional only, adjusting timing at various rev ranges.
As GTS-t VSPEC says, they make no account for engine load (measured by AFM voltage in the case of a PFC).
I've found pinging to occur over a similar rev range but only under certain load condidtions (mainly coming on boost in higher gears).
With the ITC you either have to be real conservative and dial out timing across this rev range, which means that you lose a lot of punch in 1st and 2nd gears, or risk damaging your motor.
Your call, but personally I wouldn't risk it.
I'm actually surprised at the cost - for all new components this is quite reasonable!
Try getting a quote for an M3/M5 engine from BMW or an HP engine from AMG (Mercedes) and compare!
Shipping and duties are another issue, however.
Do feel sorry for the guys that have forked out the dosh and are have to store their cars for longer.
On the other side of the coin, however, it means that my R32 GTR is still worth somewhere near what I imported it for a year ago.
Don't try and reinvent the wheel.
RB20 buildups are well documented - there's almost 20 years of experience with these motors now!
RB26 motors are now more commonly available and are dropping in price (Dan, if he buys yours I'll hit you up for a slab!)
I've hell abused the clutch that Ross put into my "R" without any slippage or problems so far (12 puck ceramic 2,500 lb clamp).
People spin out when they drive it 'cause it feels like factory.
I am O/S at present and need to get some turbos inspected in Brisbane that I'm looking at buying.
Does anyone have an EMAIL (I can't telephone or fax easily) contact for a turbo specialist in Brisbane?
Many thanks
Gav
Thanks Brett - with the strong AUD vs Yen the price has really come down.
I may just get themsent to Singapore and pick them up on the way back to oz to save some duties
