  1. Couldnt have said it better myself.
  2. Oh ye look no doubt - but i don't think any ramp rate is going to alter the 40rwkw odd that this is down on the midrange. 20rwkw, maybe... but 40rwkw when talking about what, 140-170rwkw, thats a fair percentage
  3. Probably only worth $500-$700 anyway mate. Not good either way, unlikely you'll see them again. Insurance money, set of -9's, turn a bad situation into a winning one
  4. ^ even then, under power to weight he was only lucky to get away with it. nice story tho...
  5. Not one supporting mod listed there. What good is a turbo if you have no other parts to make use of it? As i said - its a good 5k adventure.
  6. For $2000-$3000 - No. Injectors are $700-800, ECU + tune is at least $1500. $2300 before you even start with the turbo, fitting, new dump etc. Then comes the clutch and everything else. You need at least 5k realistically maybe more.
  7. As your post edit now shows - the turbo was experimental? Seems that one needs to go back to the drawing board
  8. Is this the turbo we are talking about here? I would suspect the answer to be no, in which case - what on earth are you posting it for?
  9. Please read the RB25 dyno sticky thread or do a search. There is no "single best turbo". Totally depends on your requirements, what you want for the car, budget and so on.
  10. Please use the search function - there are plenty of "walbro vs bosch" threads now. Thanks.
  11. It is still illegal. Car is build plated as turbo. Closed. Use the search function please. It's been covered in full detail plenty of times over the past 2 years.
  12. You have a Nissan sports car as a signage company car? To paint/install signs? Come on dude. You think VicRoads haven't seen that kinda stuff a million times before? You can apply for it, but i wouldn't get my hopes up. Also if you get caught driving it at ANY other time other than specifically for business, prepare to bend over (should you actually get an exemption).
  13. You don't have 350hp @ the wheels either mate. So whats the reference to 350rwhp for? I know what a 2530 is capable of. And as i linked - a HKS2530/RB25 - is making 10rwkw less @ peak, but 40rwkw more in the midrange than the turbo you have does. 10rwkw is here/nor there. dyno differences. So basically the 2530 is beating your setup in a huge way. Like i said, the turbo at this stage appears to have all the lag of a turbo capable of 300rwkw, without the power to back it up. That is very significant in my view.
  14. Brad can you please read the GB information for GB's/rules etc - and post up the info that is required. Thanks.
  15. Well organise with him direct and start another thread - or go via SAU traders or whatever else. Plenty of cheaper options.
  16. 1st lot of graphs compared to the 2nd - its a lot better... However 4000rpm you still only have 140rwkw, for a peak of only 230rwkw on 21psi IMO that is poor. You'd expect that kinda power delivery from a 600hp turbo - not a 400hp one. .86/.82 is a bad rear end choice for a start. Any why boost would be nosing over that hard is amazing... Certainly I'd have issues with that. As an example have a look @ the two graphs below simply taken from the RB25 dyno thread. 180rwkw @ 4100rpm, that is a whopping 40rwkw more than your setup for pretty much the same end result, and less boost as well to boot. http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/post-a279850- This next graph... 500-550hp GT30, making 160rwkw @ 4000rpm. 20rwkw more @ 4000/40rwkw more in the top end http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/post-a288761- Now my aim was not to bag your setup - simply to highlight there is a pretty big problem. I'd be investigating the boost control firstly - try get it holding 20psi to redline. If it wont (even with the gate held shut), then it's just a poor turbo.
  17. So is the "rebuilt" stock turbo now containing steel wheels? No-one would rebuild it and put ceramic wheels back in there.
  18. I highly doubt people buying $400 intercooler kits are going to be measuring things like pressure drop & temp diff across the cooler etc. Doesnt make much sense as that type of stuff isnt useful for them. That said... Nothing wrong with some of the cheap cores coming outta China etc - YOU will need to test them yourself. No-one around here likely has to be honest. I know one business using them in 400rwkw upgrade kits (not skylines), there is approx 0.5-1psi drop - Not bad for a china core. Workshop just welds on their own end tanks and off they go. You'd never know the difference compared to a $1000 core. However I'd be fairly sure the above is not a common occurence. This workshop tried many cores until they found a good one/supplier.
  19. A factory motor is more than fine - depending on the application. Hence if you tell us how much you have to spend, what your intended use of the car is etc etc - people can help rather than just keep throwing ideas around that might not offer you any real benefit at all. Stock heads are fine, stock bottom ends are also FINE if you only want say 250rwkw. So why put forged pistons, rods, N1 pumps etc etc spending cash on the head and all sorts of stuff in there? All you need is a new turbo, dump, injectors, AFM, ECU, clutch etc - That's 5k just there. Dont forget suspension, most likely some attention to brakes and then suddenly its 7k-8k-9k
  20. 280rwkw is the sweet spot really for a fast street car - much more and all you do is spin the tyres really. When i was running around with 370rwkw, it was rather pointless. A 280rwkw would have been faster than my car by a long shot simply because it gets the power down better. 350rwkw cars "feel" faster because they are laggier, doesnt mean they actually are
  21. I've very rarely had issues with ATi drivers. Once every 12 months. That said i never update when a new driver set comes out. I always update one behind. Might not get me the best 10th of performance, but never have a problem otherwise
  22. Physx - atm = joke. Hardly any games using it even 12 months later. The 5850 is better performing than a 460 anyway stock for stock by around 15% - and the ati o/c's better by all reports (most reviews show at least 6FPS increase which is huge, most usually are 4FPS at best) so its a no brainer for me. I just CBF'd waiting for the price drop
