  1. alot of flywheel rattle in these cars even more pronounced as you add mods and put more wear and tear on the drivetrain

  3. great to know there is aftermarket support there from the Willall team Martin what do you use to ecu tune? cobb? what are they putting down stock at the wheels? and what power can i see with an intake, catback and tune?
  4. I recently sold my e46 m3 convert - I'm a bit of a traditionalist when it comes to M cars, and the turbo fad (especially since the 1M is a remapped 135) just doesn't do it for me Id choose a c63 coupe over a 1M, but then I've already had a c63 sedan daily and no point doubling up with the SLS in the garage Plus the obvious reason the Evo is a lot cheaper to buy and own -$160 capped servicing, even the major fluid change
  5. I'm a big fan of e85 on my r35, clean running especially But I dont want to have to change injectors and pumps like I did on the GTR. Basically I don't want it turning into a money pit Re fj I'm putting it up on carsales today, I'll send you the link. It's a great 4wd, rock solid Toyota reliability and drivetrain. What sold me was the long thin windscreen. It's a really cool and unique feeling from behind the wheel Mine is white with all the silver exterior trim replaced with the oem Toyota USA black parts, bf Goodrich tyres, true bi-xenon projector headlights done by lightwerkz.net, oem roof rack, side rails, aux lights, front bottom shield, euro style soft led interior pool lighting etc. i even have the roof bar and 4 piaa spotties new in box i havent installed yet. I've built it look identical to the US trail teams spec http://www.cartype.com/pics/4551/full/toyota_fj-cruiser_trail_teams_special_edition_show2.jpg
  6. Thank for the info guys Martins car looks like a good buy. I'm not a used car buyer though so a new one is only option for me. Plus I already have one Japanese super soft cleared black car that tests all my hobbiest detailer skills The newer cars have a slightly better interior in terms of plastic quality, trim details (colour centre display for eg) and equipment. I was actually surprised it was that good, much better than the current impreza's. The door cards are very thin though, no where to elbow lean, but doors shut with a solid enough feel I don't think I'd mod it like I have the GTR, just a cat back jdm exhaust, intake and tune (Martin I'm assuming you have the remap thing covered on these). And only because the stock sound is too flat below 5k rpm. As soon as you mod a car it becomes compromised in some way, and the whole point of a daily is to be able to get in and just go How is it received though, am I going to get hassled by teens and cops? Do I have to worry about it getting singled out in a carpark? I've had a chat with some senior mitsu friends regarding the price drop reported, as that was the main reasons for re-igniting my interest in an Evo x,but it's not as simple as wiping 8k off the driveway price. The current msrp is 74k so just under 80 on road. Mitsu Japan offer bonuses to dealers which they already use to drop the price, hence there's a handful of new cars advertised at 69-71k driveway. What mitsu AUS will be doing for 2013 cars arriving in 2013 is remove these bonuses entirely. So basically you'll still end up with the same driveway price. It's also not confirmed yet, but rather leaked to a couple motor journos Either way I'm not fussed as a car currently sitting on a dealers showroom is a better car to negotiate on than one arriving in 6 months time At the start of the year I bought a 12 fj cruiser to bum around in, I've spent some time mod'ing it to look tougher, and I love the fact I can go and park it anywhere, but ultimately I miss having a sporty car to drive everyday
  7. Hi guys Anyone here own or come from an Evo X? I'm thinking about buying a new Evo X MR and using it as a daily driver Looking for feedback on reliability, how well the interior holds up over time to creeks and rattles, any issues with unwanted attention, does every ricer give you the 'run me' stare at the lights, do i have to worry about where to park it etc I went and drove one today and really liked it. It felt like a baby GTR. What blew me away was the grip on turn in and how fast it changes direction without fuss, it's about as darty as i remember an Exige feeling. The dual clutch is very smooth in auto mode and enough low down torque to get up to the speed limit quickly in higher gears, which is what i want in a daily Equipement levels are extremely good for the money too - cornering xenons, bluetooth, nav, mp3, rain sensing wipers, full leather, reverse cam etc
  8. holy thread revival be interesting to see what the locals are up to these days my list (lifted from my nagtroc build thread) http://www.nagtroc.o...__fromsearch__1 Power Mods - Top Secret Intake - Top Secret Turbo Inlet Pipes - Cobb 90mm catted midpipe - GZY Titanium 90mm exhaust with Garage Active Ti 130mm tips - GZY catless 80mm downpipes with ceramic coating - Cobb E85 Tune by Willall Racing (422awkw) - DW 950CC Injectors - HKS Fuel Pumps - HKS SSQV 4 Bovs Exterior Mods - ADV 5.2 21x10.5 and 21x11.5 w/ stage 2 weight reduction & cleared inner barrells - Yoki Advan rubber - Rays lugs - Revozport ducted carbon front lip (awaiting fitment) - Zele carbon skirts - Revozport carbon bootlid painted oem colour - Nordring dry carbon front grille - Color coded lower sills - MCR tail light harness - Top Racing dry carbon lower rear spoiler - Top Racing dry carbon mirrors - Swift Springs (awaiting fitment) - Zele matte carbon fender vent - Zero UK matte carbon naca ducts Interior - RSW matte carbon AC panel, Shifter Surround & tweeter cover - Custom red/black leather gearknob with red stitching - Custom alcantara main guage binnacle lid with red stitching - Custom matte carbon main guage bezel surround by RevoZport - 2012 MFD surround trim - Custom matte carbon subwoofer cover by RevoZport - Durement steering wheel - OEM Egoist leather scuff/kick plates - Gotboost fire extinguisher mount - Dynomat rear seat and boot Future Mods - SD Tune and finding more grip
  9. +1 on longevity - all 3 players, syvecs, ecutek and Cobb do it by retarding timing you aren't sitting on the limiter, but on the launch rpm, which in that vid is ~4500rpm you wouldn't do it at every set of traffic lights like the yanks did with the original launch control
  10. huge leap forward in tuning with Cobb now getting ready to roll out their boost off the line mod for those with the mods and more importantly, the grip, to take advantage of this, it should be good for 1-2 tenths off their 60ft a byproduct of this will mean Cobb will be able to offer user selectable launch rpm, most likely via duplicating your existing map and using the available 9 in-car adjustable map slots, rather than some clever pulling the indicator stalk trick (time will tell) - this is what i'm hanging out for, so i can actually lower the launch rpm and get off the line without frying the tyres
  11. Martin hows the tuning going on this? Are you maf or sd tuning? Looking forward to results, and also that dyno overlay if you can
  12. Wrong car..... Wrong forum
  13. the cluster is a very common problem i would write to Nissan based on the fact it's an already aknowledged issue by Nissan North America keep in mind a US spec cluster will be in mph. Not sure whether the dealer will need to flash it with your existing mileage etc, and there may be compatibility issues there - electronics on these cars are very fussy, we have to use Aus specific tpm sensors even
  14. have a look on carsales what f430's, Aston vantage's and 997.1 turbos are worth
  15. current economy is dictating price of "TOYS" more than any other glass gearbox or voided warranty consipiracy theories
  16. remember a good 50k+ of the new car price are government charges, so luxury cars will always depreciate exponentially the depreciation of the 09's will start to plateau now
  17. I was lucky enough to score a set of genuine EGOIST leather door sills in black - this is genuine leather, not foam backed vinyl like the dash and door trims Egoist parts are almost impossible to get $500 pickup - shipping at buyers cost
  18. using buffing machines comes with practice, it's not that hard. Nissan, and most jdm's, have soft clear coats, so you do have to be careful around panel edges. Flip side is you don't have to go too aggressive with your pad and polish combo to remove defects yeh my exhaust from midpipe back is 90mm titanium. I have catless downpipes and my midpipe has 2 small high flow cats, though with e85 I really don't need the cats as there's minimal carbon emissions and no blac smoke on full throttle. I may go full catless when I switch to an SD tune - I still have my catless midpipe in storage I've tried to make sound vids with my gopro but always just end up with a lot of wind noise My car sounds pretty much identical to this but with the HKS bov flutter - most of the sound comes from catless down pipes and midpipe
  19. Thanks fellas Lol John detailing is my main hobby it's all about the details.... perfect correction gratuitous shiney bonnet pic
  20. Few pics of my car at the recent hardtuned meet Haven't added any performance mods since my trip to willall last year. I bought some GFB Bovs (to replace my HKS SSQV 4's) that i need to install all cosmetic..... Top Racing dry carbon mirrors and thicker flat bottom steering wheel Revozport carbon speaker cover using my oem as core Dry carbon naca ducts Have a few more parts to be fitted incl. matte carbon zele fender vents and the new Revozport carbon ducted front lip then i'm done
  21. mod'd turbos....,very tempting any new updates? What other parts are planned for this car Martin, will you be fitting a bigger cooler and piping?
  22. Martin can you overlay this dyno onto your own WR600 dyno plot to compare how the greddy turbo's come on boost vs mod'd stock turbos
  23. im surprised they let you do multiple sub 10.99 runs also would have thought you'd get into the mid 10s with mod'd turbos did you have any traction issues with the super sports?
  24. good to see we have a local source for transmission/drivetrain repairs - i think most aussies are still adverse to mod'ing due to the stigma of the first US gearbox issues ive read about the bell housing tsb in US, what exactly are the symptoms or noises to look out for?
  25. That is a very impressive gain on a 100% stock car. 5k+ is a lot of coin so let's look at the options available From a cost pov, with 5k you could buy yourself a Cobb access port, an exhaust including downpipes if you know where to shop, even an intake, and get same gain with a canned tune From a features vs cost pov, you are far better off with a syvecs ecu - check out Martins running thread for his WR600, being able to set boost off the line for eg
