Hanaldo's R34 Gt(T) Skyline Build
timmy_89 replied to Hanaldo's topic in Members Cars, Project Overhauls & Restorations
Skeleton case definitely when in the car. I used the skeleton back during a motorkhana the other day and it was good. I had it mounted on the side window and then the door and the front guard just behind the wheel. Wasn't bad sounds wise. But I wasn't doing high speed either so the wind wasn't much of an issue. Doing anything high speed I think the wind would suck. -

I've used both closed and open back on my Hero3 and unless there is water around I will always use the open back. Sound is a hell of a lot clearer I'm happy with my GoPro, can't wait to get more use out of it. -

I missed the updates after asking!! Haha. Looks good man. I like the carbon look in the spoiler, not sure if I'm 100% on the parcel shelf, but the quality of the work looks good Also, what was the other car in the forward facing footage? And what was it running? Lol -
Not trying to be rude, might help with your sale though, I think the price is still a little too high, might be why no one has really commented. R34 GTT's seem to have dropped a bit lately in the last 6 months except for the ones with massive mods. I think you'll probably need to come down another couple of grand. I know you need to keep the price a bit higher because everyone always low balls, but the price might be turning people off? Just my opinion though, just thought I'd give input

Good read man. How long until you think you will get the injectors and ECU? Can you post an engine bay pic, I wouldn't mind seeing what the oil cap looks like on the engine. Can I suggest (not trying to be rude) that you should respray the intercooler, the car looks clean, especially after the wheels being resprayed, but I think the intercooler makes it look a bit tacky front on. Black on black looks great though -

Here's a couple of links Excuse the long starts, currently don't have any video editing software on my computer so these are just straight uploads. -

Nice thread mate. I assume the mods in your signature are what is done? Future plans? Planning on tracking it at all or just keeping it as a daily? -

Competed in a motorkhana that was held locally today, such great fun. Was my first 'track day' excluding 1/8th mile drags. Had a blast and was surprised at how I went. Pics/vids to come throughout the week. -
haha lots of information here i am heading over in july/august and there are a couple of things on then. unfortunately i am not sure of what is on prior to heading over so i can't help out at all.

Hey, I'm a little confused by what you're asking. Do you mean is it important to replace to prevent it from breaking? If so, I'm not too sure, I simply fitted the lock bar to get rid of the HICAS I was want to get track my car (when I eventually get to it). I did not read into the 'reliability' of the HICAS in R34's to know whether they are likely to break or not. The only 'advice' I can relay in regards to that is that my car has just over 150,000kms on it and I believe it was the original HICAS unit. Hopefully this helps. -

My bad haha. Like I said I'm not the most mechanical person myself, and I was relying solely on my friend to get all the work done. I was just a work horse so to speak hahaha. Thanks for the kind words Hopefully I get to do a bit more myself, I love actually working on cars (especially my own) but just don't have the full know how to do everything on my own lol. -

Where's best for the stands? :S Thanks for the tip on the light. In Dubbo it wouldn't be much of an issue. Most people don't even know what a Skyline is let alone HICAS . Good to know though as I plan to go to Sydney for some events along the way -

Ok so here's the slightly more detailed run down.. I went to Mudgee to a mates (guy with the XR6T in a photo in my first post) place while he was home from work. He has a pretty big shed, and a good mechanical knowledge, so I thought I'd use his expertise in changing the clutch. While I was there I thought I'd also fit the hicas bar that I've had laying about for months. Also Kam (psikazi - yellow R32 GTR pictured above also) gave me a 'drift' button that he decided not to use so thought I'd fit that while we were at it. He came to help when he was free also. First step was to obviously get the car off the ground, I think we achieved that rather well seeing as we didn't get access to the hoist as originally planned. Heres a shot with my GoPro with the gearbox pulled down, exhaust pulled off, etc. Centre console pulled out. Kam with his multipurpose (anything related to cars) flanny on. What else can you expect from us 'country' guys haha Comparison of the standard pressure plate (right) and the new/used Exedy pressure plate (left). As you can see the stock one had taken a bit of a beating and heat abuse. Being that I travelled over after finishing work it was well past business hours by the time we got everything off/down, so we had to wait until morning to drop off the flyhweel to get machined. Apparently I forgot to take a photo of that, but lets just say it was well f*cked. Being that we had to wait we decided to get the hicas lock bar fitted. This was extremely easy, I'd read a lot of different reports of people having power steering issues which made no sense to me. Turns out the older hicas unit Nissan used was hydraulic and used a power steering pump/fluid to work. The newer ones are electric, which mine was, which made it an easy case of just fitting the bar. I now have a hicas light obviously, but I will remove the light from the dash when I get the chance. I will also be getting it aligned very soon, but it was barely out so I didn't worry about it before heading home. This is how it looks . Then we fitted the 'drift' button for mad skid performance, or something along those lines. This was pretty easy, the hardest part was getting the handbrake grip off. Unhook the spring, put the grip back on and jam the button in. Works a charm. After this we had lunch then went to pick up the flywheel. Having never done this or seen a flywheel before (I'm really not that mechanically hands on) I didn't realise how bad it was until we picked it back up. Nice and shiny Got the clutch fitted back up and then went on to the gearbox. Was a bit of a pain as we didn't get it perfectly aligned to begin with, but once we fixed that it practically slipped on, wish a good push anyway . We filled it with new oil, then bled the clutch fluid and was on my way to bolting everything back up. I had my 'childish' moment though. Had to start it up quickly before bolting the exhaust back on (only removed it from the cat back). It was... loud. Haha. After a laugh we got that fitted back on and got it back on the ground. Went for a bit of a test drive and then my travel home begun. I took some timelapses with the GoPro over the 2 days as well. When I get around to putting them together I'll post some links I am entering the motorkhana for the Toyota Nationals which is held here in Dubbo annually on Easter weekend. I'm not Toyota but they are letting me in anyway . I'll probably have more pics/updates then. Cheers -

Yea I couldn't find anything saying that there was any differences at the time of looking. I think I paid around $70 delivered? Forget exactly. Definitely recommend fitting one. I had only driven a Skyline with HICAS and my previous S15 had it as well so I didn't really know any different. I had an hour drive after fitting it and could definitely feel the difference though. Kinda feels like it was more 'boat-ish' and 'sway-ish' before and more firm/predictable now. Will post pics and more details about everything else tonight -

I'm pretty sure it was an ISC lock bar. I bought it about a month after buying the car and only just got around to fitting it haha. -
