ahh the town stage....we were just tootling through there because it was an easy clear base time....even turned the 4wd off for a little more fun. I'm very happy with the suspension and alignment, have been running them for many years with excellent results....I'm not really looking past inappropriate tyre compound for the cause

yeah I admit we were trying But I'm not on face-thingy so I haven't seen whatever is on there The car is nice and soft and deliberately so, Gary put together a compromise for rally and circuit use and it works very well. Swaybars are standard because it is a production car, and springs are 350F and 450R. It ran very nicely through the bumps/rough sections/camber changes etc

What Have You Towed With Your Stagea Lately?

Hey Bob, I've actually been meaning to start a thread on it so I'll put the details there. Its a production race car (CAMS 3E) so the only changes are shocks/springs, adjustable bushes, radiator and oil cooler, nitto oil pump, sump extension, power FC, undercar surge tank, front calipers and safety gear inside (cage, seats, harness, kill switch etc). Standard (n1) brake disc size front and rear, standard calipers on the rear. Standard cams, capacity, turbs, gearbox, diff ratios from GTS4 but otherwise standard too. And Matt...we agreed it was even worse than Neil's patrol on fuel, we were getting about 300 to a tank. On the bright side that was a lot of stop/revive/survie, or in Neil's case stop/pee/smoke -
not really sure; 22 stages at say 20klm each, so maybe 400? Plus transport stages. It was pretty hot (>35) but I'm still a bit pissed off

Well on the back of "What have you done to your Stagea lately" and "What have you put in the back of your Stagea lately", here is the Stagea towing thread.... We used the ours to tow the race car to Targa High Country at Mt Buller and back on the weekend, did a great job and didn't miss a beat on the way. It sits a little nose up; we could go harder springs in the rear but it gets used without the trailer regularly so I am happy with the current compromise. The tow bar is 2t and came from Towbars of Woden in the ACT; I spoke to them the other day and unfortunately they don't make them any more but I have seen a few threads from other shops in this section

Oh and BTW well done Larry and Liam coming home 4th, it was great to compete with you guys. And good to meet you John, shame you couldn't get a new clutch in but at least you made it through the event....hope to see you out there again soon

The car was awesome for the first 1 3/4 days but we lost the brakes on Sat arvo; the pedal did not work 30% of the time which made it an interesting guessing game. The boys worked most of the night changing and bleeding brakes, and then changing the master cylinder at 5am the next morning to get us back out but it did not sort the problem; it seems to have some sort of air lock in the ABS because it magically gave us more air every time we bled it; we spend the day on Sunday bleeding it after every stage. Also had a minor electrical issue which returned us to wastegate boost on an ad-hoc basis, a fuel pressure issue (which luckily was only a problem at idle) and a diff that was shaking itself apart. Can't believe how good these cars feel when they are behaving though, it was beautiful and totally predictable. Overall the event was excellent fun, the roads are very (too?) fast with plenty of time over 6,000rpm in top gear, although we never got to the redline in top. Some tighter stages but I enjoyed the open stuff. Kel is an awesome navigator and didn't give a wrong call all weekend; as pretty much a rookie I was lucky to have her calling the shots. And not just good calling, also knowledge of the rules and logistics that kept us on track and got us to a medal at the end despite the car issues. And finally a huge thanks to Neil and Mark, they worked their arses off to keep the car running and were always in the right place when we needed them. Plenty of experience with these cars mean they did everything quick, right and no fuss.

hmm well that didn't all go to plan. simply put, the tyres were not up to the distance in those temps. this was the better front that we took off before the last stage. I took 4 Dunlop mediums and decided not to spend another $1k on 2 spares so I just grabbed some 5 year old Federals I had in case of emergency (1 in the car, one on the trailer). The tyre shop were super confident the 4 tyres would be fine. They were wrong. I noticed the front left had delaminated on the stage after lunch on sunday so changed it for the spare, but since I only had one spare we had to roll through the next 2 stages with mismatched fronts, we lost about 20min in those 2 stages. We managed to stay ahead of 999 back to the base of Buller, Neil and Mark did a super quick change of the other front and we were able to complete the rally; even with the rooted and mismatched fronts we were only 10sec slower up Buller on the last stage than we were on day 1.

expensive list, eh? but you will love how much better it feels once it is back to factory tightness or better. If you want to tighten up everything you also need: ball joints for the rear steering arms at the rear hubs. They flow out and leave the rear end unstable Inner and outer rod ends for rear steering (still need them in good condition with HICAS lock kit) inner rod ends for the front steering- 13 replies

yep the guys were up all night with brakes including BMC change and looks like we are 100% to go this morning. Car has been great and Kel is an amazing nav. we were 4th last night with Liam right behind, looks like some overnight changes put us back to 6th. I hope Arnold has a new clutch in for today, and the guys in the gtst needed new upper front arms day 1, other than that I think we are all going OK. Super hot and super fast up here, it's awesome fun.

Yeah I guess the club is trying to make the best of a bad situation that is beyond their control. A shame they are the ones that will loose out on costs/entrants due to council's decision

Good to hear John, see you down there too. My prep (which I though was pretty much finished) has gone kind of backwards. Current state Since I need to leave 5am tomorrow I have a bit to do The bush that needs replacing.... THen an alignment in Canberra tomorrow hopefully, then head down on Thursday

Hi Jason, I'm not sure exactly what you have found or need, but the later model (33,34) and even Navara electric speedo senders physically fit the 32 gearbox and can be used in the conversion

I fit s2 electric seats to my s1 and the required wiring and plug was there, I'd be pretty confident it is there for a s2 as well

4wd or 2wd? 4wd is trickier as the oil pick up has to be moved to clear the front drive shaft in the sump For 2wd presumably nothing is required; or rather it depends on what you want done beyond a basic clean and hone, same as any other build. -
Agree there is little to keep from a wreck. I'd grab 4 hubs and all the control arms/castor rods, attessa pump/accumulator, ps pump and steering rack (reco it) but that is about all. Sadly panels can be handy like bonnet, guards, front bumper, bov return pipe, bumper reo but they are often missing or stuffed in a wreck or half cut anyway For close race meets I take the short spares list: old but usable pads and rotors front and rear, oils and fluids. For longer trips I take more stuff (a bit random) but based on stuff I've broken before like castor rods, spare bushes And in the garage I have or am collecting engine, gearbox, diffs, subframes, attessa pumps, clutch/flywheel But most importantly I regularly check and swap stuff over between meets; recently replaced the steering rack, tailshaft centre bearing, front rotors, subframe bushes, engine belts, coil packs, ignitor. Shortly need to redo all the rear bushes too. And then call Pete if you get stuck

There used to be a v8 r32 getting around but I am pretty sure it was sold on and not sure where it got to. It had a solid 300kw, was very set up and went nicely. And if you want to save some money on the idea MBS026 on these forums has a half finished one you could probably look at starting with

Great if you are seeing results, but as Scotty suggested the base of the windscreen is a high pressure area, not low pressure, so air will be going in not out through this gap. The other part therefore is to look at the underfloor at the rear of the engine bay and make sure there is enough space for air to escape. -
