  1. ever since we all agreed webber is a hack, this thread has delivered
  2. yeah that was boz's old car. nothing wrong with that starlet either in a straight line, or around corners. damn thing only uses 3 wheels most of the time
  3. lol no chance.....it is under the plenum on a gtr. just imagine a piece of braided line 300mm long with a 1/8npt (or whatever it is) on on end, and a t piece on the other. cable tied to the brake lines above the chasis rail and under the brake booster next to the firewall. works well...very reliable in a car that spends plenty of time bashing around
  4. yes, that's how I've done it on my race car. braided line about 300mm from the standard pressure sender to a t piece mounted under the brake master cylinder. Been running for years without leaks and senders are working fine. the only trick was...I wasn't happy with remote mounting the temp sender as I wasn't sure I would get an accurate reading without flow past it. My temp sender is mounted on the remote filter adapter plate instead
  5. yes, 2 tips. 1...wear mechanics gloves. you are an excellent chance of slicing your hands on the edge of the boot floor. 2...use something (eg socket extension, large flat bladed screwdriver) and a hammer to start moving it. It can stay tight for 1-2 turns so just take it easy. And when you put it back together, go carefully with the seal.
  6. nope, no need to. It's the overall area of the pistons that matter, I haven't done the numbers but 8x small pistons is about the same as 4x stock pistons. how are the wilwood pistons for area compared to stock? Are you happy with master cylinder/pedal feel and front/rear balance
  7. lol, nothing like a competition to start a storm about rules. Reminds me why we don't have prizes at dyno days anymore
  8. pretty much anyone....we're a friendly club. you can't come in my car though
  9. yeah good call on the balaclava...it is optional for racing (not national) but required at rallies. also interesting his hand were burned, I'm sure he had compliant gloves on. I wonder if gloves should haev more than 1 layer. good to see he is OK, I guess the operation is to put skin from his bum onto his hands?
  10. strange, but good to know early I guess. pull the gear out of the oil pump...maybe it will fall into 3 pieces. was the pump new?
  11. I was disappointed both times I've done 1000m at an airport. yes 3rd gear wheelspin is funny. but no it's not really much quicker than 400m. perhaps this surface was OK, I did both mine on Goulburn airport. Lots of gravel and diesel.
  12. lol...fess up with pics mate.
  13. nasty. obviously either master cylinder or ABS module - master cylinder would be cheaper to replace with a new one (or rebuild).
  14. it won't necessarily be a problem. The ATTKD calipers are narrower front to rear than the factory ones by a few mm so it may not hit. I'd recommend taking the old caliper and disc off (leave the brake line attached), and dummy fit the new ones with wheel over. You may be pleasantly surprised
  15. yeah that is outrageously big. and I saw the incar from owen...shows the time he had to react.....SFA
  16. nasty....I counted about 12 seconds to get out of the car after it stopped moving, so make it 15 all up. he forgot to take the window net out first time, and forgot to unplug intercom too. no criticism, just a reminder how hard simple things can be when you are in major shock. there aren't many worse crashes than that, thank god he wasn't knocked out.
  17. not necessarily nick....toe drags the whole tyre across the road. just get a wheel alignment you'll know soon enough
  18. To me it makes sense in a couple of ways: 1/ the standard brakes aren't great, I could get them to fade if I was out for a hoon. Not deadly dangerous, just not quite up to scratch 2/ stagea replacement brakes are hard to find and expensive. Over time something like a brand new ksport setup with easily and cheaply replaced discs and pads makes good sense. plus you get new braided lines thrown in for free
  19. Hi Ray, are you going to join the SAU team for the Wakefield 6 hour regularity? http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/topic/353722-eoi-for-wakefeild-6-hours
  20. Looks like Mark is trying to temp us away from POVs to Radcam.... ------------------------------- A RadCam for only $399! Trade In Your Working POV 1 or 1.5 and Get $200 cash-back on a RadCam HDPro* ------------------------------ So Mark.....the POV has treated me well over the years....is the radcam going to be as simple and reliable?
  21. yes, but if you just take out the cams you can confirm it is pistons touching valves which is the most likely. Just undo the cam bolts slowly, start at the middle and undo a turn or 2 at a time on each bolt. also, are the spark plugs in? if so when you try and turn the balancer it is producing compression which can make it harder than you expect to turn the motor. But either way I would not turn it far before putting the timing belt on. You mentioned #1 is at TDC which is correct. The pin in the cams should point at the marking on the backing plate, or about 280o on lnlet and 70o on exhaust.
  22. I think that would be fine as long as you have a bleeder hose attached with fluid in it (ie if it does draw back it will only pull whatever just came out). But still, it doesn't make a lot of sense, it would always be faster and more reliable to close the bleeder in between. There is definately no 1 way valve(s)
  23. do you have cams in the motor? is the timing belt on? when you say you made sure valves are not touching pistons, how did you do that?
  24. BTW....run the numbers if you like....but detonation failures are far more common in #6, especially in rb26s. Ring lands and/or big end bearings Plenty of theories about plenum air distribution and heat at the rear of the motor, but who knows for sure.
