  1. G'day guys, gotta say I'm kinda concerned at the amount of carnage at CA over the weekend. I'm only getting 2nd hand info, but I hear there's a few people still in hospital with some rather serios injuries I'm starting to believe that CAMS will be taking a serious look at tarmac rallying in the near future. Your thoughts?
  2. Great effort! I simply can't wait to be shown all over it! I'll be sure to wear a bib!
  3. Nissan GT-R confirms Targa appearance in 2008 Monday November 26, 2007 Fresh from its world-wide unveiling at the Tokyo Motor Show in October, the new Nissan GT-R will make its Targa Tasmania debut in 2008. The car has been entered by motorsport identity Tony Alford and will run in the stand-out Donut King colours. The GT-R is described by Nissan as “an ultimate supercar for anyone, anywhere, at anytime”. The car features a newly developed Premium Midship package, including the world’s first independent transaxle 4WD developed independently by Nissan. Under the hood, the Nissan GT-R features an all-new 3.8-litre twin turbo V6 “VR38” engine, producing 353kW at 6400rpm and maximum torque of 588Nm from 3200 to 5200rpm. Targa Tasmania event director, Mark Perry, is delighted that the GT-R will be on show to motorsport fans in Tasmania when the event is held from April 15-22. “This car will be, I’m sure, very popular with spectators and fellow competitors,” Perry said. “It really ensures Targa is a great showcase for all things automotive. At one end of the spectrum we have a huge range of classic cars, dating back to the 1930s, then we have the latest performance cars that have only just been released.”
  4. Well we aim for 38 hot (end of stage) on DZ03. Typical start point is 32 cold. But yeh, that's tarmac rallying (9/10th's), not circuit (10/10th's)
  5. Good chat
  6. Haha! Noicccce work!
  7. Hahaha, ask YT how he fared in the face slap comp he challenged me to @ Buller Monday night! lol, he should still be showing signs! HAHAHA.
  8. Ok, so hopefully there'll be two R35 GTR's next year, and Heaphy told me over the weekend that he expect two Evo X's to be finished for it as well, though likely at this stage competing in Showroom. I'll be watching with interest Personally, I have a possible option of driving a Bullet Roadster in the 2009 event, but after the terrible event at Buller last weekend I'm steering clear of open cars.
  9. Groovy! See you there then
  10. Hello peoples! Well, Mt Buller is this Saturday through Monday! This is my first time at this event, and by all accounts it will be a lot of fun! There's a few Skylines/Nissnas enetered, surely some of them are fellow SAU'ers? And maybe some of you might even be going for a look-see? Rug up though, forecast says super cold! Anyway, I'll be naving in car #20, sitting alongside Deano "Heart of a Lion" Grant. My old Targa Tas mate Appleton is enetered with a mate of mine naving in his 34 too (car #34), so it should be a good dice between the two R34's Would be great to see any of you there!
  11. Ok, so you're selling a factory 34 V-Spec II carbon bonnet, in white. So how much do you want for it?
  12. Semi's should be interesting to obtain in 20". Even 19's are bad enough, hence Gallardo Superleggara with 18's.
  13. Thanks Russ! And that pic, I remember it well "Right three, Downhill, caution slippy onto bridge" So what does Appo do? Uses the white line to "tip her in a bit better" he reckons
  14. Ok, so it's not mine, but Jason the owner and I built it, and I get to sit in the silly side No pics of the engine out/suspension etc unfortunately. It's just built to CAMS Tarmac specs. But we wanted a stereo and the aircon still
  15. Haha, how 'bout we BOTH convince him and share driving/costs? Yeah, I see and agree with your other points, guess I just get rail-roaded into the whole dollar v kilometre debate. And yeah, that'd look pretty cool on the mantle
  16. Two rounds is a Targa Tasmania entry gents, or a Suncoast Rally whatever. Real tarmac rallies, with heaps of competetive kays. Heck, I think Mt Buller is about 3G. 160 odd competetive klm. One round is more than Targa Rookie entry..... win in your class and free entry to the full event the following year....... Snowy.......
  17. Great to read that again Thanks for posting!
  18. All I have to say is Hooobloodyray!!! http://www.targa.com.au/Competitors/LogIn/...espondence.html Mark Perry, thanks for taking on board mine (and I'm assuming many others) suggestion. In future, I can see a true "Showroom Showdown"!!!
  19. Russ and Mark, just wanted to tell you guys how jealous I am! haha, and I'm still filthy you weren't at Dutton Vic so I could see that angry thing myself. I was meant to get out to QR for your initial test day to take a test in Jason's blue R34 that you breezed by but couldn't make it. I'll be keeping an eye out for any more test days @ QR. Congrats to date, and best of luck for Japan
  20. This post is full of drivel..... Wrap it up.
  21. Yeah sure. But, cometh the rain, a 430 would be nowhere. It's akin to Jimmy being a winner in the dry in a GT3, but struggling in the same car in the wet. In 2004 Phil Griffin wanted to run his 360 Challenge Stradale road car, but was told no due to lack of numbers built. Benny, don't go doing anything crazy like "upgrading" your 33 yet mate, just get a bit of "Glenney" into you Geeez he was on the limit, had that thing haulin arse
  22. Ahhh, maybe it was Tony Alford I was talking to....... bloody post Targa drinks. lol
  23. I was told the main reason we don't see the quick Fezza's is that the build numbers are too low? But thats kinda not working for me now with the Lambo Superleggomechanoset Gallardos? You reckon a Fezz would be competetive outright? I don't, but would def be a buzz!
  24. Steve mentioned when i saw him this year that he was keen to get one. Greg Muller has ordered one (he's currently in an Evo 8), but whether it'll be a road or rally car he's not sure yet. We're (Dean n I) gonna wait n see what they weigh and if good rubber becomes available first, and if electronic trickery is easy or difficult like a 997 Turbo. With the new rules stipulating no lighter than factory weight, I'd be chasing a light car, and my gut says the new GTR may be a little fat. Hope not though! I've floated the idea of Deano (Car #979 owner/driver) tarmac speccing his Audi R8 in a couple of years when the lease is up
