  1. http://auto.howstuffworks.com/question522.htm Some info on a reverse idler gear.... Anyone know what exactly they are for, and why it would make the noise in neutral ?
  2. I wouldn't bother with an AVC-R either, I'd do the same as you PowerFC, but just not sure if i can justify it. I'd like the hand controler so i can limit rpm to say 3000rpm when leaving it at a workshop or somthing like that etc... and I'd may get a fatter power curve or something, but my AFR are pretty good with the standard ECU (its chipped by some company i've never heard of) So not sure if its worth me wasting my money on it.
  3. Running rich isn't so bad, its safer for the engine than running lean ? So you recon fuel economy is the advantage on a stock GTR?
  4. is there any advantage to running a PowerFC on a (near)standard GTR? On a GTR with say upgraded turbos/injectors etc.. i can see the need...
  5. Kel: usless pricks! if you haven't already - ask friends/family (NSW forum?) for a 'good' nissan dealership in your area... I hope my box is sorted out as well, i'm about to go crazy, all this on top of buying a house is just too much!
  6. Kel: Dealerships are individual businesses, maybe try taking your car to another dealership to be serviced/looked after? In fact, the Parts department and Service department are completly seperate too... My mechanic is friends with the guy in Ferntree Gully Nissan Spare parts... he's been very helpful pushign this through, but he has no control/say int he service department... But you're right i'm not holding my breath that the box is fixed, but if its not, they're gonna cop hell, and my mechanics going to start charging them for his time - which he has warned them. Thanks for the input kel.
  7. must of called half a dozen times today, no answer - does he not answer phone during BH or something? what time of hte day did you get through adz?
  8. beefy: you probably already know, but there are different hand controllers for different versions of the powerFC
  9. Ok got a call this morning from my Mechanic... Nissan called him, told him that they have fixed it. They say it was a 'reverse idler gear' It supposedly had burs on it... They have replaced the part, and put the gearbox back together. Mechanic spoke to his gearbox guy that i took my car to to let them listen, they said that makes sense and it's very likely that was the cause of the noise... Should be putting the gearbox back in tomorrow night hopefully..... fingers crossed this whole thing is sorted out now (and hopefully Nissan didn't break anything else while they were in there)
  10. members section is up?
  11. isn't duty and GST different?
  12. yeah we know that NOW beefy hehe naa thanks for the info, and you're right blackburn nissan parts aren't to bad.
  13. Would GST be added on top of that ?
  14. Naa Gearbox is at Nissan atm, report this morning was that they had taken it apart but hadn't found anything wrong yet - AKA they haven't touched it yet
  15. Yotis: I wasn't having a go at anyone directly, i was just using him as an example, but he said perfect condition car, not perfect car for him, big difference. How many perfect 8 year old cars have you seen? I've heard plenty of people say they have found a pefect condition car, pay top dollar for it, only to recieve it and its not perfect, theres a bit of paint fade here, or a scratch in the interior plastic there... etc.... IMO thats why the import market is flooded, because people import thinking 1 of 2 things. 1. They can get the car they want cheaper, which usually ends up being not much cheaper if at all, and they've had to wait for it for months. OR 2. They pay top dollar to get a 'perfect' car, only to find out when they get it, it wasn't as perfect as it seemed. If they spent the same mony buying a car for 4k less in australia thats still in good cond, they could spend the 4k they saved on fixing that scratch on the body, or replacing that leaky turbo.
  16. sure, i'll bring the gtr, i'll just pedal like the flinstones used to in the hole that used to be my gearbox...
  17. fair enough, just called then, no answer, will keep trying....
  18. you failed the first time? i didn't know! after all the crap in the thread about how you didn't need driving lessons etc... heh congratz, take it easy on the road dude.
  19. Bonnet washer blue LEDS, grrr GTR badges on gtsts - who do they think they are fooling? i've started to write notes and leave them on cars i see parked with GTR badges on that aren't GTR's... 'NOT A ****ING GTR' inark: haha cheap racing seats? doesn't INASNT have/sell them?
  20. bit suss that you're the only one who got thier stuff/refund and you're the only one who has been in contact with him... (ie he figures he'll only refund whoever hassles him) Did you give him our details of what he owes us?
  21. so what was it adz?
  22. Jake, still doesn't compare to the GTR you were looking at, 2 different classes of car personally i think the look is dated, looks like an 80's sports car... but each to thier own.
  23. Col-GTSX : how do you know it is in perfect condition? that is top dollar so i would expect it to be, but i'm assuming you've seen it with your own eyes, and taken it personally to have it checked out by someone you trust, or someone you are best friends with and would trust 24k with has done it for you? Sorry but this is the whole mentatilty that people get sucked into, can't find a perfect one here, but there is one in japan that i've never seen that someone tells me is perfect so it must be, i'll belive them because i really want a perfect one... but when they get it, its never perfect or what they expected.... that and they nearly always get damaged in transit to Australia, so there goes the perfect part as well.
  24. jim berry clutch.. its the guy who made the clutchs that Adrian and Stacey run (and others im sure).....
  25. It's because a lot of people keep importing thier own thinking its better because its supposedly cheaper (when it ends up costing more - hidden costs), and they think because they are importing they have this idea its a 'new' car (to australia) etc... but all they are doing its buying a 2nd hand car that they havne't seen and won't see for months.. So there is a flood of skylines in the market atm Also re: the kms... 1993 makes it 10-11 years old... 106,000ks ... how is that alot? 10,000kms per year ... Thats very low km for a 10 year old car, Find an Aussie car that has kms that low for a 93 model... "but other skylines only have 60,000km on them" do you really belive its only 60? 99% of skylines are wound back, so km don't mean jack shit with jap imports, the condition of the car/engine/interior, how well it is looked after etc... is what counts... keep that in mind when looking... anyone can spend 200 bucks buy a aftermarket speedo and claim thier 1993 model only has 20,000 kms on it
