Love My 350 But It's Too Slow. ~$6k Vq35de Build
sonicii replied to JJR's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
you are really going to struggle to get to those sort of numbers NA. Cam, exhaust, intake and tune will never get you anywhere near an extra 100-150KW. And even if you do throw enough money and work at it to manage those figures (and I mean a whole lot more than $6k), it will never be economical again. If KW is your goal, sell the V35 and buy an R32-34 GT-R. -
Did he swap out the Dual Mass Flywheel with a Single Mass? If so, extra gear noise is normal, especially at low RPM is normal. But it depends on what you mean when you say 'clutch disengaged'? does that mean clutch in, or out? Even with the stock DMF, you will get some gear rollover noise at idle with the transmission in N and the clutch out. Usually only noticable when you are next to a wall or other object to reflect the sound.

V36 Skyline - Mass Air Flow Sensor
sonicii replied to Amokk.7525's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
check your actual economy (L/100km), and get him to do the same KM/Tank is a poor indicator of fuel economy.. way too many variables. How low he lets his fuel tank run may well be different to how low you do. I could technically get over 700km out of a tank on my V35 with urban driving, but I would need to run the tank lower than I am comfortable with. I usually get to about 600-650km before filling. -
370gt Without A Spare Tyre ?!?
sonicii replied to Dog with Bone's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
I have heard of this as a option carmakers have instead of an actual spare tyre.. this is the first time I have actualy seen an example of it though. -
a 2012 V36 SP in 5A condition with sub 10,000km might demand those $$.. no way would I pay that for one with 60k km on it though.

Camshaft Or Crankshaft Sensor?! V35 350gt
sonicii replied to Memz's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
You will need to get the ECU codes read.. those symptoms can appear for a variety of causes. -
yeah, I think a lot is personal preference. in my last car I tried lots of different oils (of the same weight), and couldn't detect any difference between any of them in terms of performance or economy, so these days I just stick with a reasonable quality oil that doesn't cost too much.
-
I have been using Castrol Edge 5W-30 for years.. I just wait for one of the local auto stores to have a special on for around $40/5L and buy about 4 of them.. I use the same oil in my wife's J31 Maxima.
-
I would expect different TCU and transmission connectors. So you may need a harness swap too, which may mean other items need to be changed.
-
I can't imagine the ECU jumping into 'limp' mode just because you don't reset the fluid det counter. Some have suggested there may be some changes in the way the TCU controls the transmission based on the fluid age. I haven't seen anything official to confirm this and I have my doubts this is any more than a plain old counter, but if it is true, it would be a good idea to reset the counter when you replace the fluid. No idea if there is a 'non-consult3' way of doing this on the V35. I know for sure it is a consult only procedure on the maxima CVT TCU..

ah ok. the factory 18s on the V35 have 225/45 fronts and 245/45 rears. the stock 19s have 245/35. The higher profile on the 19s on the V36 will make the ride about as smooth as the factory 18s on the V35. 245/40/19 is quite a big tyre. even the current commodore doesn't run a tyre that large.
-
That's a high profile for a 19in rim. I run 45 profile tyres on my 18s to get the right overall diameter. The 19s should have 35 profile tyres I believe. Unless you are running something like 205 tyres. 19s with 45 profile tyres should feel the same as 18s with 45 profile tyres anyway.

Fitting Clutch Switch For Cruise Control
sonicii replied to gillywig2's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
I just bought a genuine clutch switch which fits into the existing cluch pedal housing. the clutch switch input on the CC unit is quite flexible, it works with a change of state, eg. closed - open, open-closed, 0V-12V, 12V-0V. -
the side ancor points in mine are directly behind the side seats on the parcel shelf. if they are there, you can't miss them. Perhaps someone has unbolted them on your car? but there should still be a hole in the parcel shelf..
-
Looks good. Cold package was a larger battery and no key locks on the front doors I believe. Anchor points should be on the rear parcel shelf, at least they are on my sedan. Coupe exhaust could probably be found at a wrecker? And just an FYI. All 350gt sedans are 'premium'.

I wouldn't take box trailer to pedders.. But maybe some franchises are better than others.. I have had many good experiences with the local fulcrum suspension outlet, but I am not sure if they are in all locations. As for the KU36, I know the op had 39s, I was just pointing out they do make a good tyre, if you can ignore the noise. A friend at work uses them on his turbo rx3 track car.. Where noise isn't exactly a problem. But their 'mid range' tyres are quite ordinary.
-
The KU36s I had were one of the best tyres I have used for grip and feedback, pitty they are insanely noisy. Not suitable for a daily IMHO, unless you have a car with a lot of sound insulation. I have had KU19s too, and they were quite poor all round.

V35 Sedan On Oem Coupe Suspension
sonicii replied to o2bfit's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
under $200 http://oziespares.com.au/25310-spf3297k.html and if you remove the arms and take them to a shop, they shouldn't charge much more than $50 to press out the old ones. The superpro bushes don't need to be pressed in. Coupe springs should come close though, I just don't know anyone that has done it. -

They should come close, otherwise, have you considered the superpro eccentric upper control arm bushes?, they claim to give +- 0.5deg camber adjustment -

how much camber have you got? I have z springs on my sedan, and the last tyres I had on the front were KU36s which are known to be soft, yet still did 30,000km with about -1.2deg camber.
