  1. Sounds like a typical Nissan dealer response. Of course they can do diagnostics, they just need a Consult 3+, which every Nissan workshop will have. They just don't want to because they are lazy and don't want to deal with any issues that pop up which they aren't familiar with and don't want to work on cars they haven't has specific training on. This is the list of workshops that used to be Infiniti workshops, and are therefore willing to help. INFINITI Auto Repair & Maintenance | INFINITI Australia
  2. Many items, especially engine parts are shared with locally delivered models, so shouldn't be too hard. otherwise, try amayama.com
  3. There was a thread a couple of years ago, seems the consensus is, it's a common fault, but no guarantee you will see the issue. If you are buying an Infiniti, then it will be 2012 or newer as that is when they were sold in Australia, I am fairly sure they used a different gasket by then, so you shouldn't be seeing this issue. If you are buying an earlier V36 Skyline (370GT), then it could still be affected.
  4. I can't really say what is best for the VR30 as I don't have one, but I know plenty of people have said things about oil weights in the past without a whole lot of evidence, so I would be wanting some empirical evidence that 0W-20 is causing problems before I go with a different oil weight. Plenty of people have told me the recommended 5W-30 oil is too thin for the VQ35 in our warmer environment, yet I have been using it in a V35 skyline in North Queensland since 2011 without issue. Based on the manual you posted, it looks like 5W-40 will be ok, but no idea if it would be 'a better choice'.
  5. I don't know for sure, but I expect the recent model V37 400R (or RV37) is pretty much identical to the recent model Q50 RedSport with the differences being cosmetic. (and ignoring the fact the new model Q50 RS is LHD only)
  6. It has more than mine does, you get a wheel brace at least, mine just has the tow ring. There is no spare, no goop, no jack, nothing in these, they come with runflat tyres from the factory. I bought a 370Z donut (which clears the akebonos), a jack and wheel brace for mine as I had normal tyres fitted last time. I just throw them in the boot if I am going out of town.
  7. spark plugs are just NGK LFR5AIX-11 for the iridium, or PLFR5A-11 for the platinum. you should be able to get these just about anywhere.
  8. I swapped my ball joints about 4 years ago, I bought the SPD ball joints from conceptZ, they are still working, but the boots fell apart after a few months. I notice they don't sell these anymore, maybe that is why. I ended up buying the replacement poly boots, which haven't split, but they open a gap when the suspension compresses, so I don't recommend them either. No idea about the Mevotech ball joints.. I would be surprised if you can't find these ball joints locally too, just search for 350Z rather than V35 That said, if you are going to the effort of pressing the ball joints out/in the steering knuckle (which is a pain of a job), the why not just also go with new bushes in your current LCAs? you can get the superpro poly bushes locally. 9. My Q50 doesn't even have 'goop', it comes standard with runflats, so no spare, no jack, no goop, nothing. No idea what the JDM models come with. I bought a 370Z donut (needs to be at least 18in to clear the akebonos), a spare jack and wheel brace and I throw that in the boot when I go out of town, saves having to spend the $$ and endure the downsides of runflat tyres. Apparently if you are creative, you can make yourself a replacement boot base out of high density foam and fit the donut under the boot mat, but you lose about 100mm of boot depth.
  10. There isn't that many cars yet that are using electric coolant pumps, but they are slowly becoming more common, especially in the euro brands. back in 2009, they were quite rare, pretty much all were either timing chain or accessory belt driven. That said, the VQ37VHR isn't an uncommon engine, so any decent mechanic should be able to replace the water pump. I don't live in NSW, so can't make any suggestions.
  11. Ah, yeah, the diff bushing in the rear subframe, this has been a problem since the start of the V35 in the early '00s and the only solution ever offered by Nissan is a whole new subframe. Since they are fluid filled, as soon as they form the smallest crack, they leak brown fluid everywhere. The aftermarket options for the v35 and V36 aren't suitable for the V37 either, Z1 has built an aftermarket option, but a few people have had issues with it. The brace should reduce movement in that bushing, so should extend its life! Did you notice any increase in noise from the driveline? I know some have installed solid subframe collars and complain about the amount of noise it transmits through to the body, but not sure if the diff brace makes any noticeable difference?
  12. Nice, they are pretty common mods in the US. Have been considering sway bars for my Q50 Hybrid. Given it is AWD, I don't really have any wheel hop issues on hard launches, so I am not sure the diff brace would help as much as it did for you. I'm surprised the diff brace made any difference to shift feel, since it doesn't impact the auto transmission in any way, if anything I would have expected to feel shifts even more as there is less 'give' in the diff mountings to soak up the shift shock. Are you sure this one isn't placebo?
  13. 215/45/18 tyres are probably a little on the low side compared to the factory tyre, it should be closer to a 245/45/19, which will get you about an extra 11mm of height, and should make you speedo read a bit closer to reality. 245/45/19s will be a bit too far the other way and you risk a speeding ticket as your speedo might read slower than your actual speed. 245/40/19s would be correct if you are going to 19in rims, they will give you a similar total diameter to the 245/45/18 tyres.
  14. I would be starting with this wire, when this is grounded, it engages the relay that supplies power main to the ECU and a few other items. I suspect this relay should NOT be energised when the ignition is turned off. Either the ECU is faulty and is grounding this pin on the ECU full time, or there is a short to ground somewhere between the ECU connector and this relay. Pull the relay and use a multimeter on ohms between pin 36 (I think it is 36) of the IPDM and ground, you will likely measure near enough to zero ohms. Unplug the ECU and check again between 36 and ground, if it is now open, it is likely the ECU at fault, or something telling the ECU the ignition is still on, if you are still measuring something similar to the first measurement to ground, you probably have a wiring problem. If you can unplug the IPDM, do that, if you still measure low resistance to ground at that relay connector, the issue is in the IPDM, if you are now measuring high or infinite resistance, the issue is in the harness.
  15. at $45k, might be why they are still for sale. Redbook range is $25-33k for a 2018 RS. There is also a 2019 400R for $62k and a 2020 for $56k on carsales. So I would expect a 2023+ to be more. Personally, I don't think the JDM version looks much better, tails do. but front? meh.., so for that sort of $ difference, I would take a late AuDM Q50 and put a bit aside for new turbos when they go, but everyone has their preferences..
  16. you can pick up a 2018 AuDM RS for around $30k, can you really get a 2023 JDM V37 for that? If so I may need to consider one...
  17. when you pulled the ECCS connector, do you still have 12V at pin 31 of the IPDM, if you do, this suggests a problem with the relay (which you probably eliminated by swapping relays), or a wiring problem between IPDM pin 36 and ECCS pin 31. ( I hope those pin numbers are correct, they are a little hard to read). As Duncan mentioned if you have a short to ground on that wire, it will keep that relay engaged all the time.
  18. As above, I would be looking into why they relay is engaged when the ignition is NOT on. If there was supposed to be full time power on this circuit, why have a relay there? 400mA may be perfectly normal when that relay is engaged and not indicate a faulty item supplied by that relay.
  19. What does the JDM V37 400R offer over the AuDM V37 Q50 RS? Other than a newer build?
  20. yeah, that's not a VQ hybrid engine, it isn't even a VQ35HR.. that is a VQ35DD, which is a bit of a unicorn, only fitted to a couple of vehicles, but definitely not the hybrid. It is a direct injected engine for a start, the HR isn't.
  21. hmm.. maybe you just need to go up to a 6pk1190 or even a 6pk1200
  22. something isn't right there, the last one I bought was a 6pk1170, which is 10mm shorter and it fitted fine. are you sure everything is stock?
  23. problems like that under heavy load is often spark related, either plugs or coil packs. As above, the lack of a CEL doesn't always mean all is healthy on the ignition front.
  24. I would agree with Duncan, although I have the Q50 Hybrid, the drivetrain is pretty much identical. I haven't had any issues at all with mine, it is a 2015 model and I have owned it for just over 3 years now. My local Nissan dealer won't touch it, I asked them if they can do a DAS wheel alignment (not sure if DAS was on the Fuga), and they just refused, saying they don't know anything about working on Infinitis, so no way would they be interested in touching the hybrid system. If you happen to live somewhere near one of the ex-infiniti dealers/workshops, they will probably more willing to help. @Duncan what battery is $5k? maybe the Fuga pack is different, but for the Q50, the complete battery pack is about $12k from Japan, or an individual cell module is around $1,200. Although once the car is a few years, Nissan recommend replacing the entire battery pack if you have a module fail.
  25. If you have an AuDM Infiniti G37, my first suggestion would be one of the ex-infiniti dealers, like Brighton. however, if you have an imported V36 Skyline, then I am not sure, dealers can be a bit finicky about imports.
