  1. Where did you see feedback/info about the GKtech UCA's?
  2. It's in the projects section somewhere. Getting tuned Monday so will report back. Will be sure to ask my tuner his thoughts on cam timing RE 25/30 as he has tuned quite a number of them now.
  3. Nope not at all. Until you start hearing an exhaust leak you are in the clear. I purchased my RB20 R32 and flogged the shit out of it for two years happily. When it came out for 25 conversion I found there was only 8 studs holding the exhaust manifold on, the rest were snapped
  4. Only just. Why would you risk it when you can give a fabricator $100 and it will be much safer.

  6. Agree with gtsboy. I always wonder why people love buying blitz coolers and having it sit a bees dick off the road. I would absolutely buy a generic core and get a decent fabricator to relocate the cold side piping to behind the cooler somewhere.

  8. Is your exhaust stable and doesn't flop around? I can almost guarantee it's the exhaust if it has excess movement/missing a hangar etc.
  9. I run a shimmed RB30 pump and have good oil pressure.
  10. Can't upload to YouTube for some reason. All new nuts and studs and 6boost manifold. All that is good. I knowingly reused old exhaust mani gasket and think I have paid the price.
  11. Hey guys. Reused a exhaust manifold gasket that only had 200km on it when I put motor back together. Now I have a ticking sound that can be heard right through the rev range in every gear. Don't hear it on idle unless you open the throttle up. I haven't revved the car over 2500 rpm just incase it is something more sinister. I am quite confident it is a exhaust leak though. I know YouTube mechanics is hard but any help is appreciated. Video will be up soon.

  14. Ended up just setting them to zero in the end. Will just let the tuner mess with it. And yes I know the exhaust isn't on zero, I did move it back.
  15. Bens saying that if he did have an AFM it would be okay(ish). But he doesn't. So it isn't.

  17. What you are describing and what you posted a picture of most certainly is the clutch line.
  18. Engine is back in the bay and (pending no leaks from the fittings) it seems I may have sorted the VCT problem. More pics and write up tomorrow. Also I wonder if anyone else can notice anything unusual with the VCT
  19. How did you manage to crack the head?
  20. Why would you want VCT when you could have stage 1 cams?
  21. RB20DET gearbox is skinny and has a flat shifter plate. Easy to be confused with a SR20DET box as they are practically the same thing. RB25DET box is physically a lot bigger and has a slanted shifter plate.

  23. Lend me some motivation. Guy who originally welded my head for VCT oil line f**ked it and actually cracked the head somehow and it's now leaking. Tried to fill it with JB weld and it got into the crack and now cannot be welded back up as no weld will take to the JB weld. Me having no idea about how any of this stuff works only found out right at the end when I got told the head is now not salvageable. Right. I said f**k it (lucky I had a spare neo head laying around) I will use my other head. So I took it to someone else who specialises in this work. Told them to weld VCT hole In bottom of head and deck flat, and drill and tap front of head for VCT fitting. They drilled and tapped in the wrong spot and now the fitting in the head only clears the intake manifold by 3mm. And that's with nothing screwed into it. I'm well over getting assf**ked by supposedly reputable people. f**k newcastle, get me back to SA. And f**k this f**king car.
