Anyone heard if BW have their supply issues sorted out yet? I know from reading the suby forums back in April they were still having issues..
Im looking into either the new-ish 7163, or one of the medium frame brothers. I think (especially) the 7163 in IWG on a TS mani will be good for a "street" turbo.
its just the possible wait that is a little depressing
You could have all the fancy ducting and frontal exposure in the world, but unless that heated air has some where to go (read: low pressure after heat exchange), it wont do much.. Too often you see people install these 100mm+ thick intercoolers just to have them sitting near-flush with radiator/fans/supports, etc.
It's much more worthwhile to examine the air that is trying to escape than worrying about how the air enters.. My two cents.
So basically what i could gather from your post Lith, is that GT3076-HTA = uncensored turbo pr0n. Like the gtx series, do these respond better to high pressure ratios? I cant seem to find a compressor map for these..
The gtx3076r is similar in spool, if not a small margin worse, than the gt. The gtx really only comes to life once you start throwing lots of psi at it. Although.. Im sure a true twin scroll housing+manifold would bring the spool back to baseline.
Any luck with the tune Scott?
Exactly my thinking. On paper atleast, the gtx3076 has potential to do 400wkw. Wouldnt the 1.06a/r in TS be enough to keep temps down, and still be suitable for minimal lag? Perhaps it will suffer slightly on a standard capacity 2.6, but a 2.8 or bigger....
Hey mate,
Interested in the twin power. Can't seem to find much information on it. Does it have limited compatibility? Or is it basically a "univeral" type arrangement..
Cheers!
Does anyone else picture a furry little cat clinging onto the bottm of the car for dear-life? Lol.
I used to have a nismo cat. Made 252rwkw. Dropped it and put in a de-cat pipe.. Made ~262rwkw. Silly mistake.. Should have kept it on. The power gain barely (if at all) justifies the legal issues.
Advan performance in sydney have a done a few turbo bimmers..
I drool every time i go in there. They have a roadster with (i think) 700rwhp. Animal. They had a stock M twin turbo.. Made 260rwkw stock!
If you're in sydney, maybe give peter a call at advan
+1
Definitely. Quality was good too. No sharp or rough edges, nice thick walls, and great fit. Plus as stated above, every hose, nut, bolt, and nipple was supplied. I even rate their throttle body highly
Oversize valves.. Depends what turbo setup you have. Can be a worthwhile modification.. Of course, its how you perceive "worthwhile". The coin involved might not return the type of gains you're after.
Best of luck with the mods
With my GT-RS i ran it at 20psi on a stock motor making 262rwkw for about 50,000km before an oil issue caused me to spin a bearing.
Care and tune are king
I have a 3" nismo system i'll be selling soon to make way for a 3.5" system.
As sarge said nismo system is great, flows pretty well and is reasonable on the ears. Great tone without much of a drone.
Is it a really loud knock? Especially coming from the rear, i would imagine a spun bearing. Sufficient oil at all times? Do you have a stock sump, or extended?
The builders may have dodgied the oil by not putting enough in..
Forged engines are great, but from what i've read, are more prone to damage from lack of oil compared to stock parts..
