  1. Yeah, stretched tyres are for hellaflush phags aka majority of s15 owners.
  2. My S15 is currently off the road, and my defective Tomei N2 oil pan is on its way to the Tomei HQ waiting to be tested for confirmation of the defect (which will warrant a replacement). Oh boy would it be awesome to pilot a spare N1 R34 GT-R through the Putty.... =P.
  3. If there are some clips missing which are used to fix on the front bar, this is enough to make the front bumper sag down a smidge. Even over time, some cars will have their bumpers sag down a touch. But, think about this....there are plenty of "original" second hand used front bars which can be used to replace a damaged one. If you're worried, easiest way to check if your car has some "front-end" history, is to check whether the bolts for the front quarters have been taken off. The paint for the bolts will basically "shatter" when you undo the front quarter panels, and as a result the bolts will usually be brush-touched for repaint. But obviously there are a lot more factors you need to look for. Checking for all original seam welding is useful too.
  4. Due to my interest, I found the carsales ad. It was too no surprise that he hasn't provided any pictures of the engine bay. Lols. Heres what you do, rock up and say you want to ensure the front end has been repaired properly (and to my guess it hasn't considering they can't even sort out the panel gaps.... ha)....and then you'll be in the ballgame to start low balling. A telltale sign of the accident damage (so people in the future know), is look at the passenger headlight and the bottom gap with the front bumper. See how its a bigger gap than on the drivers side even though the bar is PUSHED up higher in relation to the bonnet? Now to rule out bonnet sag, the front quarter panel wrappssss around the front headlight differently to the drivers side.
  5. Okay first of all....you shouldn't of drawn all over the car with red...Its blurring my panel gap inspection. Front bar has been taken off, and bonnet has non original panel gaps. Headlight alignment is also skew whiff. Take it from me, I own an S15 with a clean slate . The fact its not listed as being in an accident means nothing.
  6. It seems that some parts have been replaced since the SpeedHunters article such as turbine(s), pistons, conrods... Nontheless, the things I would do to own such a vehicle....not only would the buyer have bought a feat of engineering, but also would have bought the rich history that comes with it (from the cars exploits on the Wangan & the Yatabe test course which is now non-existant, a place in the Mid Night Club, RH9 certification, to Tweenie Rob's ownership in the UK). I really wish one day I own the car, sucks its been sold lol.
  7. Ah yep, this is it.... http://www.speedhunters.com/2010/03/car_feature_gt_gt_meeting_a_legend_the_drag_r_ii_skyline_r33_top_secret/
  8. Noticed this was listed as sold on Harlow Jap Autos. This car was in a lot of option videos so I wonder how much it actually sold for given its racing pedigree and history. All the mods list are listed so people may be interested... http://www.harlow-jap-autos.co.uk/TopSecretDragR.HTML "It became famous when it appeared in the below clip from Max Power's 'Beasts from the East' video (and the later Duke Skyline GTR DVD) where it clocked over 200mph through a tunnel in Tokyo" So turns out its the same genuine 900hp 9 Sec Top Secret R33 GT-R that clocked 328kmh on a cannonball tunnel run. I've heard talk there is a Top Secret R33 GT-R in Australia, but musn't be the same one as seen in the cannonball run video??? So it appears the genuine Top Secret R33 GT-R that was seen in this video is still in full trim which is good to know...
  9. You'd be better off going with something like an S2000, as that was designed to be a high-revving NA monster. Then once you're off P's, get an S15 turbo.
  10. Someone can take my spot if need be, as I don't think I'll be able to attend.
  11. LOL! Glad to see you'll be attending the cruise Terry =).
  12. Might not be able to make this, will confirm tomorrow.
  13. Ruxis, I'm guessing they are a 2 way radio? I'll bring my 2 way radio along to the cruise, we will discuss what channel to tune into.
  14. Aristo about as quick as a Supra? Since when did the Aristo have as much success as the Supra did in JGTC ??? Oh wait it didn't even race in such a series. And Supra has an amaziiiiiinggg interior, feels like you're in a jet fighter plane. Totally awesome. "This is a CEFIRO!!!" (Tsuchiya negatively describing the performance of the V35 Skyline)
  15. Quite a touchy topic. Probably best not to draw attention to people like that in the thread. Media programs like ACA etc regularly scan the forums from what I've heard.
  16. I'd be keen once I give my S15 a rub up with some cutting/polishing compounds etc..... Been meaning to get an RO buffer for quite some time now.
  17. I would drive the RX7 on the street.... As for the GT-R being too heavy, Keiichi Tsuchiya - A professional race car driver commented his thoughts about the R32-R34 GT-R. "I do feel the obstacle to making the car go faster, accelerate more rapidly and brake better, is the overall weight of the car". Then Nissan went and made the next GT-R (R35) close to 1800kg...LOL. The only way they compensated for the weight disadvantage was the copious amounts of electronics they implemented which has taken away from the driving experience. In my opinion, the R35 doesn't have the racing pedigree of the older cars, that is it was made to appeal to a broader market than the previous Skyline GT-R's which weren't as "grocery" friendly. I'm not saying its a bad car, I just think it has less spirit than some of the golden era Japanese nostalgia vehicles. A car like an S15 can be made to go faster...for cheaper, and it will be a more involving and enjoyable experience. Not to mention it costs less. And obviously the reward system in my brain (psychology 101 lesson right there) will be more stimulated by my heightened sense of involvement with a car that is not controlled by electronics. I think the previous Skyline's (R32-R34) marked the pinnacle of the closest you could get to a happy medium between electronics and driver feedback.
  18. I'd be more concerned about chassis rail gap in this instance... LOL
  19. Let's face it, the R35 needs a weight shedding surgery. But I'll give credit where credit is due, it is a good car but it just seems dead inside the cabin. A driver with an extensive skillset can pilot lighter RWD's such as S15's, RX7's etc to destroy the R35. And these lighter RWD's will be more fun and useable on the street. And as can be seen in this video, the lighter FD looks a lot more fun to drive due to the inputs required and in-cabin noise etc.
  20. If you've done that amount of damage to your rims, chances are you've bent a lot more underneath the car. I'd be more concerned about that.
  21. I believe it can be complied and registered so long as the repairs have been done professionally and there is no sign of structural damage. I'm not to sure, but I believe its up to the compliance workshops to determine whether there actually is no sign of structural damage. And as I said, some dealers own their own compliance workshops. I remember there was a column about it in an issue of High Performance Imports.
  22. What you guys are forgetting is some dealerships own their own compliance workshops....
  23. They will keep doing it, so long as there is a market of unsuspecting buyers out there.
  24. Go to P&A Auto Repairs in Melbourne St, East Maitland. It will be easier for them to quote you if you go there in person with your car. I can vouch for the quality of their work, tell them Benji sent you over as I know the main guys who work there (Mick - owner, Phil - manager) so they will take care of you mate. They don't do things half-arsed.
  25. Lol it's funny how they removed their youtube video which showed the true odometer reading, they must be aware of the thread... XX means that panel has been replaced, so its safe to say all the front end panels have been replaced according to the auction sheet lolol. Sigh. No wonder it sold for only 23k at auction
