I recently got a new pair of tyres at 150 dollars a piece, which are meant to be pretty good quality for the money, and i havent looked back.

i drive a turbo 33, and the sensational grip just gives u the sheer joy of driving.

I struggled on some bald tyres for a few weeks, and new tyres give u confidence, handling, and obviously safety. i highly recommend it for those of you with not so good tyres B)

Now i can barrel thru those tight corners, get reasonable traction from the lights, and flooring it in second thru a turn will provide traction loss obviously, but extremely predictable, and easy to control out of the turn.

hehe, as u can guess ive had a great night out.

Man once u get a skyline u cant look back ey. its just the best :D

Go the mighty liner!!!!

siigning out..

Tyres are probably the most influencial part of the car in terms of cornering speed, handling, and other related aspects of driving. A powerful car with shit tyres will always get beaten by a less powerful car with far better tyres when it comes to circuit racing. That sed if its only for taking off at the lites...it doesnt make such a huge differnce as it does for cornering...

My 32 has 235 on the fronts....255 on the rears.... having coilovers i have already gone thru 1 set of rear tyres in under 10 thousand k's with the original fronts which i bought it with still on there...That sed...i currently have Kuhmo Ecsta's on the fronts....and Hankook K104's on the rear...and within the speed limit (of course) through the hills....The car noticeably understeers due to the intense grip of the rear wheels in comparison to the fronts (being worn aswell as smaller).

My two cents worth...

Haha i've got the opposite problem, coilovers + hankook K104 235s on the front and the famed falken ziex ze326 265's on the back, front grips incredibly well, back barely holds the road dry, wet = forget it, may as well be running slicks...

yer, im looking forward to getting some new rear tyres

my currents are totally had it and need to be replaced now (im saving for them, 265/35/18s arent cheap)

im looking forward to grip as im a bit nervous booting it through 1/2 gears currently, never no when its going to break into wheelspin

tyres for 150 each would be absolute shitters. The ones you had on it before would be even worse. Tempe have 17" nangkangs for 130, or falcon ziex for about 140.

Those would be the sorts of crap available for that price.

For actual decent tyres, try the falken grb451 or rt615.

assuming he has stock 16inch wheels u can get decent rubber for $150

a friend recently got dunlop sp9000's for his s15 wheels from tempe tyres for $150 each fitted which was very cheap.

I had the same tyres on the rear of my r33 as well. Gripped 'ok' in the dry, and i lost it in the wet ;) Was probably my fault for loosing control, as once it came out i had no idea how to control it...

Took it to a tyre shop and they said theyre very poor tyres in the wet... goes to show good tyres pay off, i'm only running on nangkangs ns-II now but i think theyre even better. Goes to show, decent tyres, can perhaps even save a car.. and in my situation.. a set of work rims that 'were' perfect.

    • Does it also misfire equally when revving?   Josh is very correct in what you should do. The coilpack harness wiring loom itself is a known problem due to its age and the number of heat cycles it has gone through. Throwing parts at a vehicle to diagnose the issue isn't a smart or good way to do it. Secondly, you may have a bad coil pack, you pop replacements in, they fix that issue, but messing with the harness breaks it, so the issue persists. So now you think "well it wasn't the coil packs" and have to continue chasing your tail, potentially swapping back in your shit coil packs and returning the good ones (yes, I've seen people do this because 'it wasn't the problem' and they want to save money). And suddenly, you've got two issues with the same symptoms...   Diagnose, don't use the spare parts shotgun.
