Hey eveyone....

Im back after a week of sun and sand....

Little burnt.... Very relaxed very happy....

I have to say i only saw one syline in fiji due to just about all their cars are diesel... Even excels....

But the modified car scene is big in fiji... I saw a car club meet in a place called sitakoa about 15 minutes from where i was staying....

Fiji rocks... The cops were egging em on to do a skid and they did... The cops love it... Here is a pic of your typical modified taxi....

This thing was a turbo diesel 5 speed thing that put out an awsome burnout in the middle of the markets... LOL

But yeah... Loads of photos and video... Just thought id better post a pic or two... LOL

here they are (resized)

Also check out the sunburn pic... I fell asleep on the beach after having too many beers... So i had my hand on my side when i fell aspleep and this is what happens....

The last pic is of me getting smashed on 'kava' which is a dryed root that they grind into a dust and mix with water and its like a drug... After having that one coconut worth i could not feel my face and after 2 i could not walk straight... If you have 3-4 you will pass out.... Awsome stuff....

U can buy kava here and its not illegal. Its just in small quantities like 1kg for cultural purposes. I was in fiji last April visiting family. There is 1 R34 GTR Vspec there. Its a company car for the GM of Carpenters Motors. It has to run on 91RON fuel.

Either way, welcome back.

Yeah sorry about the slow responce but yeah Fiji was good...

We spent over 4 grand for 7 nights... But it did include everything. If i was going again id go really cheap on the hotel and spend your money on tours and food...

I did go scuba diving which was awsome and on a cruise but wished we had more money to do more...

The resorts are very expensive like we paid $370 per night at the outrigger whish is ratred as the best resort in fiji... If you decide to go and satu on an island like castaway island you are looking at 2g per night... So outrigger was quite enough...

I just loved having a huge breakfast then getting a towel and lazying by the pool with a beer....

Was a great country... Would go again but i think my next destination will be bali or thailand... Much cheaper....

Sweet, im looking at about 3k for 2 people over 5 nights.. obviously we not staying in the outrigger, i want to spend most of the time checking the place out and use the hotel for rest and home base.

We flying to suva, did you go there?

Im a complete figi noob so i want to get some good places and things to do before i go :P

We flying to suva, did you go there?

If your flying from Brisbane then you will be flying to Nadi airport (thats where pacific blue and air pacific fly too from brisbane. To go to Suva you would have to fly from Sydney)... Suva is a nice...

Suva is the capital of the country there is nothing there really...

You will want to stay on the coral coast may i suggest outrigger... They have a deal that if you pay for 4 nights you get the fifth free... So airfares from virgin (pacific blue) are about $800 inc all taxes you are looking at $80 for transfers to the resort... Id suggest renting a car as thats the only way you could see fiji at your own pace... Car rental is about $50-80 per day and fuel is like 1.80 a litre so pick a small car... LOL

Id do a sailing experdition to one of the islands for the day... Its well worth it and that where i got the most out of our trip... The resort is $hit hot has like 6 restruants and 6 bars... Ummmm bars...

Yeah... Go to a place along the coral coast which is the south of the island... Contatc Harvey World Travel or flight centre to get it together for you cause if you do it yourself you will end up paying more and it would be a nightmare...

Yeh im flying to sydney first but we are going to nadi sorry :P

Whats the rates at outrigger like?

Flights through virgin are cheap as cheaps during april!

I was going to check out hotels and book while im there possibly, hopefully they arent all full!

Unless i can find a definate place i want to stay at, its just me and gf, so anywhere upto $250 a nite twinshare i guess. Prices are always different to those in the stupid catalogues, usually alot cheaper.

So sailing exped is a good idea?

What island did you goto?

I was thinking staying in nadi for a night then driving and staying at some diff places along coral coast till we get to suva, spend last day or 2 in suva then fly back to nadi and home.. just one scenario

From Nadi we can heli/boat to a number of islands nearby, im not sure if these are worth the time and money though?

Tis hard compacting so much into 6 days, but its better than nothing :)

OK...

Outrigger will cost you about $340 a night inc breakfast... I suggest the warrick as a cheaper nice spot or even shanglar there about 250ish...

We went on captain cook cruises to mystery island it cost $150AUD for 2 of us and was really cheap cause there was free beer inc (as much as u want)...

Heli is a very expensive way to get to the islands... Boat is heaps cheaper...

Dont stay in Nadi as its a hole... You will miss out on 2 much... Its only 90-110km to all the good resorts from nadi... Get a coach transfer and you'll be set.... Then rent a car if you want to...

Its unaffordable to stay on the islands overnight as i said most are over a grand a night... Id book before going as the outrigger was packed full... Always is aparentlly die to its popularity with the americans (They love skylines)...

I would book personally with the resort you choose to avoid a booking charge with a travel agent and as you said avoid paying top dollar like i did....

    • Yeah, it's getting like that, my daughter is coming over on Thursday to help me remove the bonnet so I can install the Carbuilders underbonnet stuff,  I might get her to give me a hand and remove the hardtop, maybe, because on really hot days the detachable hardtop helps the aircon keep the interior cool, the heat just punches straight through to rag top I also don't have enough hair for the "wind in the hair" experience, so there is that....LOL
    • Could be falling edge/rising edge is set wrong. Are you getting sync errors?
    • On BMWs what I do because I'm more confident that I can't instantly crush the pinch welds and do thousands of USD in chassis damage is use a set of rubber jacking pads designed to protect the chassis/plastic adapter and raise a corner of the car, place the aforementioned 2x12 inch wooden planks under a tire, drop the car, then this normally gives me enough clearance to get to the front central jack point. If you don't need it to be a ramp it only needs to be 1-1.5 feet long. On my R33 I do not trust the pinch welds to tolerate any of this so I drive up on the ramps. Before then when I had to get a new floor jack that no longer cleared the front lip I removed it to get enough clearance to put the jack under it. Once you're on the ramps once you simply never let the car down to the ground. It lives on the ramps or on jack stands.
    • Nah. You need 2x taps for anything that you cannot pass the tap all the way through. And even then, there's a point in response to the above which I will come back to. The 2x taps are 1x tapered for starting, and 1x plug tap for working to the bottom of blind holes. That block's port is effectively a blind hole from the perspective of the tap. The tapered tap/tapered thread response. You don't ever leave a female hole tapered. They are supposed to be parallel, hence the wide section of a tapered tap being parallel, the existince of plug taps, etc. The male is tapered so that it will eventually get too fat for the female thread, and yes, there is some risk if the tapped length of the female hole doesn't offer enough threads, that it will not lock up very nicely. But you can always buzz off the extra length on the male thread, and the tape is very good at adding bulk to the joint.
    • Nice....looking forward to that update
