I took my series 2 r33 gts-t coupe in for a blue slip today as I'm changing the rego from ACT to NSW.

The mechanic points out to me the compliance plate which clearly states a seating capacity of 5.

any body can see that they're a 4 seat car

He'd already rang (insert proper authority here) and they gave him no real answer.

unsure of what to do he told me to fit a centre seat belt in the back for it to pass.

Am I going to be the only 5 seat r33 in NSW ? or has someone else been through the same thing?

My R32 GTS is complied as a 5 seater but only has 4 seats.. whats the deal there? are all two door R32s four seaters? i bought it a couple of weeks ago and the rego had run out, i just got new rego no probs

End of Story: r32s-34s came from nissan as 5 seaters. I.e. they all had a lap seat belt. There is no such thing as whether the compliance place bothered to 'install' a centre belt, because they already had one.

There is no reason for them removing it either. Strange things happen, maybe it was cheaper for them to obtain their compliancing for that model of car by removing the centre seatbelt.

Just check that the centre belt hasn't fallen into the hole. If it has, i'm sure you'll be able to find one off a wreck for like $20-50$. There will already be reinforced holes for the buckle and belt under the seat.

All seat belts get replaced to australian approved ones and I'd say when it went through compliance the

work shop was to lazy/cheap to put the centre belt in

As Hootchy said, they have to be removed when complied...so yeah I'll stick to my previous comment of lazy compliance companies that don't do their job and replace them...I know for a fact my current R34 was complied to the letter, my last one was questionable.

well, not only is my R32 GTR registered as a 5 seater (and please dont tell me my car came from nissan as a 5 seater) but on my rego sticker my car is registered as a "nissan sedan". My car could be a maxima for all transport SA knows.

Note: i did all the regency paperwork and took the car through myself after compliance and did not mis-represent the car in any way

yes lang, believe it or not, ugly poo gtrs are 5 seaters from nissan. Although it doesn't look like you can sit on the hump, it is a seat.

How do I know? when we brought in a couple of them (reads - my dad has 1, bro has one) they both had middle lap belts from japan.

Your copmlier obviously removed them.

    • Pretty sure it is a common fault. I believe this is the only part you need, but don't quote me as I don't have a V36.  I also believe it is a bit of a pain to change and the device needs to be encoded to the car once it is replaced, so may need someone with the right tools. • Pads for R32 GTS-t, R32 GT-R non V-Spec (Sumitomo), R33 GTS-t and R34 GT-t are all interchangeable. R34 GT uses a 2x piston caliper, hence it didn't fit.
    • Checked with amayama and nope, the full S2 manual set is not available anymore. Unsurprising, but still disappointing as the ? on availability gave a glimmer of hope.
    • I've heard the Tomei USA head gaskets are decent if you want to o-ring the heads but otherwise not recommended.
    • The 296mm rotors are the R33 turbo brakes. The 310mm rotors are the R34 turbo brakes. The calipers are nearly the same, but not. They're the same caliper but the R34 caliper has longer legs so that it sits out far enough to go over the rotor. The pads are the same for both. When you say, "I bough tsome EBC"....did you just mean pads? Or rotors? 310mm rotors fit under 17" wheels. There may be some wheels without enough clearance though. I can't fit my fingers between the barrel of my wheel and the "corners" of my R34 calipers, but there is plenty of room behind the spokes. This is on Enkei RPF1. You can fit 324mm rotors inside a 17" wheel, but I'd be willing to bet that it would be close to impossible with the Nissan/Sumitomo caliper (using an adapter, of course), because the Sumitomo caliper is fatter than the Brembo caliper that is supposed to go on the 324mm rotors.
